Wow! This is #6 in the Will Trent, along with evil acts perpetrated on women you might assume nobody is looking for ,you learn more of Wills background. Also, it flashes back to Evelyn Mitchell & Amanda Wagner in the 1970s trying their best to be good police officers when women basically were not wanted by the old boys club of policing. So much going on in this one .

“A cinnamon brown Oldsmobile Cutlass crawled up Edgewood Avenue ,the windows lowered, the driver hunched down in his seat.”

ShyBookOwl Is this a Will Trent book? Do they have to be read in order? I've read all her other books, but I find the number of Trent books daunting to dive into from the first lol 4mo
Leftcoastzen @ShyBookOwl while most mysteries in a series can be read as stand alones, this one goes into so much stuff and background with multiple time frames I wouldn‘t recommend it as one to start with. Even though her books have a lot of pages , they read fast. Oh yes , it is a Trent (edited) 4mo
ShyBookOwl @Leftcoastzen Ah, I see. Thanks for letting me know! I'm sure I'll pick up book1 eventually... I'm too curious not to. But it's not high on my tbr 🤷🏽‍♀️ 4mo

This is another brutal thriller/procedural by Karin Slaughter. I thought I was prepped for it by the Will Trent episode with Amanda‘s backstory, but nope. The book is exponentially worse. The crimes are nauseating. I loved getting the backstories for Amanda, Evelyn, and Will, though. I love Slaughter‘s writing, but I need to remember to have something light on deck afterwards!

The origin story of Will Trent. It was so enlightening. The only thing I didn‘t care for was the back and forth between 1975 and the present (but it‘s understandable). The other thing I hope happens soon is Angie exiting the story completely. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

I'm sure this isn't the first Will Trent book I have read. It was entertaining and kept me reading - I liked the way it jumped between the seventies and the present day. The narrative was typically brutal, lots of rape and brutal torturous deaths. Casual sexism was explicit and embodied by the character Amanda, in a way that probably made the author baulk at her character's anti-feminism! Final verdict: Entertaining but most probably forgettable.

Dis is probably my favorite in this series. It moves b/w present day &1974,we get to know about Will's parents but it highlights the toxic environment women had to work in back then in Atlanta police, not that they have it any easier now, sexist remarks, sexual advances,it was just awful.Have had issues with pacing of this series but it was worth it.I loved that Will, even though had a difficult childhood, had someone looking out for him at every step.

Not my favorite in the Will Trent series. I did enjoy learning more of his background as well as Amanda‘s. Still would give this a pick because it‘s well written and Karin Slaughter knows how to tell a story. 🤗

But also... can we talk about how bummed I was during my morning commute when I thought I had plenty of book left and BOOM - the ending and acknowledgements came out of nowhere.

I mean seriously - is that not a huge chunk of pages left?! (I'm mostly just mad at myself for not having the next book in the series on me 😭)

TheWordJar What on earth is back there? All of those pages can‘t be acknowegdments! 6y
swishandflick @TheWordJar Acknowledgements and intro chapters to two of her other books, haha. I was not at all prepared for the ending to come when it did, haha 6y

Ddzmini I really hate when that happens and you don‘t realize that it‘s all wasted paper not part of the book!🙄 that‘s why I always carry an extra book with me for those reasons... although sometimes when that happens frustration has me taking time to adjust before starting the new book so negative attitude is transferred from the previous book 🤗 6y

Funny story: Went to grab dinner on my last night in SF and ended up at a communal table at this really yummy restaurant. I pulled out a new Slaughter to read while waiting for my food (shocker, I know ?). At some point, the lady across from me says "Good book? I'm looking for a new thriller", which led to me raving about every single one of Karin's books and ended with her and her friend ordering Blindsighted online.

My work here is done ?

Oh man, SO good. Lots of secrets revealed, relationships explained, puzzle pieces put into place. Some parts were really hard to read. But I really love Sara and how good she is for Will; of course Will is good for Sara, too. I can't wait to see where their relationship goes next. In the end, this might rank with Indelible as my favorite of Slaughter's book.

About halfway through, trying to figure out the plot twists. Loving it so far, especially the flashbacks to the '70's; I find myself cringing at times, but also marveling at Karin Slaughter's ability to capture that time without seeing it through the lens of contemporary political correctness. And, let me just say that the more I read about him, the more I love Will both because he is so broken and because he doesn't let that define him.

[DELETED] 2232195534 Will is such a great character! I've loved him since first meeting him in Triptych, which is a rather grim book. Glad that Faith was brought in to shine some light. Karin Slaughter is great in my book, but her writing isn't for everyone. 8y
