So sweet. Love Ferdinand. He just wanted peace.

Probably not meant to be suspenseful, but though I've heard of it, I never knew the ending. I was worried there for a moment! Again, great art, sprinkling of satire, beautiful message.
A sweet story that teaches kids it‘s okay to be different.

#MarchMagic Day 23: This is my #FavoriteClassic children‘s book. While the other bulls are scrambling all over each other to be picked for the bull fights in Madrid, Ferdinand couldn‘t really care less. He would amble steadily and slowly, absorbed in his own imaginings. My review here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-5oD
Not really. My immigrant mom preferred to tell me oral stories instead of reading. I really enjoyed her version of fairy tale stories.
My earliest memory of reading a book with someone will be at school during small group for EL students. The tagged book was one my favorites.

The illustrations in this book are to die for! A story of a gentle soul who would not be moved to violence.
?? Mama's Book Review: Logan received a classic children's book in paperback for Christmas, one his Mama had never read before. "The Story of Ferdinand" was an enjoyable read and we are excited to add it to our library.

I used to always get this one and Lambert the Sheepish Lion mixed up when I was a kid. Ferdinand is the sweetest, but I love that he is also hard core when it comes to doing what he wants. So much tougher than going along with the crowd. You sniff your flowers, Ferdinand. Get on with your badass self.
Re-read this classic on my drive back home from LA. This beautiful story with a timeless message never gets old. I never read this as a child (my mom read me mostly korean folktales), but happy I read it when I got older. I‘ll keep coming back to it again and again.

This book is fiction. I would do a choral reading for this book. This story is about a bull that is kind and would rather smell flowers than participate in a bullfight. Everyone sees him as different and not normal. This book is perfect to show students that not everyone is the same and it is okay to be different.

young ferdinand the bull is more enamored with leisurely sniffing flowers than competition but when his is selected by bull fighters because of his size he hums himself transported to an arena in madrid.
I love how Ferdinand chose not to fight when he got to the ring. He had every reason to fight but he didn‘t.
This book was a great book about a bowl who was raised on the field of flowers that was chosen to go fight in the boring. He did not want to fight and chose to be peaceful. This one him sympathy by the crowd and he was sent home to last out his days in the meadow
@IamIamIam is holding a giveaway in honor of hitting 26k Litfluence! This was my favorite childhood read - partially because it's an awesome story... and partially because I grew up on a farm! #26kgiveaway
Today I read B one of his many, many books and he popped out a little to say hello! I think we‘ve got a reader coming, Litsy fam! Countdown is on to about 49 days!! :D
Watching my friends daughter tonight, start them young on reading. #readingselfie #babiesreading #startthemyoung #riotgrams
Hour 6 #24in48 #readathon Book Nostalgia 😄 I still have my childhood copy of this beautiful book and it is well loved by my sister and I and my children. I still love this sweet story of finding your own path and honoring your true self!
I took my munchkin and his friend to see Ferdinand. She fell asleep 🤦🏼♀️ but he and I both cried (its fine). I thought of how much I loved this book as a kid, and I think the movie captured that same spirit. Plus, as my son said as we were leaving the theater, it had an important message that all of us could learn from.
Between the ugliness of aggression and the pretty flowers don‘t you want to chose beauty too?
Got a sweet new poster for my classroom!!! Thanks scholastic!!!!
Picked out some movie posters today at work to take over to the library that I volunteer at. 💙❤💙 #HaveCourageBeKind @sandrakelsey

Ferdinand the bull is like none other in the pasture. At the very moment the men came to the pasture to find the fiercest bull they happen to see Ferdinand as he was being stung by a bee. What a great story to tell children you don‘t have to be like everybody else to be happy it‘s OK to be different than what people think you are.

The Story of Ferdinand is a F RA picture book written by Munro Leaf and illustrated by Robert Lawson. This is a book about a bull named Ferdinand, who would rather sit and smell the flowers than fight like everyone else. I would use UDL principle 9.3 to develop self-assessment and reflection. I would also use ESOL strategy 2 to promote cooperation. I would discuss with the students if you would be like Ferdinand or the other bulls. #ucflae3414f17
The Story of Ferdinand is a F book about a bull named Ferdinand, who would rather sit and smell flowers than fight, and would be perfect for a RA. Ferdinand's story can help teach students to be true to themselves, and that it's okay to be different. The book also uses some Spanish words which can be a great learning opportunity for all students to broaden their vocabulary. https://www.teachervision.com/story-ferdinand-activities
One of the first books I remember reading. I was delighted to see the trailer of the movie in the theater today. Told my grandson " we're going!"
Started w/baby gift. Then one for the boys. Then one to share w/husband. Next thing I know-my 2017 #bookbuyingban is history. 2 wks before ALA! I should feel guilty, right? #nope
Aaaand just for the hell of it, here is my daughter after the x-ray the GI sent her for. I handed her her T-Rex to distract her while the tech made sure she didn't need to take a 2nd x-ray. She did really well and the GI was nice and respectful of us. He said Parker looked healthy and didn't seem concerned with anything. Eased my anxiety a lot. #babiesoflitsy #litsykids #girlslikedinosaurstoo
My daughter had a GI appointment today. The pediatric specialty clinic always gives a book for each visit. So, she got a new book. I picked out this one. She has lots of baby books. I figured a beginner reader was a better addition to her library. The illustrations are black and white which is a favorite of mine. #booksforkids #blackandwhite #freebooks

Thinking of my #favoritechildrensbook, The Story of Ferdinand is definitely way up there. Gotta love a peace-loving, flower-smelling bull. #riotgram @bookriot
@beagle.mama Here's the Ferdinand tattoo. 🙂 It's hard to see but he's sniffing a butterfly on a flower.

One of favorites my childhood! This is the well worn copy I shared with my kids 😄 I also gave several for Christmas this year. #seasonsreadings2016 #bookwithpictures @RealLifeReading
Landon is doing a bit of reading with me this morning. I'm working on finishing up Siracusa.
I swear these places just manage to find me everywhere I go. Desperate Literature. Book hunting in Madrid.
