I instantly thought of the Tell-Tale heart.
@Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
But anything was better than this agony! Anything was more tolerable than this derision! I could bear those hypocritical smiles no longer! I felt that I must scream or die!
I‘m a little late posting, but my favourite meme from two weeks ago is more relevant now than ever. Spooky season is upon us, and I gotta go back into the classroom.
1) Not very often, I like to read/listen to books that occupy my time. If I do, I‘ll read a whole bunch at a time.
2) No, I‘m not. I just moved to America from Japan, ( military child) and I don‘t really no anyone because of Covid-19.
@ErinSueMreads how about you?
I should not have read this before bed. I knew I shouldn't, and yet I did it anyway.
It wasn't scary per se, but it left a lingering creepy sensation hiding in the dark recesses of my mind.
Definitely worth a read!
Happy Halloween!
I love Matthew Gray Gubler's reading of the Tell-Tale Heart. He really brings the story to life.
(It is on YouTube if you're interested)
Now I am ending my night with The Yellow Wallpaper.
Gruesome, but oh how satisfying the end. #Scarathlon #TeamHarkness @StayCurious 16 points
A few of the Poe stories read and a little of Irving.

🎃 I‘m not much of a decorator. I mostly eat pumpkins.
🎃 White pumpkins? What is this new devilry?
🎃 The tagged book scared the snot out of me.

Thanks for the tag!
1. I always loved to dress up at witches or cats 🖤
2. Didn‘t really get super into reading until I was about 14 or so, but I‘ve read The Tell-Tale Heart pretty much every October since then. ♥️
Thanks for the tag @Andrew65

I was watching an episode of The Simpsons the other day and they did their version of The Raven by Poe. I found it fun enough that I decided to read some of his stories. I really didn‘t like The Black Cat and The Cask of Amontillado was dull, but The Tell-Tale Heart was solid. Plus, earned some points for #Scarathlon2020 and #TeamHarkness!
A cold and deary with Poe. Nothing better.
#Scarathlon #Teamharkness
Yesterday‘s hours added! Still working on Conjuring of Light but took a break to add Tell-tale heart to my read list. Slow but steady start to the #cyoreadathon and that‘s +36 pts for #teamharkness and #scarathon

We‘re discussing “The Tell-Tale Heart” on my blog today! Join us with your thoughts on this spooky tale at www.theannakraft.com! #themidnightsociety
❤️❤️❤️
#TheMidnightSociety kicks off today at www.theannakraft.com. This week we‘re reading the Edgar Allan Poe classic, “The Tell-Tale Heart.” Hope you‘ll join for some fall fun! 🎃🍁
1. One time in high school, I was singing a popular song to myself around the house. Then I turned on the radio, and it was the same song, starting just where I had left off.
2. I‘m grateful that my husband likes to cook so I don‘t have to.

Every year I taught 8th grade, I did a spooky stories unit with my students in the fall. The last two falls staying home with my baby and not teaching, I‘ve missed a lot about school, especially this unit. So I decided to host a virtual Midnight Society on my blog this year! Starting next Monday, on Mondays I‘ll intro the story, and on Thursdays I‘ll post some discussion questions. Hope you‘ll join at theAnnaKraft.com! #theMidnightSociety
The heart says as it is, only whose heart? The story builds up to a frantic finale in which the narrator panics that the truth of what he has done is revealed, that everyone can hear the heart that ought to be silent. It's a gradual descent into madness, all the while the narrator tries to convince us that he is sane. Macabre, creepy and poetic.
The Classics Challenge I‘m doing called for a short story, so I picked up this YA copy from the library. And, it‘s getting passed to my 7th grader...I can‘t wait to hear what she thinks! 📚
Happy Birthday to Edgar Allan Poe! His writings were my favorite growing up and introduced me to a life long love of scary stories.
This reading by Mike Rowe of “The Tale-Tell Heart” was rockawesome. Look for the latest “Occasionally” for Oct. 30 on his podcast “The Way I Heard It” and tune in. #audio #horror #poe #edgarallanpoe
Of course I love this classic :)

Next was an adaptation of this Poe story. That heartbeat was so creepy 😱 +2 for #TeamStoker #Scarathlon
It is impossible to say how first the idea entered my brain; but once conceived, it haunted me day and night.
Edgar Allan Poe
Is it what you call Inception??
This made me laugh way to hard. 😂😂
Ive always enjoyed Edgar Allan Poe, 'The Tell-Tale Heart' and 'The Raven' are 2 of my favorites. ❤
My 15-yo daughter‘s homework assignment was to draw an illustration for Edgar Allen Poe‘s short story, “The Tell-Tale Heart.” Using a diagram of a heart and a photo of her own hand as a reference, she pulled this together in about half an hour (iPad Pro.) Maybe it‘s because I‘m her mother, but I *love* it and wanted to share :-)
Starting the week caught up with the #lovehate challenge. This belated Valentine is for whoever wants it, but especially my sister @hollynations @ErinSueG @WhiskeyMistress
1. Huddle in the darkness and avoid the doorbell...because humans.
2. Black cats. And he wanted to tell you his name is Carson.
3. Movies. Shining or The Omen.
4. The Tell Tale Heart by Poe...gets me every time.

One of my favorite Poe stories. 🖤 Our narrator is quickly driven mad by the fear and guilt he experienced after killing an old man.
If you have a favorite Poe story or poem, please share!
