This mystery was written in an interesting way. A lot of the clues were given to the reader early on while the characters had to play catch up. And Poirot only came into the story at the very end. Still an enjoyable read that kept me guessing at the murderer's identity

Another great Agatha Christie book. Hercule Poirot didn‘t arrive until later in this book and I had to double check it was a Perrot book. If it wasn‘t displayed on the cover I wouldn‘t of been sure. There were extra twists in this book that I really enjoyed and a very satisfying ending. Another recommendation for Agatha Christie.

My library haul this #holiday #weekend!

I started watching this last night on PBS, but my mind kept drifting. I was about to give up this time with Hercule Poirot when I remembered that Sharon ( @sharread ) read many Agatha Christie mysteries and seemed to have a fondness for this author. I enjoy Agatha Christie‘s books as well so today for the readathon in honor of the memory of Sharon, this is a shared liking.

Maybe not Christies best work, but still very entertaining. At least I had my share of fun trying to guess who the murderer was 😁 And as always, Christie knows how to fool us all. Well, of course not Poirot, but he only shows up at the end of the book. So if you want to read the book for his sake, I'd say you can skip this one...

Fun, classic Christie mystery. Enjoyable!

This evening's plans include rereading some Agatha Christie.

It's been a very busy few weeks and especially this last week was hellish. I read Cat among the pigeons in bits and pieces and finished it last night when I could finally take a break. I had forgotten the international intrigue part... And the racism, oh my word! Still, enjoyable. ⭐⭐⭐

I love a mystery set in a girls‘ school. Poirot doesn‘t make an entrance until the last third, which I think I actually prefer. He swoops in with his little grey cells and solves the puzzle!

A good book and an easy read. 🖤

I‘m a huge fan of Agatha Christie , and have read several of her books. Overall very good , even the ones that were not as popular or not with miss marple nor poirot. This however was very disappointing, simply because it‘s subpar when talking about agathat‘s work. Poirot comes at the very end, and solves the crime way too quickly. For most of the book it‘s just very dragged out pointless and uninteresting drama.

This book took so very long to get started... Soooo long. But the second Poirot came on scene it moved very quickly and all the threads came together!
If you can push through the beginning you'll like it.
I've rated it a so-so for those first 158 pages. The following 60 pages are pick all the way.

This was a bit slow going at first... But on page 80ish it all started coming together and I know I'll finish today now.

I'm still not feeling this book. 😐 I've never encountered this with a Christie book. But, I guess every one can't be awesome. But at least these cats are still awesome. I feel like I'm running a cat sanctuary.

A sleeping cat is perfection, because if they're awake they're smug, imperious, and haughty little imps. Now I have to move him from my favorite reading chair.

Dame Christie is still plodding through this MI5-like detour. Oh please, get on with it.

I love Agatha Christie and I devoured the first few chapters of this book, but now it's taken an international intrigue turn that's boring to me. I know it'll turn around, it'll have to. #agathachristie

So, these are primarily books coming up in my "to die for" mystery book club, or ones from the library sale each month. The worst part? That sale occurs again tomorrow. Don't tell my husband! LOL!
Anyone have a favorite amongst this group that I may want to move forward in the queue?

I love listening to Agatha Christie‘s books on audio! This one was read by Hugh Fraser and he was great.

This story is set mostly at a girls boarding school. There are a lot of different point of views this story was told from, so it was a little hard to follow on audio, but I still enjoyed it.

Poirot didn‘t show up until there were only about 2 hrs left in the audio and I found myself anxious for him to appear.

Another solid mystery from Agatha Christie. As always, a super nostalgic read for me. I love her characters, and the slow way she builds the mystery, revealing new clues and information piece by piece. I really enjoyed the school setting of this one. A great read.

As is often the case with Agatha Christie novels, as soon as I started I realised I'd read this before. But Agatha bears up to re-reading so I carried on and still didn't guess who the murderer was 😁

This cover, while beautiful, doesn't really make sense. One character gets dressed up once but everyone else is wearing tweed and jerseys and talking about gardening!

Also, oh boy, there's some crazy racism and ethnic stereotypes in this book 🙄

Another day, another Agatha Christie. This book takes place in an all girls' school, which was wonderful, but waited to bring Poirot in until the very end, which was a shame. I'm also not sure why the cover features lacrosse sticks when the story centers around a tennis racket. Oh well!

Paired well with fresh homemade banana bread, which I make with chocolate chips instead of nuts 🍫 🍌 🍞

My #libraryhaul from Harold Washington Library yesterday. My boyfriend kind of got me into GOT so I was interested in Martin's short stories. I got Agatha Christie based on what @Liberty posted the other day. The Zora Neale Hurston book should be fun. Almost Touching the Skies is an anthology of women's coming of age stories. Helen and Troy's Epic Road Quest seems fun. The others are short story anthologies. Fun, fun, FUN!! 👁👁📚📚❤️❤️🏙🏙

Another book sale find. I've wanted to read this Poirot mystery ever since I heard it's set in a British girls' school and look what was inside - the book club catalogue from August 1961 when this one was a "pick". Hmm... I wonder if I can place an order? ?

Re-read based on wine selection 😻

I'm slowly working my way through my shelf of Classic Crime Collection Trilogies from Lansdowne Press published in the early 80s. This one was Cat Among The Pigeons, The Labours Of Hercules & Hickory Dickory Dock. The covers of these are so cheesy, I love them! I hope I can find the whole set, I'll have to go hunting among some more 2ndhand & thrift stores. Dame Agathas stories are what first got me hooked on crime stories.🔪💣🚬💉🔬⚗️💊

Murders, kidnapping and espionage involved in an English all-girls boarding school! I like the setting of a boarding school and the English countryside but not so much of the international intrigue. And Poirot only came in towards the last one third of the story. Enjoyable read with the usual red herrings, but not one of her best, though. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
