Getting into period dramas lately and never ended up finishing this. Also just added the whole series on my kindle. Time to get reading.

Not ready to leave Cornwall or the historical romance/family sagas behind yet. Sorry not sorry that there have been no heavyweight prize winners on my holiday reading list this year 😆. This shows it‘s age somewhat, being written in the 1940s, but allowing for that (and the dodgy cover) it was a lot of fun.
Jud: Dear life! Is it you, Mister Ross?
From the grave, said Ross.

I enjoyed Poldark so much, it‘s one of my favourite shows. So I have no doubt that the book will be even better.
I really liked this! The story worked really well. I liked this as a audio book. I was surprised how different Demelza seemed as a character compared to the tv-show. Next time I get the chance I might be trying the second book. 😊
I'm enjoying this! This feels like it's written in resent years eventhough the story itself is set in history. The story works really well as audio book. 🎧
Started reading this and also watched the first episode of the show. Really liking how this reads so far and the show is good. Follows the book pretty well.

It was windy. The pale afternoon sky was shredded with clouds; the road, grown dustier and more uneven in the past hour, was scattered with blown and rustling leaves.

First day of term 4 & daylight savings means all day on the couch knitting & feeling very sleepy, making my way through audiobook Ross Poldark, Vol 1 today.
Having just seen the fabulously addictive TV series, I know what's ahead & I have found the book very much the same as the BBC series. I thought I might just stop at this volume since there is no surprise for me, but as I get closer to the end I am curious to know how Vol 2, Demelza, will go.
My husband & I have been addicted to this series which a friend of ours recommended.
We are halfway through season 4 & I've searched up the author & found all audiobooks!
So much detail in the books of course & some slight changes to events & characters but wonderful to listen to! Looking forward to reading even though I know the main events from the series.
If you can get a hold of it, Ross Poldark & Dr.Dwight Ennis are very nice to look at!
Almost every book makes me want to travel, unless it‘s based in a dystopian future, but these are three that came to mind. I‘ve actually made it to Cornwall and Quebec, but for now Japan will have to be experienced through books.

I read it. I enjoyed it. I now feel that I can go watch, and probably enjoy, the tv show. In fact, I rather suspect the family and neighborhood drama that follows Ross Poldark‘s return to Cornwall after two years away fighting in the Colonies makes for entertaining viewing. It certainly has all the necessary ingredients—thwarted love, a duel, labor strife, drunken servants, obnoxious parents, profligate cousins, new found love. A fun, quick read.
Sticking with historical fiction. I‘m sure this has been in my TBR stack(s) since the tv show debuted and that I bought it because I thought I should read it before I watched it. And I‘m doubly sure I bought it to read it before I watched it because of a certain dwarf in The Hobbit...Anyway, to Cornwall I go...
So absence had made the heart grow fonder and there was a #reconciliation between father and daughter at last. No doubt she would want to return home, and the silly malicious gossip would lose its point. #QuotsyDec19

I love this show; sad it‘s the last season. The stakes are high and the characters make decisions that go from bad to worse. There‘s a light at the end of the tunnel; love ❤️
I just started watching Poldark last week and fell in love. I bought the first 3 books in the series a couple of years ago when they were on sale. Had to dive in shortly after starting the show. Thus far, the show is fairly true to the books. I love being swept away by the saga of the Poldark family. Would highly recommend!
I was in Cornwall last week and Ross and Demelza are everywhere, of course. I snapped a couple of my favorites. 🤣

I just can‘t.

This book is well written, the characters were interesting, and I wanted to find out what happened next. But it is so patronizing towards women that I had trouble relaxing and enjoying it. I know it was written in 1945 and about the 1780s, but I can't do the submissive dumb fair maiden/ dominant male thing. And just when I would get into the story, the author would drop a line like " dark-faced, subhuman pygmies." Took my breath away.
Closing out the first day of the #24B4Monday #readathon with a respectable time. I've never seen the PBS series based on Poldark, but I've heard it is also good. I am enjoying the book so far minus the animal cruelty. 😵 It's funny, I can read most horror without batting an eye, hurt a dog and I'm going to be sick.

And so my journey begins with this series...
I love the show, so now it‘s time to compare to the literature in which it was based from. 🤗
Finished my third book in the early hours of the second day of the #24B42019 #Readathon
A very enjoyable read and set up well for the rest of the series.
Now up to 9 hours 32 minutes.
Got 4 1/2 hours driving tomorrow visiting family so will finally be listening to book 1 in the Poldark Series. Although very young at the time I remember the original TV series from the 1970s which was essential Sunday night viewing. This is the cover from that tv series.
Ross Poldark embodies #FireAndIce so well...this is the first of the Poldark series. #WinterWonderland
I have only watched the PBS television series, but the character of the Vicar is the creepiest , most disgusting individual!#nofemmeber #justacreep
I have a new name to add to my list of favorite authors: Winston Graham! ❤️ I watched the series first and Ross has been my TV boyfriend for awhile 😉. I picture the actors when I read/listen. I usually shy away from TV/movie covers, but in this case, I don‘t mind them. Prudie and Jud!!!🤣🤣🤣 5⭐️‘s
Poldark returned tonight on PBS and O-M-Gee, I was at the edge of my seat, holding my pillow so as to cover my eyes or bite it in case things didn't turn out alright 😥😱
But that made me realize, I didn't think I could hate another character as much as I hate sadistic, cruel, hateful Dolores Umbridge but George Warleggan proved me wrong! Who do you think takes the crown for the most evil? #LoatheWarleggan
TONIGHT the new fourth season of POLDARK begins on USA PBS stations; 9pm EST!!!
I almost quit this book early on, but decided to give it another couple of chapters. And now I have a new book boyfriend. Ross Poldark is damn near the perfect man. (But I'm happy to not live with 18th century medicine. The cures the doctors come up with in this book are as likely to kill you as any decease!)
The narrator did a really great job too. He even managed to sing as a female character without sounding silly.
Read this first book in the series and then realized there was a TV series. Loved the book and the TV series!
I don't know if it's my current mood, if this is just not my thing, or if it's the audio that isn't right for me with this book, but I just can't get into this. I haven't watched the show either. Maybe I should try that?
I don‘t have to work again until Friday night #bliss 📖🍺 I suspect this shall be my life for the next few days. I may venture out but let‘s be honest, this is an #introvert dream.
This is my July wrap up. The Poldark series and Winner‘s trilogy have been my favorites.
Well hello, Mr. Poldark. I apparently need to watch this series. 😂
Such a satisfying historical drama, and right up my alley. Loved the setting (post-Revolutionary War Cornwall) and large cast of characters, going about their lives and inviting me out in to the minutiae. I loved big sweeping dramas with multiple generations and focusing on domestic life. This didn‘t have crazy plot points but was very fun to read and live in for awhile.
Watching Poldark. Really good! I'm hoping to read the books soon as well. 😊
4/5 ⭐️
I fell in love with the show first, and surprisingly the book followed it well. It deviates only slightly. I love to know what makes characters tick and this book captured their thoughts perfectly.

It is completely unfair to leave this hanging and not tell what happened to her. Nope we are just going to jump into the future, switch perspectives, and completely forget that we wrote that chapter. 😳 How did that end???
Found the show. I almost died when I realized it was based on books. So far the show seems to keep close to the book. 🤞🏼 Let‘s see how long that lasts. 😬
This is so my jam. I have been staying up way too late reading the last few nights. 😴
@RachelO !
Thanks so much for the Poldark post card and birthday greetings. 💕
I think it will need to find a home near my copies of the series.

Spending my evening with these cuties, snuggling, and a very satisfying historical saga. Just what I‘m in the mood for tonight!
@MinDea #Shippy snuggling with Toby, as usual.
Starting to read the #Poldark series by #WinstonGraham The series on Amazon Prime is slowing down my reading pace #S3
For any UK based fans of the books or TV series - it starts again tonight!
I think we‘ll get to Bingo very easily with this card!
