Ooh this one was tricky! Poirot proves once again that he is the master of details. When a woman is found strangled at a small resort, he must seek out the killer among his fellow vacationers.

Word for Day 23 of #OminousOctober was Evil.
Possibly my favourite book by Agatha Christie & it has had some good tv/film adaptations too. The one with Diana Rigg stands out in my mind.

#OminousOctober #Day23 #Evil A Poirot novel, this one‘s another “locked room” mystery. On an island resort, the beautiful Arlena Stuart is found strangled lying on one of the beaches. Poirot works with the police to work out who had the time to strangle her at Pixie Cove & leave no trace. #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter 6pts
Poirot showing self awareness. He explains everything in the last chapter! 😂❤️
#bookspin #6
When asked by Mrs. Gardner about his detecting methods, Poirot, observing she was working on a puzzle, used that as an analogy. Quite ingenious of him!
I really enjoyed this! The story was told through conversations with the police, vacationers, staff of the Jolly Roger Hotel.Although set on an idyllic island, a sense of evil permeated the air. Then the murder of an actress, thought of as a Jezebel, destroyed peoples bucolic visit.⬇️
Instead of reading my book for irl book club yesterday, I read another Poirot mystery. The last few have been set in various countries while Poirot is vacationing. This one is off the coast of England at a resort hotel. Poirot just can‘t go anywhere without someone being murdered. Really enjoyed this one, several suspects, an interesting setting, solid mystery.
Classic Poirot story of a woman whose body is found on a beach on an island only hotel guests had access to. She was strangled but by who?
At least I managed to solve one of the minor mysteries, even if not the main one.
"It has been a wet day. The wind blew, the rain came down, and the mist was everywhere so that one could not see through it. Eh bien, what is it like now? The mists have rolled away, the sky is clear and up above the stars shine. That is like life, Madame."
In Devon, Agatha Christie‘s home county, among the scantily clad sunbathers, a murdered woman is found.
It was not unusual to find the beautiful bronzed body of the sun-loving Arlena Stuart stretched out on a beach, face down. Only, on this occasion, there was no sun… she had been strangled. Poirot chases murder mysteries no matter where he travels...this was fun!

I‘ve been working through Agatha Christie‘s books the past few years, and thought I‘d fit in the next Poirot mystery during #ProgressItNovember.
This is classic Christie and David Suchet does a great job with the narration (though Hugh Fraser is my favourite Christie narrator).
This is also book 2 finished for #NovelNovember. @Andrew65
Thank you so much for the awesome box of goodies for the #LMPBC @MaleficentBookDragon !! 🤗 As you can see, half of the candy has already mysteriously disappeared. 🤔😬 Thanks for adding to my A.C. collection! I think I‘ll read Evil Under the Sun to get my monthly A.C. fix.
Apologies as always @TK421 ! I am behind and working on getting you a box in the mail ASAP. I know I suck. 😣

This was a book I stayed up til 2 AM to finish! A nice change from the last Christie I read. In this Poirot mystery, the alluring wife of a Captain is killed on vacation. Blame can be placed on the whole cast of characters: the husband, the step daughter, a lover, a lover‘s jealous wife, and even a zealot preacher who hates ‘scarlet women.‘ It‘s up to Poirot to put the pieces together. This is probably one of my favorites now!
Guess who got a new reading chair for the living room?!
All I need is an ottoman to put my feet up. Hopefully this helps me relax when online teaching starts up in 10 days.

A total comfort listen.... and no one beats David Suchet narrating Poirot. He‘s just perfect, and I always love how much of a pompous arse the Monsieur is!

I‘ve read about 20 Agatha Christie books but haven‘t read this one yet!
This genre isn't called Cozy for nothing - it's so great to just lean back and forget about the outside world, while Poirot does his magic. Now that I've also read The Art Of War I think that he is, even though not a soldier, still acting accordingly. People keep on underestimating him. And at the end he goes BOOM - he's so great! 😄
I‘ve been in such a slump! 😫 I finally finished this book. You know you‘re in a slump when it takes a week to finish a great Poirot mystery.
Literally read this in one sitting. Another classic mystery that sucked me right in and was so good!
I‘m slowly revisiting all of Agatha Christie‘s books, fun times! Read my review of this over on https://thecuriousmagpie2018.wordpress.com/2019/09/05/audiobook-review-evil-unde...
You can never go wrong with an Agatha Christie. I've discovered some audio books from her on the Scribd app. Some are narrated by David Suchet, the actor from the Poirot series. I loved his voice. The book was also very good. I enjoyed listening to the audiobook while cleaning the house etc.
Some books by Dame Agatha Christie published in the #1940s that I‘ve enjoyed. My favourites from here are the tagged book and Crooked House.

Another new week! Happy Monday everyone!!! 🙂
Thanks for the fun #ManicMonday #EmojiMadness @JoScho !!! 🙂👍💕
‘It is romantic, yes,‘ agreed Hercule Poirot. ‘It is peaceful. The sun shines. The sea is blue. But you forget Miss Brewster, there is evil everywhere under the sun.‘
It‘s the holiday season, and for the guests staying at the seaside hotel in Devon, they had better watch out, for #HereComesTheSun !
#BeatleMaynia
Another great read (and watch) featuring the Belgian detective.
Okay so I know it‘s a mystery book, but I wasn‘t expecting that twist. Agatha Christie you did it again! Also, loved how Agatha gave a different perspective on the murder victim. Arlena was hated by most everyone because she loved men but was married so that‘s not good. Agatha added another dimension by shedding light that Arlena was a victim of her own weakness because men used her more than she used them. #mystery #twist
I love Agatha Christie but this one was not one of my favorites.
Thanks for the fun @sebrittain !!! 😁🤗🎈

I loved this one. Guessed the killer, not the finer plot points. Great murder mystery to read before summer ends!
I liked it but I didn't love it, but perhaps I was just in a weird mood. I actually like how the movie cleaned up the plot line a bit. I dislike very few of her books and I liked the denouement, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
Taking a bit of a break with a light read. So far there seem to be quite a few differences from the movie, which I saw several times when younger but probably 15 years ago, and I also can't remember whether I ever read the book 😊 #gettingoldsucks
I LOVE the feminist undertones of this almost 100-yr-old crime novel! She basically writes a redemption story for a woman slut shamed after society pressed on her the constant need for superficial validation. Oh Agatha, your my kind of gal! 😍👵🏻📖
Well, we‘re home. This was the scene yesterday when I picked up my husband from the “berm” where some folks were self-evacuating the neighborhood by foot. This is maybe two miles from the house. My neighbors had the National Guard evacuate them yesterday afternoon. The road reopened at midnight last night. No power, and maybe not until Tuesday or Thursday, or maybe tonight. #winterstormriley #litsywx
I saw the movie years ago, so I knew “who done it” but I couldn‘t remember the details. I love Agatha Christie and Poirot is my favorite.
Waiting to pick my nephew up from school. Have time for a few pages.
Great way to start this freezing cold Oklahoma morning.
#santagoespostal I forgot to post this awesome collection from Nadia! Thank you so much for all the goodies.
Continuing my Agatha Christie/Poirot binge this month is another that I remembered primarily from the David Suchet adaptation. This one made me very curious about beach resort life in the 1930s-- what's with all this bathing (read: swimming) before breakfast? Must be quite bracing. 🌊 🏊♀️
And my friends wonder what I'll do on my looooooong Christmas holibobs, have tagged my favourite #poirot #agathachristie
I love #pictures and #colours. One of the Agatha Christie's I haven't read. Truthfully, my main reason for not having read all her books is that I keep re reading my favourites of hers, which let's be honest, is most of them. 😅 Jamie Fraser candle from @TrisWillis at her BurningPagesCandles etsy store 😍 #bookworm #bookish #Poirot #DameAgathaChristie #booklover #booknerd #bookobsessed #bibliophile #bookmark #candle #bookdragon
#day12 #junetunz #laislabonita I do love me some Dame Agatha, and this one is a favorite Poirot mystery....Although the book is set on an island off the coast of Devon.... they switched the movie version to Mallorca (I'm thinking they were afraid that with British summers, it could become more like 'Evil under the Rain!' 😂)....The 1982 movie is a joy, with fabulous diva performances from Jane Birkin, Maggie Smith & Diana Rigg 😍😍😍
