My son has been assigned Shakespeare for the first time. 🤎 I decided we needed to read outside with fairy lights. My husband and I read from these two copies of mine from college, while my son read his parts from his copy from school. We had snacks and the weather was lovely. I can't wait to start Act 2 and meet Puck again.

I had to look this one up on my trusty goodreads stats page and the oldest book I‘ve read written in English is A Midsummer Nights Dream by Shakespeare.

I‘ve also read Tao Te Ching which was published in 401 but I read a 1997 translation so that doesn‘t count.

It‘s funny you can see when I started keeping track of the books I read and see the pub year increase. 🤓

1. My daughter discovered that she could still control our upstairs stereo with an app on her phone after she moved to CA (we‘re in TX). While my husband and I were downstairs, she turned on the stereo upstairs and cranked the volume up and down while it played “Tiptoe Through the Tulips” by Tiny Tim (Insidious)! My husband‘s face!! I professed ignorance but couldn‘t help laughing as we crept up the stairs!
2. Puck, the quintessential prankster!

First readathon day:

Audiobooks while putting together my Lego centerpiece. I have not played with Legos since my son was little (he‘s almost 40) and really enjoyed it! Listened to a full cast version of the tagged book in preparation for the Oregon symphony performance tomorrow and about 3/4 of the way through The Star My Destination for #ClassicLSFBC.

Really great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Now rooting for the Beavers. 🦫

A little over a decade later, thanks to a friend and the Newberry Library collection, I‘ve had the pleasure of seeing (and touching!) my second first folio.

I struggle with imposter syndrome a bit after coming to this teaching gig relatively late in life and via an unconventional path, but on nights like tonight when I came home from teaching a class on humor in Shakespeare during which we all laughed so hard my face is sore, I feel like I might not be too bad at this job after all.

On Saturday, I went to my favourite Shakespeare festival since early July 2019. Other than the last couple of years and one other year I didn‘t go, I have gone to this festival since I was 13 (I‘m 42). I went with a friend of mine and had a wonderful time. Weather wasn‘t great, but it wasn‘t horrible. #litevents #shakespeare #shakespearefestival

I have now officially read everything this man wrote. I think this one is my favorite. Years ago when I read all of the other plays (AP English class teacher who only thought the bard was worth teaching) loved all his work but this one. Color me confused by that. I‘m sadly lacking in Shakespeare, so I‘m slowly working on that. Hubby said I must have paid by the pound for this book 😆

Familiar story but beautifully told. When kiddo was four I took her to this ballet, and she was mesmerized. We won a raffle for a beautifully costumed AG-type doll, and kiddo named her Titania. Hard to believe I‘d never read a play we love so well in other forms.

I haven‘t updated my #BookSpinBingo card in a bit, but I finished my #DoubleSpin yesterday (twice) because I was listening to the audio as I was reading along through Serial Reader. This is one way to pick up on errors in SR btw lol I filled up all my free spaces with some books from doing virtual learning with my kid when he was in quarantine. In fact 6 more but I ran out of free spaces 😂

I‘m definitely going down a rabbit hole of background reading! Before I listen to the next section of the Sandman audiobook, I‘m re-reading the comics and; for Vol 3, ‘Dream Country‘, I feel compelled to re-read Shakespeare‘s play!
