Thank you so much @Pageturner1 for the sweet book and gift card! This was so unexpected but so thoughtful and appreciated ❤️ and it‘s ironic because we settled on naming baby girl Scarlett 🥰 - I also keep meaning to send an email— I haven‘t gotten a box since… November I think? Did your #cbbc book get returned to you? @Mommamanzi

Pageturner1 your very welcome! i did get my book. i‘m unaware if a new #cbbc started yet. that‘s a pretty name. it is funny i picked that book. congratulations 🎉 hope all goes well. 8mo

This is the 2nd book in the Lunar Chronicles series, & I enjoyed this more than the first, Cinder. The first one had to set the scene of the futuristic interplanetary realm & dragged a bit, though Cinder herself was an intriguing character. This one was all fast-paced plot plus new characters. I think Scarlet was meant to be tough & feisty, but to me she was kinda bratty (I'm showing my age 👵🏽). But it's a fun concept & a great popcorn read.

Ruthiella Scarlet annoyed the bejeezus out of me. The next book (your mission, should you choose it Jim😉) is probably the best one of the four. 9mo
batsy @Ruthiella 😂 She was aggravating. I agree with your review—Wolf is likeable 🐺 I do want to continue the series so I'm happy to hear the next one is good! 9mo
Centique @batsy i agree with @Ruthiella !!! (Always do!) Cress is the best one. I dont know WHY this series is my particular flavour of escapist YA romance, it just is. Might have to read them again soon. 😝 9mo
batsy @Centique They're fun and easy, aren't they? 😆 I'm keen to get through the whole series! 9mo

Book 2 Scarlet of France's grandmother goes missing and it is indeed the Wolf who took her, but not like you suspect! There is an intergalactic battle about to happen as Lunar fights to conquer earthens. Cinder & Scarlet meet. This is a FUN series. Looking forward to Book 3.

To rescue her grandmother, Scarlet teams up with a street fighter named Wolf. While Cinder continues her escape from Queen Levana.

This was breakneck! No time to breathe, because everything is happening all at once. Politics, romance, betrayal, secrets, & no happy endings yet. Very clearly a middle story, so nothing really gets resolved. & a bit of instalove, which I‘m not a fan of. But a fun retelling with interesting new characters! 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

Little Red Riding Hood flies a mean spaceship, and she‘s on the tail of her missing grandmother with the help of a mysterious street fighter named Wolf in this series of sci-fi fairy tale retellings that continues the story started (once upon a time) in Cinder. These books are so fun, action-packed, and clever.

Really enjoying my reread of this series. I think I found Scarlet a little more annoying this time but still loved her and Wolf. Poor Kai like this guy just can‘t catch a break. I can‘t wait for the reunion in book 3.

I‘ve decided I should finally finish the Lunar Chronicles, which means I‘m rereading the first three. It‘s been six years and I‘ve forgotten a lot, but that just means I get the fun of discovering stuff yet again. I hope CRESS comes available soon.

I finished SCARLET while I baked everything bagel buns filled with cream cheese and chives. They‘re good, but I‘ll something else to the filling next time. It‘s missing that extra oomph. #audiobaking

I have to read the rest of the series to know what's going to happen to Cinder and Queen Levana.

Good mix of Cinders continuing story mixed with Scarlets. Their mutual story is to find Scarlets grandmother. found myself drawn towards Wolfs nervous ticks. I have that extra energy too. This book also answered a question from the first book. It adds to the stakes. This felt more gory and dark, more mysterious. This order of the wolves is insane. Now that the setting is set, we get gritty.

Started my Journey into the lunar chronicles. I‘m a sucker for a badass MC with red hair and a cinnamon roll boyfriend, so I connected quickly with the characters. I loved how there was a switching of povs too. Cinder gave me life once again with her sarcastic attitude and cargo pants. Thorne was an amazing character and I can‘t wait to see how his love story progresses. 4⭐️

I liked it! Not quite as much as Cinder. It felt like it took awhile for the story to really get going. It took me a minute to be invested in Scarlet. I also don‘t love when I figure stuff out way ahead of the characters and have to wait for them to catch up. At least it ended well! I‘m stoked to see what happens to Cinder & co next.

I am really enjoying the Lunar Chronicles and can't believe I have waited so long to read them!! I found Meyer's suggested reading order that includes where to read all the short stories in Stars Above, so next I am going to catch up on those before jumping into Cress. This one was a little slow in spots/overly long, but that could have also possibly been because I am reading six other books in the chapter-a-day method, which really does eat into⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) my reading time overall. But I'm totally engaged in this story/world/characters and looking forward to seeing where things go!!

Ruthiella I normally am allergic to romance, but I totally fell for Wolf in this book. The third book is probably the best. But if you thought Scarlet was over long, just wait till you get to Winter! 😂 3y
TheAromaofBooks @TheSpineView @BarbaraJean - Sometimes it's kind of nice to wait until later to read a series like this - now I can read the short stories interspersed where they are suggested to read, and I've seen several people recommend reading Fairest before reading Winter, even though it was published later. 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Ruthiella - I'm already half in love with Wolf and can't wait to see how his character grows during the rest of the series. And I noticed that Winter is quite the chunkster! We'll see what happens!! 😂 3y

Today's #weeklyforecast ... I may have lost my mind! 😂 As you can see, the windowsill, with May's additions, is now STUFFED full!! The bottom picture is of all of May's chapter-a-day(ish) reads. I'm actually enjoying Gone With the Wind more than I thought I would, and I'm really excited about the various #PemberLittens reads. The Fall of the Ottomans is an intriguing focus on that area of WWI, and As You Wish is for #NYWD The backwards book is ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) this month's #BookSpin because I MAY have already drawn the numbers!!

In the windowsill - I started the tagged book yesterday and am so looking forward to this entire series (hopefully the rest come in the mail this week). I'm still using a random draw to decide what windowsill book comes next. I've left myself more free spaces on my bingo board this month so that I can fill in some of my backlog. I'm actually still stoked about all of ⬇

Scarlet is a continuation of the first book of the series, Cinder. By that, society around the world is now keeping an alert for a criminal fugitive that had escape from the Eastern Kingdom. Being the most wanted person in the world, she is ought to find a way to stop Queen Levana from destroying her beloved planet.

khristen.samson On the other hand, Scarlet Benoit lives on the other side of the world and living a peaceful life until her grandmother suddenly went missing. Likewise, she met a fighter named Wolf who knows some information of her grandmother's whereabouts but he is too suspicious to be trusted. 3y
khristen.samson If you like books that revolves around the world buildings of hidden organizations and fighting actions then you might like this book. The point of view used by the author for both protagonists are a Third Person Omniscient Point of View that the author uses on the story. 3y
khristen.samson Furthermore, the writing technique used in the story is telling the story between Scarlet and Cinder's side of the story before encountering one another, 3y
MissYaremcio Nicely done Khristen! Such a good series and I'm glad that you've been enjoying it! 6/6 3y

Meyer's writing is mesmerizing & her storytelling prowess is just magnificent. The characters are interesting, partially retold, partially imaginative, making them both nostalgic & entertaining. The pace is good & fast & there is always something happening. The dual POV was fantastic & Cinder's story was able to weave around this one in a way that felt so natural. This series is so much fun and I cannot wait to see where things continue to go.

This is a bit sudden (I.e. I just paused the audiobook and logged on as fast as I could) but Cinder is so BADASS in this book and she. Just. Used. Her. Glamour!!
Thorn is a pretty interesting character and I kind of like him. I definitely see where the author is going with her obvious annoyance by him- they‘ll definitely become lovers or at least close friends by the end of this book.

Here‘s something annoying that keeps happening to me: my holds come in as soon as I borrow something!
I put a hold on Scarlet as soon as I finished Cinder, which was when I started The Rithmatist. I just finished that today and borrowed A Court Of Thorns And Roses, which I‘m about 13 minutes into. I opened up Libby a few minutes ago to start reading, and now my hold is ready. Maybe it‘s because people read at the same speed as me? Ugh!

All Cinder had ever wanted was freedom. Freedom from her stepmother and her overbearing rules. Freedom from a life of constant work with nothing to show for it. Freedom from the sneers and hateful words of strangers who didn't trust the cyborg girl who was too strong and too smart and too freakishly good with machines to ever be normal.

Now she had her freedom - but it wasn't like anything she'd envisioned.

quote
selinaansshelf

“I'll take it,“ said Thorne, stretching out on the floor beside her and enjoying the cold hardness of the dock's floor, the obnoxiously glaring lights overhead, the stink of sewage on their clothes, and the perfect sensation of freedom.
