This book reminded me of the 90s rom com “you‘ve got mail”. It was light, funny, but swallowed you up into the story. I loved it. It‘s a love story about people who love books. The best part were the book references in the book. 10/10 recommend!

I think this is my favorite Emily Henry so far. Loved that this book was really two love stories, and I was just as invested in the sisters one as the romantic one.

rretzler Not my normal type of book, but I read it last year and enjoyed it more than I expected! I probably need to read more by this author. 1w

What a thoroughly lovely book! I loved the characters, the setting, the plot…everything. Nora made me laugh and cry (literally like a baby at the end), and fall along with her. The writing was excellent, the sexual tension was peak, and the spice hit just the right note. My first Emily Henry read, but definitely not my last!

Usually not my thing, but I‘m looking for something light and fun! What do you suggest?!

💛💛💛💛

monalyisha I loved the tagged! Not always light…but swoony and witty. 1mo
monalyisha Also, this one (if you haven‘t read it) was great for the escapism. I don‘t think I‘ve stopped dreaming about the setting. **Edit: just seeing now that it‘s got quite a few so-so ratings! I suppose you could weigh in on the debate? 😆😅 It was a bit silly, and the characters didn‘t always act in rational ways, but I loved it! (edited) 1mo
brittanyreads I am the same as you...not really a romcom reader. Most romances I read have to either have a fantasy or historical fiction aspect to them in addition to the love story. This series has been a big winner for me! The history keeps me engaged and the banter and sweetness make for a good romance! 1mo

AnnCrystal I'm reading, This Spells Love by Kate Robb.

About half way through. A timeslip. Not bad so far. While I've jumped over a few sex scenes, this otherwise seems to have an interesting storyline. It has made me laugh a few times.

I'm not a romance reader, and this might be my first Romcom, yet this one captured me.

I had to consider for a moment what Romcom meant, then was about to look it up when It became clear...😂.

Waited until after the big game to have a picnic of Valentine treats, chocolate strawberry and homemade spritz cookies while reading with the pup. I received the leopard print wrap as a gift for Christmas and it is the coziest to wear and snuggle up with on a chilly night.

Very sassy, lots of sarcasm and lots of fun. I really like this one as it wasn‘t too sappy and it went with and against the typical tropes.

I‘ll definitely pick up more Henry in the future!

Nora works as an agent for authors. Her most famous author had placed the setting of one of her most famous books in Sunshine Falls. One day Nora‘s sister decides that they should go on a sister trip there for 4 weeks. Once there, Nora meets an editor she has meet before and didn‘t like. Maybe things will change this time? And will Nora manage to relax for 4 weeks?

This book is beautiful! It has plenty of laugh out loud moments and steamy scenes but it ended in the most perfect way. I couldn‘t stop reading tonight and I‘m so glad I did. I laughed with the characters, I cried with them and I cheered them on to the last page.

This book was perfect. Absolutely perfect. I don‘t think a book has ever made me laugh out loud so much. I cried in the last chapter the happiest of tears. Nora and Charlie fit together so well. As an older sister, I also related very much to Nora‘s relationship with her younger sister, Libby. The audiobook reader was incredible. Such great acting skills. I am going to buy this book from a real bookstore; it‘s only right considering the story!

2023 Reads continued

My last read by Emily Henry. Just as non rom com as the previous
two novels . The humour (was it even that?!?) just didn't do it for me.

Silverneurotic I don‘t think Emily Henry can be considered rom-com. Her last few books have been too serious. 6mo

The banter was the highlight.

I repeatedly had to remind myself to not tear apart the characterization, though, to try to give myself the chance to enjoy it.

But still calling it a pick, because I think it‘s a me problem.

This was fun…my second Henry book, and I‘m officially a fan. Nora is a 30ish literary agent in NY. At 20, she took care of her younger sister Libby when their mom died and has always needed to make sure she‘s happy and has what she needs. Before the birth of her third child, Libby plans a sisters‘ trip to NC to the small town that her favorite author (who happens to be one of Nora‘s clients) writes about. Libby provides a bucket list of things 🔻

robinb to do over the month in hopes that her workaholic sister will loosen up and take care of herself. Charlie is a 30-something editor in NY whose first meeting with Nora did not go well as she saw him as boorish and he saw her as the ice queen of publishing. They meet again in the NC town (his hometown) where he is helping out with his parents‘ bookstore while his dad recuperates. 🔻 8mo
robinb As the sparks turn into attraction, Nora finds someone who sees her and accepts her for who she is, and Charlie is drawn to Nora‘s perception of him underneath the layers. This was funny and warm but also dealt with some more serious issues…self-worth, control issues, co-dependence, etc. I found it a great read. 4.5/5⭐️ #BookSpin 8mo
TheAromaofBooks I think this is my favorite of Henry's books. I really loved Nora and Charlie together, and the flipped tropes were so fun. 8mo

A cute and slow romance with two unique protagonists (with the alpha female front and center) and their quirky ways… filling the void with their unconventional constant banter with humor filled to the brim. An additional side story about a lil mystery of the sister 👩🏻 ! I enjoyed the worlds colliding and the family members of each protagonist taking part. Much more enjoyable & meaningful than “people we meet on vacation”! Give this one a chance

My first Emily Henry! Fun and charming with well-developed characters. It played with tropes in a deliberate way that I enjoyed. I enjoyed the main romance, and also really enjoyed the different family relationships that were all so important to the plot. Additional points for the character conceit - New York Career Woman keeps having her boyfriends dump her for Whimsical Country Folk - being hilarious.
