It‘s National Book Lover‘s Day, one of my favorite days!

I started to read at the age of four, self taught, and books have been my life savers. They gave me hope when I had none, taught me to be kind, honesty and empathy when I received none & changed my life.

They shaped me into the person that I am today & have provided to me so many wonderful people and memories!

Books are truly life transforming! Happy National Book Lover‘s Day!

This is my 5th time reading this book, so I don‘t think a full review is necessary. There are so many parts I still find very funny or highly emotional, even the fifth time through. And Julia Whelan‘s perfect narration just heightens all of that.
If you haven‘t read it, please do.

Cheshirecat913 I have two of her books so far and really enjoyed them, will look out for this one too! 4mo

This book surprised me. The prologue was explaining the typical characters and tropes and plot lines of the ‘hallmark movie‘ style books. But, it worked. And the story was really good.

I get so sucked into these rom-com books. Even though they are predictable and do follow certain tropes, I nevertheless find them difficult to put away.
I did appreciate the intertwining love stories here - between the two lead characters but also the familial love between the sisters.

5🌟
Emily Henry's books are perfect. I read through them with a constant smirk on my face and the occasional tear. She nails snarky banter and can accurately depict the littlest moments that make a relationship, like the lingering warmth from a kiss on a forehead or the feeling of a heartbeat through a wool sweater. She gives the same giddy happiness as Gilmore Girls. Her characters always stay with me long after the book is over 💖

Mehso-so

I am not much of a romance reader but someone gave me this book and I needed something lighter to read. I liked the beginning, then skimmed through the romance bits in the middle and was feeling “blah” by the end because all these types of books are really predictable. The so-so rating is more because i don‘t enjoy romance, but I am sure that those who do would give this a pick.

Prairiegirl_reading I read a bit of romance and very much did NOT enjoy this one. 7mo

This book reminded me of the 90s rom com “you‘ve got mail”. It was light, funny, but swallowed you up into the story. I loved it. It‘s a love story about people who love books. The best part were the book references in the book. 10/10 recommend!

I think this is my favorite Emily Henry so far. Loved that this book was really two love stories, and I was just as invested in the sisters one as the romantic one.

rretzler Not my normal type of book, but I read it last year and enjoyed it more than I expected! I probably need to read more by this author. 9mo

What a thoroughly lovely book! I loved the characters, the setting, the plot…everything. Nora made me laugh and cry (literally like a baby at the end), and fall along with her. The writing was excellent, the sexual tension was peak, and the spice hit just the right note. My first Emily Henry read, but definitely not my last!

Usually not my thing, but I‘m looking for something light and fun! What do you suggest?!

💛💛💛💛

monalyisha I loved the tagged! Not always light…but swoony and witty. 9mo
monalyisha Also, this one (if you haven‘t read it) was great for the escapism. I don‘t think I‘ve stopped dreaming about the setting. **Edit: just seeing now that it‘s got quite a few so-so ratings! I suppose you could weigh in on the debate? 😆😅 It was a bit silly, and the characters didn‘t always act in rational ways, but I loved it! (edited) 9mo
brittanyreads I am the same as you...not really a romcom reader. Most romances I read have to either have a fantasy or historical fiction aspect to them in addition to the love story. This series has been a big winner for me! The history keeps me engaged and the banter and sweetness make for a good romance! 9mo

AnnCrystal I'm reading, This Spells Love by Kate Robb.

About half way through. A timeslip. Not bad so far. While I've jumped over a few sex scenes, this otherwise seems to have an interesting storyline. It has made me laugh a few times.

I'm not a romance reader, and this might be my first Romcom, yet this one captured me.

I had to consider for a moment what Romcom meant, then was about to look it up when It became clear...😂.

Nora works as an agent for authors. Her most famous author had placed the setting of one of her most famous books in Sunshine Falls. One day Nora‘s sister decides that they should go on a sister trip there for 4 weeks. Once there, Nora meets an editor she has meet before and didn‘t like. Maybe things will change this time? And will Nora manage to relax for 4 weeks?

This book was perfect. Absolutely perfect. I don‘t think a book has ever made me laugh out loud so much. I cried in the last chapter the happiest of tears. Nora and Charlie fit together so well. As an older sister, I also related very much to Nora‘s relationship with her younger sister, Libby. The audiobook reader was incredible. Such great acting skills. I am going to buy this book from a real bookstore; it‘s only right considering the story!

2023 Reads continued

My last read by Emily Henry. Just as non rom com as the previous
two novels . The humour (was it even that?!?) just didn't do it for me.

Silverneurotic I don‘t think Emily Henry can be considered rom-com. Her last few books have been too serious. 1y
