Pickpick

This book gave me serious sympathy pains in my whole body. "...his feet had headaches and the blood was coagulating in them and swelling them and turning the veins to al dente spaghetti." I had to check to make sure my feet were okay after that description--the mark of great mind manipulation!

Apparently it is technically possible to walk that far. Records have been set. I Googled it.

InLibrisVeritas Oh no! I forgot to read it! 😂😅 I'll have to blaze through it on Thursday. 6y
DGRachel @InLibrisVeritas 😂🤣😂🤣 6y
MinDea I read The Long Walk last year and really enjoyed it. I heard someone bought the rights to make it in to a movie a while ago but no news on when it will actually come out. 6y
Eggbeater This book made my feet ache in sympathy. It was great. But damn that ending! I really wanted to know what Ray would have wished for. Would he wish for his dad back? Would he wish the major dead? I had questions! 6y
Karkar This was one of my least favorite books. I powered through it, but by half way I was like how much longer can he go on about a stupid walk. :( oh well on to the Dead Zone! 6y
Bklover I love the fact that Stephen King can write an entire book about a walk. Creating all those different characters and scenarios all around walking and dying. I loved this one! It was every bit as good as it was when I first read it years ago 6y
BookwormAHN I also loved this book. I was shocked how well he could keep me engrossed in a book with teenagers walking. Also for me dystopian is always more frightening than horror. 6y
JulAnna I looked forward to re-reading this and for me it stood up to the passage of time. I remembered the shock I felt during my first read when I realized the penalty for walkers who stopped. I thought there were interesting talking points here about competition and spectator fascination. Ditto to @Bklover and @BookwormAHN 6y
LauraJ Finished up my reread...this is not a good book to read when you‘re sick...unless you like wallowing in misery. 6y
DGRachel @LauraJ I feel like King is not a good author to read when you‘re sick, no matter which of his books you are reading. 😂 I hope you are feeling better! 6y

DGRachel @SexyCajun Restarted?!?! 6y
SexyCajun @DGRachel yeah cuz I had fell off the band wagon and I feel like I didn‘t catch everything drifting off during audiobook. So I bought the actual book 6y
DGRachel @SexyCajun totally understandable. 😊 6y
BookwormAHN I still some left so I'll get back to y'all when I'm done. 6y
daena Me too @SexyCajun. I audiobooked The Long Walk because I am still reading it! I have a feeling I will be reading it in the background for a while. 6y
SexyCajun @daena yeah I kept trying to background The Stand but if I ever wanna get thru it I need to muscle this up! I‘d be listening to it at work and a customer would come and I‘d forget to hit pause etc. anyways. If you actually like the book by all means I say starting over or whatever you need to do 6y

Pickpick

Oh man, this book. Unbelievable and scary. I love King, whether it‘s a massive alien epic or just about humans in an impossible situation.
I wanted just a little bit more at the end. The impact was big all through the end, definitely some tears!

I think I‘ve overcommitted myself in September! Here are my three remaining #makemereadit books, House of the Spirits for my library book club, Les Miserables (finally!) for #lesmisbuddyread, and I‘ve been contemplating dropping in on #LosersClub for #TheLongWalk. Not pictured: On a Pale Horse (on Kindle) for #IncarnationsChapterADay (and the subsequent Incarnations books as they come). 😬 Will see how far I get! #SeptemberTBR #readingresolutions

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I‘ve been guilty of overcommitting every month lately! So... join the club I guess. 🤣 6y
BarbaraJean @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I think that‘s the problem—joining too many clubs! 🤪 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraJean That too...and Litsy readalong groups! 6y

vivastory Glad you're joining the #lesmisbuddyread! 👍 6y
Ubookquitous The good news on #incarnationschapteraday is that the chapters aren‘t monsters LOL 6y
BarbaraJean @vivastory Me too! Just hoping I can keep up! @Ubookquitous Yes, I‘m very glad of that—because it‘s not the case with Les Mis!! 6y
Ubookquitous @BarbaraJean Yes - there are hundreds of pages on sewers and obscure military knowledge and other details that don‘t are a bit extraneous in Le Miz 6y

2. #TheLongWalk I loved it and I can't wait to discuss it with the #LosersClub. It made me have sympathy pains in my feet.
