I wasn‘t old enough to see this movie in theaters. However, as a teenager it often played on one of the four channels I had to surf. Oh, how it brought me to angsty teenage tears. This is a super quick read and it ages fine - except thanks HIPPA, a patient should learn their fate 1st 😳. I absolutely knew the ending (and catch phrase) yet still I cried - maybe a bit for my 15 yo channel surfing self 🥲😂

The Novel That Taught the World
“Love means never having to say you‘re sorry.”
This was a good, quick book. Glad I finally got around to reading it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Next up is The Neverending Story.
#ThingsInCommon Both books have Story in the title.

One of my all time favorite movies but the book was a disappointment. As was this sappy cover.
This was the bestselling novel in the US in 1970. I've been aware of it forever ("Love means never having to say you're sorry," FFS ?) but it's not really my kind of thing, never seen the movie, wasn't interested. Pleasantly surprised to find it very short-- barely 100 pages-- and pretty readable: bland, but direct. It won't take much more than an hour of your time, if you're interested. I'm still not a fan, but have read many worse bestsellers.
obviously a very quick read, took me probably less than an hour. at first i didn‘t really understand the hype around it from my mom. seemed rushed and pretentious. but it really is a charming love story, and the sadness gets you in an unexpected way. you don‘t expect to as sad as you are, until the last page when his dad comes. very touching and lovely. makes you question if love is worth it, but also assures you that it is
The first day of spring reminds me of a Love Story of a boy and a girl who were young and happy ❤️

*Oliver absolutely cherished Jenny in Love Story. Sad book, sad movie. Check out Ryan O‘Neal & Ali MacGraw in “Love Story” (Erich Segal) in 1970 and again in 2016 (bottom left), when they reunited for the play “Love Letters” (A. R. Gurney).
Famous quote from the book: “Love means never having to say you‘re sorry.”
I love these custom posters my library‘s Outreach Department is doing with their in-home clients! What were YOU reading in 1969?
This was surprisingly short! I thought I‘d seen the movie years ago, but now I‘m not sure; it‘s possible I only saw bits and pieces. I think it would have been nice if things hadn‘t moved so quickly in the story, if the reader had more time to get to know Oliver and Jenny. I thought the end would devastate me, even knowing how it ended, but it didn‘t. It was still a good story, overall, but I guess I just expected a bit more.
Happy Valentines Day to all the Littens from this mean little Cupid!
1. I'm not a romance reader at all, but I did read this in high school. It was great!
2. 02/14
3. Bobby❤️20 years in 2020!
4. Oh happy of course!
5. Wow, tough one. I'll just name the first one that comes to mind: Mikael Blomkvist from Steig Larsson's trilogy. He's a writer/journalist, good looking and a little edgy🤙

I will admit, I've never actually read the book, I've only seen the movie. But does anyone else think "love means never having to say you're sorry" is just about the biggest load of BS you've ever heard?!?! Or is it just me?

Love means never having to say you are sorry💖
1) One of my all time fave love stories, which always makes me sob when I watch the movie based on the book. Reminded because I ran into Ali McGraw in one of our favorite stores in Santa Fe a few weeks ago. She‘s so warm and gracious and amazingly beautiful and does so much for our small city! 2) Oliver and Jenny 3) Peony 4) Dark chocolate and Payday candy bars 5) Definitely red #manicmonday @JoScho

The teacher made me pick out a book and I picked this one because it's a love story 😂#san_32 @MarinaSantos
This is a sweet, sad, romantic story. Not a lot to it, but well written with charming characters and the author does a great job with the narration. I was shocked to discover we used the same Whitman poem in our wedding vows without ever having read/seen it. #audiobook #BirthdayChallenge #1970
Next up on #audiobook in my #BirthdayChallenge: #1970. I don‘t agree with the famous quote pictured here, but it is one of those incredibly famous books I‘ve always meant to get to.
Hubby went on vacation last week while I had to work... I was surprised by this text Wednesday afternoon. First, I've never known him to seek out a bookstore on his own and second, he always tells me I have too many books. And what makes this even better - he's on Book #2 this summer when typically I can only get him to read one! ❤️❤️❤️

Ali MacGraw as Jenny Cavilleri in Love Story is an #americanbeauty. The movie is one of my favorites but I'm not a huge fan of the book. Maybe it's because I've seeing this movie one too many times.

'Love means never having to say you are sorry'.
Does this line hold true in real life???
Have any of you noticed a trend in contemporary romances toward bland happiness? Two gorgeous people meet and have amazing sex. If he was a player, he does a 180. Nothing separates them except for a near death event of some sort. I want passion! Conflict! Humiliation, loss, the sense this relationship matters more than anything else. Did I mention the guy is always rich, an alpha who morphs beta & happily does dishes?
My #birthdaychallenge starts in 1970, so I really think I'm going to have to read Love Story. How can I not? The book that launched a thousand Jennifers!
Even though "Love Story" the movie is one of my all time favorite movies I didn't know it is a book. Just few days ago I discovered it and I was so happy so I started it immediately and I wasn't disappointed. It is a nice cute short story I enjoyed reading it so much.
Somehow I had never read this. ❤ I didn't cry as everyone says you will, but I'm not a big crier. I did fall in love with all four major characters. Brief and beautiful. All stars.
What color is your love?
Shades of grey, ruby red, bitter greens, shades of earth---

My parents initially planned on naming me Lisa. However, fearing that name would be too popular, my mom was on the lookout for other girl names (had I been a boy I would have been named Robert after my dad). They went to see Love Story at the theater before I was born and as a result, I'm Jennifer, a name so popular in my age group that it left Lisa in the dust. 😂😂😂

It's short, sweet, a bit sappy but still a good read. I disagree, however, with "Love means never having to say you're sorry." For me love encompasses forgiveness & humility and that means you are ready to say sorry when you have done wrong. When the role is reversed & they're the one asking forgiveness from you, you accept it because love keeps no record of wrongs. But I guess we all have different perspectives on love :)
What do you think?
Love means never ever having to say sorry...
