I have had this on my TBR since 2016, I think it's time to read it.

Black Rabbit Hall is a Cornish country house with an untold history. The story is told by two women separated by decades but linked by the dark and tangled secrets of Black Rabbit Hall. Amber Alton lived there in 1968 and her family still haunts the estate. 30 years later, Lorna Dunaway is determined to be married within the grand, ivy-covered walls of Pencraw Hall, known as Black Rabbit Hall.

These are all standalones that have good ratings on Amazon and Goodreads. Let me know which one you are interested in reading.
Thank you so much, @phatsallylee ! This #jolabokaflod2019 package is perfect! I've never had either of these chocolates & they're going to pair perfectly with this mystery! Merry Christmas & thank you again for your thoughtfulness.
This was amazing, @MaleficentBookDragon ! Thank you for organizing!
Next up. I am hoping to get a couple more books in before the 31st. I started Hex last night, but wasn‘t feeling it, so I will give the tagged book a go when I get home from school. It‘s going to be a blustery, warm ( up to 12 c) rainy day here. Have a great day, Littens.
I had a hankering for something “Gothic-ey”. Let‘s see what this one‘s like. 😄
What secrets does Black Rabbit Hall hold, and will Lorna find out what the secrets of the Alton family are as she explores the Alton's summer home?
BLACK RABBIT HALL was a family saga with hints of foreboding as you turned each page.
BLACK RABBIT HALL had marvelous characters that were loving and endearing and of course there was a villain who ruined it all.

I have been experiencing a horrible reading slump lately. I have started all five of these books in the past three or so weeks, but I am only really enjoying one. Guess which one? (Tagged book does not count.)
🤘) Read minds? No way. I'd be at odds with everybody. Teleport it is.
🤘) Black Rabbit Hall
🤘) No. Why depress myself? 😂
🤘) No Netflix

This was a slow burn for me. Once I got into the story though (about halfway through) I couldn't put it down. It's a haunting story of the Alton kids and the fallout of their family when their beloved mother dies.

5☆ What a fabulous story! 🖤
I love gothic historical fiction + this one didn‘t disappoint. A crumbling English mansion with seemingly odd mysterious powers that draws people to it? No sense of physical time inside it‘s walls? Sign me up! Within the secrets in its halls two women‘s lives in different time periods cross bringing Lorna the answers she‘s needed but never received from her adopted mother. A must read that I‘m still thinking about.

“Kate Morton meets Daphne Du Maurier” says the blurb.... which is a good description I think....this was a wonderful gothic story with a crumbling manor, windswept Cornish location, wicked stepmother and family tragedies galore. An engaging read set in one of my favorite places....

As always when a story covers two time periods, I preferred one narrator over the other... but this was a wonderful gothic story with a crumbling manor, windswept Cornish location, wicked stepmother and family tragedies galore. An engaging read set in one of my favorite places.... 💕📚👍
Taking a few minutes to read a few pages before the work day starts. @TheClevelander I think you‘ll like this.
#breaktime Green tea and a new book.... loving this so far....
Blurb says “for fans of Sarah Waters and Kate Morton” and I‘m definitely getting that vibe 👍

This was a good read. It had that gothic old English manor feel that I love. I expected more creepiness but it was more of a family secrets type story.

I've had this out from the library for ages and realised this week that I've run out of renewals and it needs to go back on Monday! Oops I better get started. #bookwormproblems
I went into this book thinking it was going to be a mystery with possibly a side of paranormal and was pleasantly surprised to find it was more an unfolding story of loss, family and a woman trying to find out about herself. It lagged a smidge in the middle but overall I'd recommend. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5 stars
"You realize life is not linear at all but circular, that dying is as hard as being born..."
5 books came up off hold within the last 24 hours and I have two more about to 😮 I think I got a little over ambitious. Tell my children I love them and I'll see them next week #ifonly
#NuYear #Hereintheblack One from my TBR/ latest bookoutlet haul.... The blurb says it‘s for fans of Sarah Waters and Kate Morton... so I‘m excited! Going to use it for #Pop18 #abookwithananimalinthetitle
Finally getting to this one, which comes highly recommended by a friend.
I really liked this one. A wonderful story about love and family, told in two different timelines that merged together in the end. Joyful and tragic, with a very satisfying ending.
Overall I enjoyed this story but there were times when I got a bit annoyed with the change of timeline. That‘s just me though, I like to stick to one plot at a time. The characters were well fleshed-out, apart from the father who I found to be a bit of an all-round disappointment actually. All in all a good read.
I‘m 94% done and already feeling the sadness of finishing a book that has been such a great read.
I love this quote, funny and yet kind of creepy at the same time.
Disaster has struck! My FM transmitter has broken. It was ok yesterday but today...nothing! Boring drive home 😢
Wow! One tragic event in the Alton family history shatters their family. The story has a very clear voice in Amber, one of the Alton children, always deemed the sensible one. Her thoughtful perspective on the unfolding events is beautiful and intimate, drawing you in to the heart of her family and inviting you to stay at the Black Rabbit Hall of Summers past.
Sad, touching, mysterious and eloquently told. A fabulous read.
If Rebecca and The Forgotten Garden had a baby, this would be it's first book. It had the atmosphere and vibe of the former with many of the same story components as the latter.
Eve Chase can't quite write like DuMaurier or spin a tale like Morton- but there were glimpses of greatness all throughout this novel, and I would be willing to bet that by her 3rd or 4th novel I won't be able to make this claim anymore. She's one to watch for sure.
I've already read half this book. If I didn't have an 8am Dr. appt. There would be nothing stopping me from finishing it before I go to bed. I've been one more chapter-ing it for the past two hours already. Ugh, stupid things that aren't reading. Bah.
Up next. #TbrBingo book six! Did y'all 👀that cover blurb?! Fans of Kate Morton and Daphne Dumaurier?! I mean. That's a huge assertion to make but crossing all my fingers and toes and even braiding my (newly colored, little mermaid red,) hair in hopes that it lives up to that hell of a blurb. 🤞🏼
SO excited to have pulled this one out of the book jar.
"For fans of Kate Morton and Daphne du Maurier..." sold ?
Someone is enjoying reading over my shoulder tonight. This is Pearl everyone (The Black Pearl if you will 😉) Who needs a headrest when you have a kitty. #CatsOfLitsy #kitty #LitsyKitty #TheBlackPearl
I adore a timeslip storyline, and this one, although the past was only the 1960's - not too distant past - it was beautifully atmospheric and certainly summoned the essence of the decade. I loved the innocents and darker seedier side of the characters. It has an air of Kate Morton about it, which isn't a bad thing, although Eve certainly has her own distinct style.

#bookishthisorthat Day3: Romance or Thriller ☀️ I've never been a big fan of romance in books--I prefer it to be an accent to the plot rather than a focus. This one isn't really a thriller though--it's a mystery that I found during my last trip to HPB. Mystery is my second favorite genre, so I can't resist an intriguing one!

This book was so much better than I expected — the writing, the story line, the characters' voices and the way they developed through the story... I expected a beach read, a shallow, easy read for lazy days. Instead I found it gripping, and so touching. Oh, the feels. Love, desperation, mystery, and yet the reader is miraculously spared sappy moments — I'm not a fan of romance reads so anything sappy leads to 🙄🙄🙄
Such a pleasant surprise!
This made me laugh out loud 😄😄 I loved Kate Bush as a child — she was so beautiful and quirky! But this is kind of spot-on 😏 This isn't a humorous book, on the contrary, it's kind of serious and at times a bit depressing, so this line was very unexpected... and appreciated 😊
