Lash is now recruiting for the Lessers. Z tells Phury to go to the other side and that he is no longer welcome at the mansion. Wrath sends all the brothers, including John, Qhuinn and Blay, to make sure the Vampire community has left the city. While checking homes, Z gets called back to the mansion. He assigns John, Qhuinn and Blay to finish checking homes. At Lash's house, John finds a bloody vampire print in...

TheSpineView ...Lash's room. Lash goes back to his house to get a car. He briefly sees John. John thinks he is just seeing things. On the other side Phury is starting to detox. Cormia tends him 3w

TheSpineView Phury has a plan that he presents to the Scribe Virgin to release the Chosen. He convinces her it is for the betterment of the race. Once John, Qhuinn and Blay are back at the mansion they head out to meet with Lassiter. He has Tohr and will turn him over to the Brotherhood on the condition that he is allowed to stay at the mansion. Rehv is now head of the council since he the oldest surviving member of his line. John and Tohr have a reunion. 3w

TheSpineView Phury meets with Wrath and tells him his plan for the Chosen. Rehv has given them a secure place to live. Phury and Cormia will assist the Chosen in getting acclimated to the vampire world. Lash has his parents' house looted. Phury starts going to rehab meetings. He wants to stay clean and take Cormia as his ' shellan'. Xhex is now fantasizing about John. The Scribe Virgin wakes her daughter. Zsadist and Bella have a girl and both are well. 3w

Wrath has Qhuinn become John's 'Ashtrux Nohtrum'. Retroactive, of course. A neat solution. Lash kills all his adopted vampire family. Z and Phury are the ones who find the family. Butch is called in to do forensics. John and Qhuinn go to Blay's house. John insists that they tell him what is wrong. Blay admits he is in love with Qhuinn. Lessors attack Blay's family while the guys are there and everyone is safe.

TheSpineView Other families are attacked and Qhuinn's Mother, Father and Sister are among the casualties. Though Qhuinn's brother is missing. Lash has plans to destabilize vampire society so it will be easier to destroy them. At the end of the night, John, Qhuinn and Blay find Cormia alone swimming in thebpool 3w

TheSpineView When Phury discovers them, he orders Cormia to get out and go to his bedroom. He is acting as a bonded male and the boys notice. Phury has lost his shit and the bonded male in him is driven to marking her. Later, John goes to check on Cormia and misinterprets what he sees. He thinks Phury forced himself on her and beats up Phury. Phury feels guilty and goes to buy drugs. Rehv goes 'up north' and leaves his tithe and has to deal with the sympath... 3w

TheSpineView He always gets poisoned each time and his body is not recovering like it used to. Lassiter, the Fallen angel, makes a deal with him. In return for a favor he heals Rehvenge. Lash is not like the other lessers, he is able to eat, drink and have sex. TheSpineView I am not surprised about Lash. He is in the perfect place to wreck havoc. Will his need for revenge make his reckless?? The Vampire society doesn't seem prepared like they should be. I also feel think this is not the end of Blay and Qhuinn. 3w

Laughterhp They are not prepared for organized lessers at all! It‘s crazy because I feel like they‘ve been dealing with them forever but have been too wrapped up in all their own drama. 3w

julesG For a society that has been fighting with the lessers since forever they really haven't done much to protect themselves against them. Lash being drunk on his power was to be expected. He's a bully. 3w

TheSpineView Qhuinn gets jumped by his brothers and his friends as revenge for what he did to Lash. He almost dies. Blay saves him but he can't take him to Havers. Instead they go to the mansion for Doc Jane to tend. The Omega finds his son, who is Lash, when he dies briefly before being revived. The Lessers go Havers and kidnap him. A number of vampires are killed. It would have been much worse, but Z and Phury are there. The Omega makes Lash a Lesser. 1mo

TheSpineView Jane is able to operate on Qhuinn and he will recover. We find out that Rehv murdered his father. Cormia realizes she loves Phury. While Phury tells her that she has been released from First Mate duties. 1mo

TheSpineView A lot of the things that happened in these chapters were no surprise to me, with the exception of finding out that Rehv killed his father. Is it just me, or does it seem like this book has not focused much on Phury and Cormia? 1mo

I tried to stick to the reading schedule but my loan was already expired and I had to put my kindle on airplane mode to finish it. 🤫🤫

It‘s been a while since I‘ve picked up one of these books so I forgot how many different POVs you get. Sorry, I found Phury pretty boring as an MC because it was so internal and he never spent time with Cormia. I did like the way the book ended.

The story opens with the birth of the Omega's son that is born to a female vampire. The Omega has the Fore-Lesser leave the baby in a public place where he will be found. Fast forward 25 years, and Phury is pining for Bella and wondering why he chose to be Vishous's stand-in. Bella is pining over Phury and John is pining over Xhex. Mr. D is made the new Fore-lesser and we get his story. He is tasked with finding...

TheSpineView ...the Omega's son now that he has come of age. Phury asks John to keep Cormia company so she is not lonely. Phury is fighting lessers and learns they now call him the "Torturer" because he is getting off on inflecting pain before he kills them. We learn someone is blackmailing Rehvenge and it has something to do with Xhex. Zsadist tells Wrath what is going on with Phury. It is determined he is unstable and is put on administrative leave. 1mo

TheSpineView John, Blay and Qhuinn go shopping and to ZeroSum. Xhex gets into John's mind and sees that he fantasies about her. Xhex realizes she is attracted to John. Thorment is alive, barely. Phury feeds Cormia and realizes that he wants her. Lash starts shit with John and Qhuinn comes to his rescue and almost kills Lash when he cuts his throat. Qhuinn gets disowned and is kicked out of the house. We learn more about Phury as a young male and his vow... 1mo

TheSpineView Lots going on in these opening chapters. The Omega has a son is a shocker. Should we even guess who that is. I think we have all figured it out. I think it is safe to say Phury has bonded with Cormia. Do you think we are headed down the same path with John and Xhex? 1mo

julesG I read the book a few months ago, don't want to spoil anything. I hate Phury's inner voice, his wizard who enables him. Why did Ward turn Phury into this whining drug addict? I knew there was more under the Hollywood facade, which we got a glimpse of during Bella's abduction, but this is more than I expected. 1mo

julesG Have I mentioned that the Chosen/Primale breeding program disgusts me? I'm glad this viscous (pun not exactly intended) circle is broken. 1mo

This is possibly the hardest book to read of the 6 I‘ve already read. I vividly remember the tinge of sadness amongst the happy ending, thinking of Phury not really being in the Brotherhood anymore. I‘m glad I have 19 more books to read, so hopefully that entire story arch ends up a little happier too. This was a rather philosophical book, which I rather liked.

Another truly hideous audiobook cover. Were they even trying here?! As it turns out, what I thought I remembered from this book actually happened in the last book… but I *think* it brought vague memories of what happens in this book. We‘ll see I guess. CoverToCoverGirl Agreed, I love this series but Phury‘s book felt more like an abbreviated love story because there were so many storylines in this one—it was more about world building to set up future storylines. 4y

I liked this book more than the last one. I liked that Phury had a drug addiction and had to overcome it. It was a little awkward with Phury going from celibate to not. I loved the drama with John and his friends. A villain is back in the story and gave the story more depth! I cannot wait to see what happens to John and the lessers in the next few books.

The sixth book of the Black Dagger a series is very detailed and interesting. It seems more action-packed than the others. I like the direction the whole story seems to be taking. I liked that Phury's addiction is portrayed in his head as a self destructive voice for reasons understood only by him.

This is my least favorite book so far in this series. That being said I love this series. There were elements of this book that I found really annoying and they centered around Phury the main brother in this book. It will not stop me reading on as I really do like the brothers.

I felt this installment dragged a bit. I wanted to smack Phury across the face and smarten him up a bit. There were some things that drove the series forward, and I really did like those parts...but Phury is my least favorite brother.

On to Rev‘s book now, and he is one of my favorites. 😍😍

When I saw the prompt for #readingresolutions for #creepycharacters I had to scroll thru my Goodreads list a bit as I generally don‘t like or read books with a creep factor. BUT...the Lessening Society in this series are ALL creepy and gross and freak me out. I haven‘t made it last book 6 yet but intend to at some point.

I don't like the phrase #guiltypleasure. It implies you should feel bad for how you feel, which never made sense to me. I've never felt bad for reading anything I've enjoyed, whether it's smexy #vampires, splatterpunk #horror, Brontë & other literary gems, #romcom chick-lit, formulaic Mills & Boon, or smutty #erotica. There's a book for everything - something I've always loved about reading 😁 Pleasure should never carry guilt. Read with abandon!

I've had a bad month reading wise so far. Only finished one book at this point. I still have about 150 pages to go in The Thorn Birds but good grief that book is borrrrring. I'm half way thru ACOTAR and it's okay but not pulling me in the way of hoped. So what's a girl to do? Start yet another book! I love love love this series but a little bit nervous about this one. We'll see. Fingers crossed!

Bostonmomx2 @stargazerblue49 oh I'm so happy to hear that. I had heard this one is where things start not being so good. I don't really love Phury so it would be nice if this book changed that for me. I liked book 5 because the lessors weren't in it much, they freak me out as does the Omega 😳 8y

stargazerblue49 V's book is good, too. She lost me at book 10, I think, though I still intend to pick it back up eventually. I am interested in the new stuff that she has coming out with the Black Dagger Legacy books and with Wrath and Rhage each getting a second book. 😬 8y
