Fascinating to read the original fairy tales as gathered by the brothers Grimm. Their surname is an apt descriptor of many of the tales, such as “The Children Who Played At Slaughtering“. My goodness!

1. I grew up on and love the Grimm's Fairy Tales and Aesop's Fairy Tales
2. Brokeback Mountain by Annie Proulx
3. I can't think of a 3rd that I've read, but I'm really looking forward to reading Christmas and Other Horrors: A Winter Solstice Anthology edited by Ellen Datlow
**Edited to add a novella I just remembered; funny because I didn't read it that long ago and I really enjoyed it: The Plotinus by Rikki Ducornet

Thanks for the tag, @hannah-leeloo! 😊
1. Tagged. My grandmother had a huge, ancient edition printed in old Fraktur hand, which I learned to read at an early age (around six or so...) It was my fave book for many years and I pored over it for countless hours...
2. Cold, grey and rainy ☔
3. The wonderful men in my life... 😊

I‘m new to graphic novels, but I‘ve had a few that I have loved. I think they are a great way to beat yearly reading challenges. Today on my blog I talked about a few of my favorite graphic novels. But I‘m still new to the format so I would love to hear some recommendations!

Originally known as the Children's and Household Tales (Kinder- und Hausmärchen in German), it‘s a collection of fairy tales by the Grimm brothers or Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm who collected fairy tales and folklore from around the country. Tales like Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Greek, and Rapunzel were originally from #Germany before they and many others were passed on to English language and culture.

I went to the Austin Central Library to check out Mirror Mirrored in their gallery. It‘s a contemporary take on Grimm‘s fairy tales using different art forms (photos, videos, fabric, and more). I didn‘t take as much time as I probably needed to fully reflect on it but it was interesting. I‘m glad they put a gallery in but I don‘t know if they really get the word out as much as they could.

Here‘s a book of fairy tales and a book of New York stories. #afairytaleofny I got the Grimm book as a gift for my 7th birthday and I remember being horrified when I read the undisneyfied version of Cinderella. Way more gory. #winterwonderland
And this beautiful book was only $2! I am not interested in pristine antiques, I much prefer a book that looks it‘s age! I have a thing for those Grimm boys, and am thrilled to have found this!
Some of my prettiest #Pink books for #Riotgrams today. 💗 @bookriot
So I was out with friends yesterday and ended up out for much longer than I expected 😊... So I'm late again on yesterday's #CoolBooks prompt for @Linsy #CoolBooksFairyTaleEdition 🤗
So here's my pic for #Tale ... two ancient tomes of battered but well loved fairy takes 💙💜❤
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the vainest of them all? Snow White's step-mother. #youresovain #junetunz @Cinfhen
