I really enjoyed the Not Even Bones webtoon (though I have fallen behind) and keep meaning to hunt out this book series!

I haven‘t read the book, although I would like to.
But I enjoyed the webtoon! (I fell behind haha)

Looking through reviews, I‘m noticing a common theme…& it‘s one that echoes my exact sentiments: “I‘m surprised by how much I enjoyed this/how good this was!” Honestly, I haven‘t enjoyed a YA book this much in ages. It‘s a (gruesome) story full of complex characters, & complex (& evolving) ethics & morality. It‘s about escaping a traumatic upbringing & about the possibility of healing afterwards. Nothing is (forgive me) “cut & dry.”

6/52: Not Even Bones
I watch a lot of true crime, and this book was SO well done in my opinion. I loved the characters and the plot was very thrilling. It left me gagging for more & was hard to put down :)

does anyone know any books that have a similar feel to Not Even Bones, i cant find something that seems worth reading.
@MsRadioSilence Thank you so much for the package! I can‘t wait to dive into these books. And OMG the cackling I did when I unwrapped the black flame candle — it would have made the Sanderson Sisters proud. Fantastic start to my weekend! #HHS #HauntedHollowSwap
“Pain. Everyone is always in pain. Whether it‘s a loose hangnail, a sore joint, a cramped back muscle—something. No human is never not in at least a minute amount of pain.”
They thought because the US was a “first-world country,” they didn‘t have black markets or human trafficking. Idiots.
She would never cross a line she didn't want to again. Not because of something as transient as a conscience, but because of something more concrete. Resolve.
This was so good, I am shook. I was not expecting this to be so great. I love a good horror story, and this delivered. I love the paranormal aspect as well. I thought this had great pacing, I wasn't bored or wishing to be done even one time, I just wanted to keep reading. I also loved this discourse around morality and how it's not as black and white as people believe it to be!
What a dark, twisted and gruesome book! I loved every page, every twist, and every crazy aspect of it. The plot was well developed and the twists were unexpected, I really loved the main character, Nita, and her arc and morals, throughout the book we see her do bad things, lots of them, but them she tries to be a good person, I just love 'grey' characters. I liked the pace, the action and the world they live in. Cannot wait to read the second one!
Waiting for my highly anticipated book delivery today from Amazon... I've been reading the Webtoon of this book and loving it!
This book was truly wonderful with the plot-line and the characters. It was full of suspense and thrill, I was on the edge of my seat.
I enjoyed, Not Even Bones. I finished it after 4 hours and could not put it down. Loved the characters (side note definitely need to get a unicorn.) The main characters life was very interesting. I was slightly disappointed that there weren't that many locations in the book and the locations that where in the book weren't described enough. Overall i would give it a 9/10
Looking for opinions on whether this book is worth reading.
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 💫 I‘d give this one a 3.5/5 I think. Really fun concept and universe! It felt a little slow in the middle perhaps, and I really wanted to see the main character Nita move to a new physical environment for some of the story (the world felt a little small) but at the end the plot started to pick up a bunch and ended with a cliffhanger that left me curious. Dark, complicated, bloody YA (hangover for Halloween reads!)
...this was messed up.
The ending messed up.
Honestly, this was a pretty refreshingly different. It's very gruesome but different. The characters are all flawed and grey at best but they're honest. I also don't know if it's messed up but I'm here for the romance...But also, like that ending messed me up...
Only draw backs, I found some of it pretty densely written with very little dialogue which made it drag a bit at some points.
Reviews to come tomorrow when I'm not totally beat but I FINISHED EM!
I'll get my review for the Devouring Gray up later today hopefully but for now...I did my running around, all my shopping and it's a long weekend so I want to chill in the backyard with the puppies and read about murder/death/dismemberment
I‘d intended to read this in April for a #buddyread with @LibrarianRyan and @Cinfhen but work duties disrupted most of my reading plans this spring. Overall, I‘m ambivalent about this book and don‘t feel like I need to read others from the series (yet to be published). This story includes supernatural beings, gory details, and torture.
Holy hell this book is fucked up and I love it. It is fucked up in the ways The Road should‘ve been.
Nita dissects and cuts up bodies of Unnaturals to be sold illegally by her mother. She gets kidnapped and is taken to the death market, where she herself is up for sale.
#supernatural #fuckedup
Ugh I'm in one of those moods where I REALLY want to read but nothing is holding my actual attention so gonna maybe just try one chapter and each and see?
Well that was a crazy fast read for me! I realized quickly it wasn‘t what I expected; it turned out to be so much better! I usually have to be in a special mood for fantasy, but Schaeffer made it seem so natural and normal that I didn‘t even question it. I can‘t wait for the next book. ☠️#booklystats
I‘m really sorry @LibrarianRyan but this book is SO NOT FOR ME!!! I‘m bailing at chapter 13, page 116. We‘ve already had a toe cut off, an ear, an eye and a chunk of skin. Nita and her mom deal in body parts, selling them on the black market. When Nita gets a change of heart she finds herself locked in a cage and now on the other side of the body part business. It‘s too over the top ridiculous for me & the writing is pretty dreadful.
Ok @LibrarianRyan I‘m going in...completely out of my #readingcomfortzone but I‘m going to give it a try.
So I have been surprising @Cinfhen with books the past couple of months. Mostly books she is interested in. But I sent her two that I was interested in. We have decided to #BuddyRead one of them in April.
Wondering if anyone would like to join us?

My first SURPRISE #bookmail from the INCREDIBLE @LibrarianRyan ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️I‘ve never heard of this book before and I‘m not even sure I understand what it‘s about after reading the blurb 🤷♀️BUT if Ryan choose it for me #ImDownToTry 😛 Have u read it yet @LibrarianRyan ?!?!? Should we #BuddyRead ?!? Thank You so much for this awesome #Giveaway
Can I give this bonus stars?
I am blown away by the character connection in this book. Schaeffer does an amazing job of keeping just the rifht amount of suspense and joy.
I can not wait for book 2 this fall!!
I loved this book! From the moment I saw the cover I knew I had to read Not Even Bones.
The villains are monsters and the good guys are villains.
Nita‘s mother murders “unnaturals” and Nita dissects them to sell the body parts. But she doesn‘t dissect friends. But it all changes when Nita finds the line she won‘t cross and saving a life could cost hers.
Now to wait for book 2!

I wanted to love this! I was so excited to read it. I liked parts of it: it was dark and violent and about villains. But the pieces didn't add up to a whole book that interested or excited me, unfortunately.

3. It‘s a tie between Not Even Bones and The Glass Spare.
4. Blanca & Roja, A Sorrow Fierce and Falling, Small Spaces, The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein

Twisty, grisly, genre-bending and immersive, Not Even Bones will grab you by the throat and drag you along as it gleefully tramples all of your expectations...
Two BLOODY outstanding books: ‘Not Even Bones‘ and ‘Sadie‘, and I would say these are just about the HOTTEST reads if you like the dark fantasy/horror/thriller genre and like YA. And even if you don‘t normally read YA: read these books, because they‘re awesome.
*Note: Not Even Bones is extra bloody, and Sadie has trigger warnings

This book contains: morally unsure chapters, lots “What would you do to survive?” scenarios, a Naughty Hottie who has to do bad things to survive (and kinda doesn‘t want to but kinda does), a kickass girl with a will to live, and humans with a little extra OOMPH. Loved this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘ve been editing cat photos most of the day so I‘m kind of tired but it‘s GO with @DeweysReadathon and since I‘m not in the mood for anything ‘nice‘ right now, I‘m starting this one!
#deweys #readathon
1) Seattle, a way too hot Seattle...
2) I don‘t really have a stack planned so right now it‘s this!
3) Anything anyone gets for me without begging...
4) I have MS so this heat is BAD for me 😭
5) Anything to take my mind off things (heat/pain)👍🏼
Can you imagine a world in which monsters roam free as part of society? Welcome to Nita's life. Not Even Bones is the book I didn't even know I wanted! I loved every single minute of this. It was completely refreshing to read a book that isn't cut and dried black and white moral choices. There are many times Nita and other characters have to make a decision between bad and worse. It definitely isn't your average monster story.
Highly recommend these so far! I've read the top 2 and Not Even Bones. They're really good and all very different. I love having a wide range of interests!
