An eclectic week again. Loving that!
In 185 super short chapters, all based on a dictionary entrance, we read about the many phases of falling in love and being a couple. Beautiful written, gorgeous quotes, often recognizable. The book made me smile, nod and think. I hope they‘ll stay together forever 💖Thanks so much for sending me this book @KarenUK

A unique book that tells the story of a couple through dictionary entries. Each word reveals a little more info about the pair, their struggles, attraction & the story of their romance. It's realistic in the way that cracks can appear over the most minor things & begin to split people apart. It was the author's simple lines which cut deep w/their poignancy.
“This brief transcript of moments, written on the body, is so deeply satisfying to read.”
This is such a unique representation of a relationship! A little snippet for each letter of the alphabet, Levithan goes through the ups and downs of a relationship (in no particular order). It‘s relatable, sweet, and heart wrenching. I also appreciate that except for using the word ‘boyfriend‘ for the unnamed narrator, gender pronouns are not used for the two in the relationship. No matter who you are, this book could be you.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved this book so much!! It was just so different than other books I have read. I loved the way it was written like an actual dictionary telling the story of a relationship. The writing was beautiful and unique and I loved everything about it.
“That's the dilemma, isn't it? When you're single, there's the sadness and joy of "only me." And when you're paired, there's the sadness and joy of "only you.”

“yarn, n.
Maybe language is kind, giving us these double meanings. Maybe it's trying to teach us a lesson, that we can always be two things at once.
Knit me a sweater out of your best stories. Not the day's petty injustices. Not the glimmer of a seven-eights-forgotten moment from your past. Not something that somebody said to somebody, who then told it to you. No, I want a #yarn. It doesn't have to be true.” #QuotsyOct19

#Foundations is definitely a song about a relationship going sour, heading for a break-up...
It made me think of this super clever, unique way to tell a story of a relationship from beginning to end, through dictionary entries. (See examples ⬆️)
Told non-sequentially, it goes from heartbreaking to really funny and back again, with such beautiful use of each chosen word.
An all time favorite this one.... 💕💕💕
This is a very quick read. Seriously. If you have two hours to reach your goodreads goal, you can read this.
It is a story about a relationship told in the form of a dictionary. Each page has its own word. Some pages are one sentence. Others go on to the next page. I think it may also switch back and forth between points of view. A few of the words seemed to be from the other‘s perspective.
#heylove has me remembering this unique dictionary-format take on love ❣️

“Oh, that‘s cool, I would be one of my favorite authors.” David Levithan on reading his own books 😂🤓
Back for seconds!! Remembering how much I loved this book made me scoop it up when I saw it again at the library. Guess that means it‘s destined for my TBB (to be bought) list don‘t ya think? 🤓
With a simplicity that felt at times heart-wrenching or profound, this very fast read was nothing like I was expecting. The back made it sound comedic, but I found it moving and thought-provoking. The development of a romantic relationship is revealed in a non-linear way through dictionary entries. I thought it was very well crafted, though now I feel a bit melancholy.
Interesting book - the story is told with these dictionary entries. I knew you would all like this quote!
I loved this book - funny, original and relatable #dinnerfortwo #aprella
This was a nice book to read in between heavier stuff. I needed a break last night so I picked this up and could have easily read it in one sitting had I not been so tired. I loved the concept of Levithan literally writing a dictionary based on a (fictional) relationship. It was sweet but searing. There wasn‘t enough of a plot to get invested in the actual story, but enough to make it realistic and bittersweet. Great readathon choice.
“yearning, n. and adj. - At the core of this desire is the belief that everything can be perfect.”
I thought this book might be a bit cheesy, but it‘s not at all. Its dictionary format is not just clever, but rendered thoughtfully. Even though we only get glimpses of the relationship, it feels very genuine. It‘s not all rainbows and kittens.
Loving the creative format so far. The story, too.
Stacked after @WanderingBookaneer recommendation on Litsy. Such a unique little gem! Written as dictionary definitions...a sentence to a couple paragraphs in length. Emotion and/or connection in every letter! Consider me charmed 😍! Getting ready to wrap #CupidGoesPostal and some #LitsyLove Used some of the ribbon in my pic. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A photo of last week's #bookoutlet haul in its entirety. So satisfying 😍
Quick bed time read last night. Lovely, quirky, clever book with some thoughtful insights.

#bookhaul My BookOutlet Black Friday haul just arrived! Perfect timing, as I‘m planning on re-organizing my shelves today.... I added another unit to my book case yesterday!
Top two are books I read and loved but wanted to own a copy.... rest are for 2018 TBR....
Special Litsy #bookmail from @Cinfhen Thank you Cindy ❤️❤️ what a lovely package. I am currently eating some Milano‘s with a cup of tea and my feet up for the first time today. The books look great 👍🏻
Love my Litsy friends 💕
#TuneIntoNovember So you want to know #TheTruthAboutLove then you MUST READ The Lover's Dictionary❤️❤️❤️Told in vignettes, as dictionary entries every word takes on a new meaning when talking about falling in and out of love! Brilliant, sad, funny, witty, creative! My first Levithan gifted to me from the remarkable @WanderingBookaneer 😘
#day30 #fallintobooks #bestofseptember I loved The Hopefuls, The Lover's Dictionary, The Girl with all the Gifts and Tin Man.... and liked everything else..... Only 8 again this month which is not great for me, but no DNF's and all picks so happy with that! 😊👍💕📚
I'm not sure if I'd agree with this being 'a novel' as the subtitle suggests, but I really loved it none the less.... A non-linear love story (and it's disintegration) told in vignettes and musings relating to dictionary entries.... abstraction, beguile, contiguous etc..... So creative, poignant and beautiful.... 💕
The book that first introduced me to David Levithan. I love it! A bunch of dictionary entries telling the story of a couple in nonlinear fashion. Absolutely love it. I wish I had a copy!

I absolutely loved this book. It's quite short so it's nothing super engaging and time consuming, but gosh it's worth the money.
Sometimes sad, sometimes made me burst out laughing instead and super light and loving. Plus, I photographed lots of pages and they're pure poetry.
Love, love, love.

This was such a sweet little book that packed a poignant emotional punch for something so light and short. Really enjoyed it.
As you can see it bored Casper though. #dogsoflitsy
I read this book a couple of years ago and decided it was time for a reread. Still love this entry!
What a beautiful brilliant little book! The dissection of a relationship told not chronologically but alphabetically. I know it sounds gimmicky, but David Levithan masterfully creates a powerful story with very few words. This could easily be a #fastread but I choose to savor it a bit longer. A gift from @WanderingBookaneer that convinced me, I need to read more YA 😍 #SpringFlingReading
