Hooked!!! No idea why it took me this long to finally start Bosch🤦🏻♀️ As different as the two are, I loved the book as much as I did the Amazon Original Series.

January 24 #NewYearNewBooks By Author your age. Well I never knew this author was born in 1956. A very good year

I've been watching the Bosch TV series and thought to give the book that started it all a try. It's a bit old-skool with some jarring references, but the underlying plot was twisty and intriguing - and it didn't hurt to have Titus Welliver in my head.
A dead army buddy Bosch knows from his days as a tunnel rat in Vietnam ends up linked to a bank heist the FBI is investigating.
Decent story full of suspense and twists. I was surprised by some of the insensitive language used for a book published in 1992 because I forget what things were like back then. Vietnam is an important part of the plot & it blows my mind to think that 1992 was closer to the Vietnam era than we are now to 1992. The 90s were just yesterday, right?
This was really good with a clever plot and well-developed characters, but it was really Loooong!

The ending of this first Harry Bosch book just doesn‘t make sense in terms of events that happen in later books. Nevertheless, it was still good. Harry is, as always, a real pain. This was our road trip book, and we finished it on the way home from Dauphin Island. Continued with State of Terror on my walks; so much has happened that I can‘t believe I still have 6 hours left! #audiowalk #audiodrive
My husband wanted to start the Harry Bosch books, so the first one is our road trip book. We took a trip to the beach, and I listened to State of Terror on my walk and read Lessons in Chemistry while sitting by the beach. It was extremely foggy there! #audiowalk
DNFing at p165. Way too slow and I‘m bored with the ‘90s misogyny.
Getting back into Harry Bosch while being plugged in for 30 minutes for my infusion. 😀
Starting Harry Bosch while relaxing! 😊 #20in4
I enjoyed the latest books enough that I decided to go back to the beginning. Not bad. This is also when I found out that there's a long-running TV series about Bosch. Shows how much I pay attention to TV, I guess.
After finishing the latest Bosch and Ballard novel, I figured I should get to know Bosch from the beginning.
I ♥️ him, and his experiences in the Vietnam War really came to the fore when he‘s called to the scene of a suspicious death. Connelly lead me down a rabbit hole about “tunnel rats” and the LAPD in the early 90s. Quite a read! Lots to be said about PTSD and its debilitating effects.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
After listening to Trunk Music, I decided I‘d go & read or listen to Bosch from the beginning. Bosch is a great character, as is Los Angeles .When he goes to Barney‘s Beanery and / or Musso & Frank , I want to go back right away. The city is so significant in these books, brings back memories from my time living in Long Beach & exploring the LA area.
Ok, I'm doing this @TrishB
Bosch meets CSI 😂😂….And the show is a must see on Amazon Prime Video ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I just had to check out the source after binging Bosch in its entirety. Thoroughly enjoyable, will definitely continue with the series. It is a little dated and there are some moments of serious cringe, but a fast moving, intricate, and interesting plot with some great characters makes it a pick!
So after binging (and loving) Bosch on Prime, I thought I should read some of the source material. I'm only 8% in, and so far so good. BUT there have been multiple descriptions of Bosch's driving routes through LA, and in my head I immediately hear Armisen and Wigg in The Californians. It's slightly distracting 🤣🤣🤣
Hell yes, this is an excellent book!! Connelly is masterful with his plotting, and I'm still shook that I only recently gave him a shot. I can already tell I'm going to quickly get sucked down the Bosch rabbit hole - it's been a while since I've been this excited to start a series that has a looooong runway. Should keep me pleasantly busy 😆 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My favorite crotchety Angeleno. #20Series20Days #Top20Series
LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch is that smoking, badly behaving American police we all know. He was also in Vietnam, and so is the man who was found murdered. In fact, Harry knew him. But, who killed him and why? I had a hard time getting into this book, mainly because the subject does not really interest me. The book had nice twists and turns, and I enjoyed it towards the end.
Tried to take a nice pic of my library haul today, but it‘s not going to happen. Happy that I can get books from the library again!
🎧 Audible special edition of the first Bosch book. Yes I own and have read the original but the actor does a great job of narrating the new books so ... take my money Audible. It was great just like the newer books he narrates! There‘s also an interview with Titus Welliver after the book. If you like Bosch, books and/or show you‘ll probably enjoy this! Loved it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️2/3
Quarantine PSA: Now might be the perfect time to dive into a new series. Connelly has a massive backlist, not to mention the fab show (new season, April 17), and crossovers between his various series. I‘d always put off starting the Bosch books because there were so many to catch up on, not anymore!
If you‘re doing the popsugar reading challenge, this series have 20+ books 🤓
Harry Bosch, Hollywood homicide detective, catches the call for a dead body in a drain pipe. The victim is a face from the past and he is knows that it‘s a murder made to look like a heroine overdose.
I was positive this would be a pick for me as l‘ve a read a couple later Bosch books and the Mickey Haller series. I only wish my library had the audiobook on Libby as CDs are more of a pain. I will still pick up the next one on CD though, lol.
The first Harry Bosch story. I enjoyed this one. I‘ve read several others but going back to the beginning and seeing some of the background for future ones was great.
Okay! I have decided I‘d enjoy Little Women more as an audiobook. I found a great version on audible. That will be my next listen after The Tommyknockers. My physical read will now be this one. I started watching the show and love it. I‘m using my cat‘s booty as a book stand. 😹
📚: 48/52 (not counting Little Women now since I‘m waiting to finish Tommyknockers)
Overall this was a good read, but at times it was a bit of a chore to get through and not helped by the acronyms used regularly in the book. I did enjoy the resolution of the story. I do know this is a high quality series so perhaps this was just Michael trying to find his style with his first book. I will see how the series develops in the next couple.

For anyone interested, this is the link to the Group Read of The Black Echo on Librarything.

Started reading The Black Echo as part of a Group Read I am doing on Librarything. We are aiming to read all the books in The Harry Bosch Universe in order.
Currently at 6 hrs 19 minutes in the #24B4Monday Readathon and at 377 Pages in the #SummersEndReadathon (target 4000 Pages). This is after reading more than half of After The Party by Lis Jewell this afternoon / evening.
This is the schedule for the Group Read of The Black Echo which I am leading on Librarything. We are looking to read all the books in the Harry Bosch Universe Reading a book every few months, most probably over a number of years 😂
All welcome to join us, either on Litsy or on Librarything. Once the group is set up I will post a link on Litsy.
The schedule of this one is quite even due to the structure of the book. Today‘s section is shorter.
Watching Bosch on Amazon Prime, thought I'd try the books. This was Connelly's first, so a little rough around the edges. Noir, for sure!
And we‘re done! Working out my TBR for the Magical Readathon before I decide what to pick up next. (I passed 12 OWLs, but I don't think I can pass the number of NEWTs required for Alchemy). #magicalreadathon
Like other readers I chose to read this series after finding the show on Amazon Prime. The Black Echo was a great opener for the series. The key elements of his back story are intermingled with the case. It cements the reader‘s interest that guarantees they will pick up the next novel.
Just two traveller‘s notebooks to make and then I can settle down and get some reading done. #notbookrelated #offtopic
I love a good police procedural (The Closer is my favorite) so I watched Bosch and decided to read the book. It was really well done. So much that if I couldn‘t listen, I made sure I had to book to read a few pages here and there.
Just taken advantage of the 2 for 1 sale on Audible! I couldn't resist getting Paul Sinha's History Revision for free (me, #AddictedtoTheChase as usual)!
Half watched an episode of Bosch on Prime with my mom and dad. I was also reading Thick.
What I call my parents “murdering shows”, I‘ve never really been into, though. My mom has also read most of the Bosch books, which is not my thing either.
BUT, Bosch fans, what do you think of the book versus the series?
A very slow moving book.. I have read better thrillers , would follow the series and finish all but it was not worth the hype
I learned about this book right here, on Litsy! Michael Connelly does not disappoint with this first novel in the Harry Bosch series! I am hooked and will be reading more! Now, just wondering.... how many do I need to read before checking out the TV series?? Thoughts?
1. I sponsored six kids in this class so they could each get the $1 book from Scholastic once a month all school year. Here is the class with their first book!
2. My famous spaghetti sauce.
3. Watching Gotcha Day Live through Tracysdogs on Facebook. 40 some dogs rescued from high kill shelters will be going to their forever homes! Should be about 4 pm on Saturday live.
4. Michael Connelly
5. Apple cider at the orchard.

I should have seen that ending coming. Still, it was a good read, and one I‘ve had on my kindle forever. First book of #twointhree !
Forgot to take Bosch downstairs for lunch, so snacks and a few minutes before lunch ends. #librarianlunch
I love the show Bosch and ready to delve into Connelly's works. #sundayreads
