Endless Night | Agatha Christie
Some are born to sweet delight, Some are born to endless night . . . When penniless Michael Rogers discovers the beautiful house at Gypsys Acre and then meets the heiress Ellie, it seems that all his dreams have come true at once. But he ignores an old womans warning of an ancient curse, and evil begins to stir in paradise. As Michael soon learns: Gypsys Acre is the place where fatal accidents happen.

4/5 ✨

One of the most published authors of all time, and she never disappoints. The twists and turns of her storytelling always hold me. A slow burn thriller/mystery.

Spooky and atmospheric, which I love, but the story seemed to meander and the audio could be hard for me to follow. I really wanted to like this one but it just didn‘t quite hit the mark for me.

When you read enough Agatha Christie novels, they start to become predictable. That being said, this one is short and thoroughly enjoyable. Despite the fact that I had it figured out by the end. This is a stand alone novel, none of the usual characters.

Here are my choices for Round 10 #LMPBC #GroupN

These are the 4 I own that I haven‘t read. 3 of them are Poirot. I did start reading The Last Seance. It‘s short stories, but I‘m only 2 stories in I think.

Endless Night sounds really good and I‘d be okay buying that one if people are interested in that one.

Let me know what you think!

Marmie7 The only one I've read is endless night. Any of the others would be fine❤ 2y

Good heavens, I have a new favorite Agatha Christie. This statement is fairly meaningless as pretty much 6 of 7 books I've read so far have been favorites (I was a bit less enthusiastic with Halloween Party). I know that as prolific an author as she was I will inevitably encounter less stellar entries & that's a price I'll gladly pay for her masterpieces. Contemporary thrillers wouldn't exist without Dame Agatha. Period.

catiewithac This is one of my favorites!! 3y
vivastory @catiewithac The twist! So brilliant!! She left clues, but I was completely blindsided. It was so well-done! 3y

I read this between June 9 & 28; and gave it 3.5 ⭐️ on Good Reads. It‘s not your normal Christie murder mystery and is more of a proto-psychological thriller. For awhile I thought it was going to be more horror with ghosts than mystery. My biggest problem was the book dragged for too long before it became a whodunnit.

‘Every Night and every Morn
Some to Misery are born.
Every Morn and every Night
Some are born to Sweet Delight.
Some are born to Sweet Delight,
Some are born to Endless Night.‘
(epigraph from W. Blake)
A young man marries an heiress and settles down in their dream home in Gypsy‘s Acre, where accidents happen, believed to be the curse of the local Gypsies.

This is one of my top 5 Christie, a story of menacing suspense.

Wow. That is how I feel after reading this book. At the end it had my heart racing and I could feel goosebumps up and down my arms. Agatha Christie is truly the Queen Of Mystery and suspense as it shows in here. Just when you think you have it all figured out, she throws a twist you never saw coming. This is truly a must read for any fan of mystery books.📚⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #EndlessNight #AgathaChristie #book #Mystery #Fiction #Crime #Classics #books 💞💞

One of Agatha Christie's strange books where there is no mystery to be solved in the usual way and the first-person narrator only later tells all. Not a terrible read but not her best.

Rank as one of Agatha Christie‘s personal favourites, this psychological thriller‘s title is derived from William Blake‘s poem. It stands apart from her usual style. Exploring the themes of evil and choices, the book has a wonderful macabre feel, a grim atmosphere, and an aura of doom throughout.

Some are born to endless night.”

This was a pretty quick read but I really enjoyed it. Mike is a chauffeur that definitely has a taste for the finer things in life when he comes across Gipsy's Acre.. shortly after he runs across the very wealthy Ellie, they fall in love and marry quickly before her family can object. They then start getting strange warnings from Mrs. Lee that leaves the couple questionable and suspicious.. to take advice or not and where does the danger lie..

hlgreenfield The ending to this book really caught me off guard! It's a little bit different from the usual Agatha Christie whodunnit's but I really liked it. 5y
