I liked this for a lot of reasons—representation, characters that felt familiar—but what I liked the most was how the book made the protagonist ignorant or naive in some ways but also more perceptive than her parents in other ways. It made the dynamics between the characters a lot more complex and authentic, with each character getting their own flaws and strengths, with no one reducible to a simple stereotype.

1. This is a modern reimagining of Pretty In Pink. 👚
2. Tough one. I gotta go with Reese‘s Cups. 🍫🥜
3. Gen-X! ☕️
4. Burt‘s Bees lip balm. 🐝
5. Seeing a stage production of Les Mis...unless it snows! 🎭
Starting a new book tonight, all cozy under a blanket. #amreading
I honestly am unsure what to say about this book, the main character Margot is so awful, whiny and needy that it's hard to root for her at all. I wanted to really love her and this book and use it to create some diverse curriculum but I'm not sure we are ready for such an unlikeable protagonist.
Looking for a book set in the summer? Try this quick read with a gorgeous cover. It's like a classic YA summer book with teen angst and rebellion, a dreaded summer job, and a new crush. But it's also so much more than that. Fans of The Hate U Give will like this one. #recommendsday
Here's my full gushing review about it:

Fantastic from beginning to end. I love Margot Sanchez and I'll miss her.
Love this cover. Can't wait to start reading. This might be my weekend book.
Spent my lazy Sunday lounging and reading this moving YA novel. It was very fast-paced. Great character development. Perfect end to April reading.
P.S.: I did it. Finished a #IndieBookstoreDay buy. @8little_paws
I have thought to myself, "My God was I THIS STUPID as a teenager?" about 85xs since I started this book. These kids are dumb. Not that the book is poorly written. The book is excellent. The characters are authentic, which is why all the teenagers are stupid.
Gonna try to get like @8little_paws and finish an #IndieBookstoreDay buy before the weekend is done.
Life is still chaotic but grabbing every chance I get to catch up on reading (I'm sooooo behind it's not even funny).
I think this might be good for book club? What do you think?
This wonderful book is all about family to me, it's what stood out the most. How sometimes families can be broken and hard to live with but you love them anyways. Some things are universal like strict parents and hard headed brothers. I loved the characters and the cute love interest though it had a rough start. This was a fun story to read and get caught up in, I needed the characters connection and it definitely delivered.
"When I saw the cover of that ARC, featuring an illustration of what was clearly a teenage Latina girl with thick curly hair, I knew I had to have it."

Picked up these beautiful holds today at my public library.
Happy happy, joy joy!🤗
I am extremely guilty of not reading enough YA & this book reminded me that I need to get my act together! I found this book not only well written & plot driven but most importantly in its ability to capture the realities of life. From Growing up in a family that's slowly falling apart to not being able to find ur place in the world; this read definitely taught me more then I could ever have expected. Lilliam Rivera: SOLD on ur books all the way!
These arrived today! And tomorrow The Hate U Give gets here. 😊
I wanted to read this for the past couple of months. It was soooo worth the wait! I really loved reading this book.
Holy smokes between starting a new job and diving Into my reading pile, I have been completely disconnected from Litsy. That makes me so sad! How is everyone doing?!
#riotGrams favorite book cover (more catch-up!): I totally agree with this review and I've loved this cover since it was first revealed. 😍
From debut author Lilliam Rivera comes #TheEducationofMargotSanchez a coming of age story about family and making the righty choices
Margot's voice and sharp and so fitting to her age. The novel follows her personal growth, and is filled with moments of surprising sincerity about family, relationships, and community. I loved watching the unfolding of a character many #woc can relate to: a young girl caught between the secrets/responsibility of family and the development of her own social world. Read it, then give to a young girl you love 💛 #bookstagram #diversebooks
So ready to read this.
Still working on my review of this, but I really enjoyed it!
It had been too long since I put up a review on Litsy. And I didn't even notice, so here's a second review back to back! The Education Of Margot Sanchez comes out on 2/21/2017. I loved it! 4.5/5

This has been my lunch break read for the past few days. I totally get Margot and her "I hate everything" stance when she really just wants to fit in and not feel like an awkward teenager. We've all been there, Margot. #teenlibrarian
So, it's been a stressful last couple of days...
I'm devastated, still recovering from Trump being elected president.. I haven't done any reading until tonight. I read one chapter of this lovely little book and hope to read for the rest of the night. Let's see how far I get. I really need to escape into a book tonight, so I hope Margot Sanchez's story grabs me!

My #NovemberTBR for #photoadaynov16
I am not going to commit to a TBR this month because I am TERRIBLE at adhering to it. I didn't read all the books I posted for my October TBR, instead I read ones I didn't even plan on.🙈
So here are a few books I would love to get to in Nov. But no pressure on myself if I don't!
Btw, this ARC of The Education of Margot Sanchez came in today.😱😇

Liberty's fun Friday: meet Dinky who is known as The Goat. She will swallow anything that fits in her pie-hole, will lose her shit if she spots a cat blocks away, and tries to play with iguanas who do not want to play with her. But she doesn't destroy my books so we're good.
Can't wait to get my hands on this one!!!!
