Not been able to read much as I‘ve had a virus which has floored me for weeks. Managed to finish this last night and absolutely loved it!!
Is the film worth a watch?

Chocolate is one of my favorite indulgences. This is my favorite book featuring chocolate.

I have to agree with @CoffeeNBooks – chocolate covered pretzels are yummy! My faves are these dark chocolate ones from Trader Joe‘s. The perfect reading snack!

Mmmmmm salivary response 🤤
(Also, love the tagged book & film)
This and tiramisu are 2 favorites. I‘ve made and served decadent mousse many times over the years…

Chocolat by Joanne Harris
The book, the story, the film, the acting, the actors, everything so perfect.
Some of my favorite chocolate titles, with a background of my favorite chocolate food: ganache!!

19. Chocolate
Loved the movie, but I hated the book 🙈
Vianne Rocher and her daughter Anouk moved to the small, conservative town of Lansquenet at the beginning of Lent and opens a chocolaterie, much to the frustration of the local priest Reynaud and his followers.
Full of characters from the ball-busting Armande to the abused Josephine, the proud Roux and the gentle Guillaume, Vianne gathers a new family around her and changes their lives with her strength, her chocolate, and her magic.
This book is CHOC-full of treats. 😏 🍫

Went to library to pick up my summer reading program goodies I earned. 🎉📚 And got the tagged because while I‘ve seen the movie, I‘ve never read the book. #supportyourlibrary

So a much more riske choice, I pick Chocolat. Love of chocolate is definitely found in both film and book. 😉 🍫 ❤️
I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would! This whole time I thought it was a romance and it was so much more than that! I blame the movie for making me think that way. JH's writing is spectacular.
I dont see how anyone can celebrate dying...You dont, I told her. Life is what you celebrate. All of itm Even its end.
...returning to a city where you lived before is like coming home to an old friend.
Places all have their own characters...
Happiness. Simple as a glass of chocolate or tortuous as the heart. Bitter. Sweet. Alive.
...Id also say that you are entitled to your beliefs . As long as they make you happy.
I dont thing there is such a thing as a good or bad Christian. Only good or bad people.
Now making chocolate is a different matter.Oh, some skill is required. A certain lightness of touch, speed, a patience...But the formula remains the same every time. It is safe. Harmless.
....Chocolate curls, white buttons with colored vermicelli, pain d-epices with gilded edging, marzipan fruits in their nests of ruffled paper, peanut brittle, clusters, cracknells, assorted misshapes in half kilo boxes....
[what a lovely picture] *mouth water*
I sell dreams, small comforts, sweet harmless temptations to bring down a multitude of saints crash-crash-crashing among the hazels and nougatines...
...the wind blowing the folds of his soutane into the shop like the wings of a blackbird.
Everyone needs a little luxury, a little self-indulgence from time to time.
Rock salt and bread by the doorstep to placate any resident gods. Sandalwood on our pillow to sweeten our dreams.
First line: We came on the wind of the carnival.
Last line: That this time--please, just this once-- it will leave without us.
The descriptions of the chocolate have me craving all kinds of sweets!
Enjoying this Saturday immensely!
Enjoying my yummy lunch with a great book, sitting in my car listening to the rain. Happy Friday!
I loved this slow, heartwarming, delicious (in every sense of the word) book. I was pleasantly surprised by how little plot there was, just characters orbiting around each other, thinking meaningful things and describing chocolate in so, so, so, so much wonderful detail.
Someone broke into the Christmas presents 🎁 that‘s what we get for leaving them under the tree 🎄🤷♀️
WOW everyone! One day of signups and we are at over 100 participants already.
I guess you all like books and chocolate.
