I really can‘t decide which audio book to listen to next. I just finished Burn For Me and I liked it but I‘m not sure that I want to jump into the whole series. Kate Daniels looks interesting to me and full cast audio is very compelling. Any thoughts from the #Littens?

I don‘t know if #recommendsday is still a thing here, but I sure could use some recommendations. I‘ve been reading the Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews and really liking it. I‘m wondering if any #Littens have other urban fantasy suggestions. The fewer vampires the better (if that even exists.)

Scochrane26 I just read A Touch of Darkness, which I think is considered urban fantasy. If you don‘t mind some spice that‘s more on erotica side, it was good. 2mo

Leniverse I second the Mercy Thompson series. There are some vampires there, but they are side characters. Also "Rivers of London". I don't recall any vampires in those, and they are amazing on audio if that's your thing at all. 2mo

Luke-XVX I‘m currently reading the 1st book in the Sandman Slim series, only 60 pages in and no vampires so far…. 2mo

MeganAnn Echoing all the love for the Mercy Thompson series! I‘m hoping to do a reread of that series sometime later this year. Also one of my favorites is the Hollows series by Kim Harrison (book 1 tagged). It does have some vampires but our main character Rachel is a witch and the world is filled with all kinds of magical creatures including pixies (Jenks, her pixie friend is my favorite), demons, werewolves, elves, etc…

MeganAnn Another of my favorites is The Bone Season series by Samantha Shannon. No vampires. Shannon creates such a richly detailed & unique alternate London that I find fascinating. Definitely read the author‘s revised 10th anniversary editions released last year as she went through & revised the text to make it the story she wanted to write but wasn‘t a good enough writer to pull off at 19 when it was originally published.

There‘s been a lot on my mind, and Heather Cox Richardson‘s post this morning puts it into words so eloquently. She‘s an amazing political historian who bases everything she says on facts and history. But, this weekend is usual routines, with Sunday being a family get together. These checkins are so nice. You don't have to pay for it if you don't want to. She is also doing an audio version if you're interested in that. It comes out later in the day. Did you see the post she wrote the day after the election? And her posts generally take less than 10 minutes to read. 5mo

I also heard her speak a few weeks ago at a virtual event, and I was struck by how articulate and knowledgeable she is. I have her books and really need to read them. The people being really quiet because they don‘t dare say hate out loud and actually do know how dangerous it is now for me, and my students especially, (and a large population of people that live in the US) is hard to digest. Deja Dead: A Novel | Kathy Reichs

My lovely, clever, marvelous #Littens . I recently started rewatching Bones. And I‘ve realized I haven‘t read any of the books that the show is based on.

Are they any good? Should I give them a try?

Ruthiella It‘s been ages since I read one. As I recall, they were pretty good. I think, however, the TV show is not an adaptation of the books but more loosely based on Kathy Reichs real life. 12mo

vlwelser The books are good. But they have no relation to the show. You should try one. But think of it as a separate thing. 12mo

julesG What the others said. The books are good, but it's definitely not about the TV serie's Tempe. I'd say the novels are the fictional/exaggerated story of Kathy's job. 12mo

thebacklistbook According to an interview the TV series is about Kathy Reichs but she wasn't comfortable being directly depicted so they named the character after Tempe instead. The books are in my opinion good. As long as you don't go in expecting to recognize stuff from the show. 12mo
