This was a fun cozy mystery. The audiobook added to the experience as well. It did include some Bridgerton, Shakespeare, and Star Wars spoilers, so beware 🤣

BookishMarginalia Well… I‘m going to say the In Death series — who doesn‘t love Eve and Roarke, Leonardo and Mavis, Peabody and McNabb…. 4d
TheBookHippie Ummmmmm 😅🫣🤷🏻‍♀️ not my genre. 4d
TheBookgeekFrau Not really a romance, but a damn good love story 4d
See All 11 Comments
Karisa Life with Picasso was written by his longtime lover, Francoise Gilot who was 40 years his junior and suffered his abuse. Also read the Epstein survivor‘s book and 1984… Maybe the opposite of romantic has been my reading theme this year 😂 4d
xicanti I just finished a book where the prince of Christmas and the prince of St Patrick‘s Day fell in love, and it was mostly a little tediously silly but then it got pretty good near the end. Enough so I‘ll probably read the next in the series, where I assume the princess of Easter falls in love with someone. 🤷‍♀️ 4d
Cupcake12 In November I read ‘All wrapped up‘ by Heidi Swan. It was based around a pumpkin festival so a perfect theme for the time of year. I loved the two main characters and would love it to be made into a movie. 4d
julesG @RaeLovesToRead shared the advent calendar prompt on WhatsApp last night. You should team up. 😉 Last finished romance was Christmas Fling. My current fantasy ARC has a romance subplot 4d
RaeLovesToRead I'm currently reading Get a Life, Chloe Brown, so probably that! Not really my genre though 😅 4d
PurpleyPumpkin I‘m not a huge romance fan, but I‘ve actually read a couple on this bookshelf! 4d
Deblovestoread I‘m currently listening to this one. Not my usual genre but funny and spicy. 4d
LeafingThroughLife I‘m not a huge romance reader, but this year I loved the romance in 2d

Well this one didn‘t end up where I expected! I enjoyed it, though the main character‘s casual pettiness and 1950s prejudices were annoying, even in a period mystery. I don‘t have much patience for it. I really enjoyed the audiobook narrator and loved my #immersionreading of print + audio. (And no, it‘s not really a holiday book 🤨)

BookishMarginalia I used to read the #OprahBookClub picks once upon a time. Now I dabble in different picks as the mood strikes. My fave book club read this year is from my Monday book club: 6d
RaeLovesToRead I've only just heard about the Audacious book club and now I am excited! 🥰 6d
lil1inblue @RaeLovesToRead Tell me more.... 🤓 6d
See All 25 Comments
RaeLovesToRead @lil1inblue It's Roxane Gay's book club! 6d
lil1inblue I read so many good books this year; it's hard to pick. But this is one that I wish I had read with a group, because it was soooo good: 6d
AmyG No clue what book that is. I used to read Oprah‘s, too. Now I find that I am wnjoying some of Jenna Bush‘s books. 6d
lil1inblue @RaeLovesToRead OMG, now I'm excited, too! *runs to google* 6d
dabbe What a fun game! I enjoyed finishing the #noplacelikeholmes buddy read where we read the whole canon. I also enjoyed finished the #shardlakebr where we read all the Matthew Shardlake books by C.J. Sansom. And I loved all the books we read this year with the #hashtagbrigade, led by the invincible @BarkingMadRead. 🩵☃️🩶 6d
TheBookHippie @RaeLovesToRead oh I‘m so in for this. 6d
TheBookHippie I have tried IRL Bookclub 😵‍💫🫣 they don‘t read the book and get together to bash their partners and I want no part of that. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 back in the day I would check out Oprah but it‘s been a long long long time. My favourite “bookclub” is my #SUNDAYBUDDYREAD and I think our November book was my favorite (edited) 6d
TheBookgeekFrau I read Flowers for Algernon for an IRL bookclub. Haven't followed a celebrity book club since the OG Oprah one. I have to say I kind of resent those book club seals on book covers; they interfere with the esthetic 😤 As for the trivia question yeah, no clue 😂 6d
Karisa @TheBookHippie That was my experience too! So awkward showing up as the only one that wanted to talk about the book. 🤓😂🤣 6d
Karisa I‘ve read so many great ones this year with Litsy people! Life with Picasso, 1984, Fearless, Woodworking, Wild Dark Shore, and The Death of the Author are some that first come to mind. Always a great discussion with the book groups on Litsy! 🥰💗🥰💗 6d
TheBookHippie @Karisa SOLIDARITY. 6d
lil1inblue @karisa @TheBookHippie I'm glad I'm not alone in my IRL book club experience. ? Not only do they not read or discuss the book, but it always ends up being a book I'm meh about reading. I much prefer litsy "clubs". ? 6d
Karisa @lil1inblue 🎯 🥰 6d
WanderingBookaneer @TheBookHippie and @Karisa : I run a book club, Books on Tap, that meets at a local brewery. We don‘t have assigned books. People just share what they read during the past month. Some of us bring books to hand out after we‘ve read them. 6d
TheBookHippie @WanderingBookaneer I want to join. ♥️ 5d
Karisa @WanderingBookaneer That‘s the way to do it! 😊🥰 5d
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick The tagged is probably the best of book club fiction that I read this year. I don't really follow many of the celebrity ones. If I happen to choose one they've selected, great, but I tend to like things a little weird and they're usually very standard books. 5d
Cupcake12 I loved reading this book club read. I don‘t normally like historical reads but this captured my heart from the start. I dolly the Happy Place Book club by Fearne Cotton - a tv presenter, podcaster in the UK. 5d
tpixie @WanderingBookaneer that‘s a cool 😎 sounding Bookclub!! 5d
tpixie I generally don‘t read celebrity book club books although I did just love Sarah Jessica Parker‘s imprint book I Am You that a few of my recent post about. My in real life Bookclub also doesn‘t stand focus or go as in depth because I would like to go with a Bookclub, but I‘ve continued because it‘s the only social thing I do each month. I get much more out of my #LitsyBuddyReads and @litsybookclub books. 5d
LeafingThroughLife I used to follow Oprah‘s Book Club pretty closely, but lately I think I, probably unwittingly, am following Reese‘s Book Club with more success. This year, I loved 2d

xicanti THE SECOND CHANCE BOOK CLUB by Stephanie Butland. There was no distance between me and any of the characters. I lived their emotions right alongside them. (edited) 7d
Karisa Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor was so innovative and compelling a read. It has staying power. I keep recommending it! 7d
Karisa @BookishMarginalia 😊 I‘m often the same way! So many good books out there and I fall in love with many 7d
tpixie 2025 favorites are The Correspondent- I listened to the audio and the narrators were great and I just think the story was wonderful. My Friends- Bachman writes just the right mix of tragedy and humor and the human experience. (edited) 7d
AmyG My favorite was Wild Dark Shore - Charlotte McConaghy. Many damaged characters and joy/sadness. My kind of book. (edited) 7d
tpixie @AmyG My sister told me to read this. It‘s high on my TBR! (edited) 6d
