#BookCoverChallenge
Day 249.
Here I will note 365 books (or as many as I will have before I get tired) that have shaped my taste in literature. No explanations, no reviews. Just the cover of the book.
I do not challenge anyone. You are all welcome to take part.
I want this tattoo…except instead of a moon, I‘d like a pie, please.
Now, all I have to do is score an appointment with @ gemma_tattooer & book a flight to Seoul. 💜🥧🎨 Simple! 😅
Despite being in print since 1955, I hadn‘t read this until I found it on a booklist about "radical acceptance." What does Harold have to do with this? React, don't panic. Accept things out of your control. Problem-solve with simple solutions. Plus, Harold and his crayon have a trusting relationship. Sometimes one takes the lead, sometimes the other. Even though their walk has mild-scary moments, it ultimately brings them home. #dw2020reads
#7days7books. Because Harold taught me I could go anywhere and do anything just by using my imagination.
Harold and the Purple Crayon takes readers through a journey of a toddler who‘s magically using this purple crayon to create and draw stuff. This leads him through many adventures! I actually remember this book being read to me many many many years ago by a teacher who then challenged us to draw with a purple crayon. I think teachers could even take it a step further and have students close their eyes and draw the imagery that comes to mind!
Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson won the National Parenting Publications Book Awards is a F picture book about a little boy and his adventures with a purple crayon. Using his imagination he draws with his crayon and everything comes to life. I would absolutely use this as a S in the classroom and read it the same week I read the day the crayons 🖍quit. ESOL strategy 6, continually monitor students‘ comprehension.#UCAE3414SP20
Armed only with an oversized purple crayon, young Harold draws himself a landscape full of wonder and excitement. 💜💜

Wrote about “Harold and the Purple Crayon” for my Final Reflection for LSC 530: Children's Materials and Services. Also, wrote about pie.
I'm one step closer to my Master's Degree. One step closer to a career as a Children's Librarian (rather than working as a library assistant, forever and anon).
Here's the link, if you're interested in reading it!

Harold and the Purple Crayon is a very cute and fun MF picture book about a little boy named Harold and his magic crayon. He can use it to draw different things and have them come to life, I would recommend it any young children.

Loved getting a chance to revisit this classic! Harold‘s imagination is wonderful and my favorite part has always been all the pies! 🥧 🥧 🥧 #Bbrc #picturebooksatoz @LibrarianRyan
Working on learning Spanish... pretty “hard” to read, but feeling incredibly accomplished!!
#TheChild #StarTrekSummerMay
This is a favorite book for me to give at showers and early childhood birthdays. It‘s such a fun, creative book.
I have these friends, and their 4-year-old daughter took to their mudroom on the walls saying, “Hattie and the purple crayon!” while drawing with a...purple crayon! They kept it on the wall for years. 😂😂
I almost got this t-shirt at the recent Out of Print sale. Maybe next time! 😊💜🖖🏻
what can one little boy bring to like with a single purple crayon? boats, a hungry moose, pies, moons, and his bedroom window just to name a few.

Harold and the Purple Crayon is a F picture book about a little boy and his adventures. The book, along with the illustrations, show how one night Harold decides to go on an adventure with his purple crayon. Whatever he draws with his crayon suddenly comes to life and he can use, play, eat, etc. whatever he decided to draw. This book could be told in a storytelling(S) or even partner reading(PR) followed by the lesson plan.

And...the best #purple book ever!

Harold and The Purple Crayon is a modern fantasy about a boy named Harold who decides to go on a moonlight walk with a giant purple crayon. As he continues his journey he draws his adventures and landscapes with his imagination and crayon. This book would be great for grades Kindergarten- 3rd. #UCFWaltersLit

Harold and the Purple Crayon is a fiction fantasy book, that takes the reader on a story of a four year old boy named Harold. One night Harold takes a walk in the moonlight, and draws the world around him on his way home. I believe this book is great for RT because it tells a story and the story takes you on an adventure.

I have always loved this book. Purple has always been my favorite color and I did a lot of imagining as a child. I related to Harold building a whole world with just his crayon. I love it so much that I bought a Doctor Who/Harold mash-up shirt earlier this year. #sentimental #fallintobooks
I was tagged by @bookish22 for the #bookcolortag. Here's a sampling of some purple books I have. I tag @GinEyre22 and @huntersmom1977 if they haven't done this yet. I give them the color pink.
Couldn't help thinking about this family favorite when my kiddo drew her way along the beach. #oregoncoast

I think my new Doctor Who shirt counts for #childish
This was one of my favorite books as a child, because I'm a purple lover prone to daydreaming and I loved the idea that Harold's imaginary world became real. Shippo decided to be in the picture too. #catsoflitsy #maybookflowers
"Shush! We're in a library!"
Nathan's idea of showing our guest the highlights of the city is taking a trolley to the library.

I asked Owen (4.3y) what he liked about this book and he said he "loved the purple city" that "Harold is drawing."
So, my daughter hates children's books. I think it overwhelms her to be read to and shown pictures (idk why....since she watches tv). She does like if I read her poetry or nursery rhyme books. I want to try audio books for her. I think she might like them. Suggestions for audio books with simple stories? She usually prefers deep voices and hates shrill or high pitched voices or sounds (which tends to rule out anything made for kids). #audiobooks
When I was very little, I requested this be read to me over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. My mother grew to HATE this book. #favoritechildrensbook #riotgrams
I don't have any bookish tattoos yet, but I have a lot of #bookishgoods ... several buttons, t-shirts, a few bags, a water bottle that says "Do You Even Read, Bro?" From Bookriot, jewelry, and of course Oscar hangs around the house. Missing are my mini Kurt Vonnegut and a red Great Gatsby t-shirt.
I've been up all night. My baby woke up at 1am gasping for air. I rushed him to the ER. It's just croup but seeing him unable to breathe was terrifying. He was a champ and didn't cry. We read Harold and the Purple Crayon while people poked and prodded. He's finally breathing better and asleep. Not sure if he'll have to be admitted yet. This following the week we had... I just need something good to happen.
#Booktober - #rereads When I was a little kid and my parents would read this to me every night before bed. Almost as soon as the book was finished, I'd say 'AGAIN' and they'd reread it to me- several times I have fond memories of this book. Needless to say, my parents do not.😉
Happy Birthday, Crockett Johnson! #OOPquote
I like Harold. He's got a great imagination and he's really considerate!
