This word made me think of Scarlett. Wonder why? 🤔😂😃
This whole book is a pro slavery and anti people of color propaganda! This depicts slaves being happy, inhuman and deserving of punishment. My mom is an accountant for a library, and she heard this book was a donation and said that the book was shredded and rightfully so.
This book is really hard to review. There‘s no doubt Margaret Mitchell is a phenomenal author, but the racism in this book was hard to take. Scarlet O‘Hara was a very memorable character despite her many, many flaws, and I thought the ending was perfect. #ChunksterChallenge2023
I completely forgot I‘m responsible for salads and desserts for 35 people tonight. Thank goodness I have 22 hours left on this chunkster so I can keep reading. #JoyousJanuary #Sharreadathon
One of my goals for next year is to read the unread chunksters on my shelf. #ChunksterChallenge2023 @Amiable

My Meme, my mother's mother was the vivacious matriarch of our family. She passed away in 2003. Her favorite book and movie was Gone With The Wind. She was a fantastic cook. I was lucky enough to grow up with her next door 💞

Halfway through my 2022 TBR.
I planned to read these 8 big books during this year and 4 of them are still missing 😅 I'll do my best to reach my goal

📚 May I go with Gone with the wind? I'm still reading it and I'm loving it
👤 Robert Galbraith aka J.K. Rowling
🎬 Gone with the wind
👨🎤 Guns 'n roses
🎤 Ghost of you - My Chemical Romance
I can't wait to read that scene in the book!
I always loved that dress! In my opinion is the most iconic dress in the entire movie 😍
#Aphabetgame I read this book when I was 18 after I had watched the movie. And while the story of the indomitable Scarlett and Rhett Butler is absorbing it is also very underrated as an anti war book. Also add to that list of underrated anti war books is Captain Correllis mandolin.
#BookReport - The windowsill has remained mostly static this week. I always forget how nice weather cuts into reading time!! I've had so many outside projects underway, but things are starting to come together. I've included a picture of the side garden so you can see where my reading time has really been spent!! I checked off two of my chapter-a-day(ish) reads this week (bottom picture), but only one windowsill book, although I'm almost ⬇
1. Yes

Anyway, WHAT IS THIS COVER?

2. Definetely no! I will work until the end of the month and I hate to drive while snowing 😅
Just finished chunkster number 3!! I read this 30 years ago, but I loved it so much more this time around. Gone With The Wind was also my #bookspin for September.
I‘m so glad I have a little time for this very real book hangover before I start Lonesome Dove on 10/1. Love! Love! Love!

I‘m almost 2/3 of the way through...and in other news, we adopted a new dog! Meet Daisy (she‘s quite the nervous Nellie)!

So, now that I‘m about 100 pages in, I‘m pretty sure I read this in high school. This might be my longest re-read...until I tackle War and Peace again. 🤣

Here we go! My third chunkster of the year! I‘m planning on 15 pages per day and should finish by the end of September!

1-14 July 2021 (audiobook)
I watched the movie so often in my childhood and teens and, as a hopeless romantic, wished for an alternate ending. I also read the book and the sequel, Scarlett, which even as a teen I knew was not great but was willing to forgive to see Rhett and Scarlett together.
Reading today, I was shocked by the depiction of the klan and the relentless racism. ⬇️

Day 3
This book was a sweet torture, at one minute you are completely thrown off course by the startling intensity of the passion described, and the next you are made to shamefully submit your desire for more by the painful shunning out through raw practicality of life. I was simultaneously crying, shouting, happy, frustrated and all the more perplexed by how the events in the story unfolded. It definitely took a heavy toll on my heart 💔
COVETOUS: having or showing a great desire to possess something belonging to someone else.
Scarlett O‘Hara coveted Melanie Wilkes‘ husband Ashley in a serious way...but as time passed, Scarlett FOUND the sad truth of the situation..

Had a struggle getting into Adjustment Day, so I‘m going to try to digest it in smaller pieces. While browsing my bookcase, I remembered I had this older edition of Gone with the Wind that I picked up a couple years ago in NC. 1954 Perma Book edition. It was obviously well-loved before ending up in my hands. #gonewiththewind #margaretmitchell #classic #booktomovie #paperback
A first-edition copy of Margaret Mitchell‘s Gone with the Wind is noteworthy in its own right, but this one contains a secret: a hidden compartment used to conceal a .32-caliber pistol. The FBI's Laboratory Division received this artifact in 1941, but they were unable to identify the weapon.

So long. So whiny. So racist. I am so very happy to be done.
A true American classic, Gone With The Wind truly does live up to its reputation. It is a magnificent, page-turner of a book, and although quite a long book, kept me interested from the very 1st page. With the backdrop of the American Civil War and the years of recovery, the glorious Scarlett, this story's heroine, is not a conventional southern lady, as she overcomes many trials and tribulations with what can only be described as true "grit".
Popcorn 🍿 and my book. Does not get much better than this 😊.
I'm just about halfway with this book and I'm really enjoying this one. I'm a huge fan of historical fiction, and considering this book was 1st published in 1936, the book gives great insight into that era.
I‘ve never actually seen all of the film, just snatches back pre DVD and video days, when my mother watched it on TV when it was shown annually...I have read the book and while Mitchell was an apologist for the South and racist, the story is worth reading, if the reader is willing to take that baggage on board. And it has an excellent doomed #lovetriangle.

I have today and tomorrow at work, then I have off until the 12th. This was supposed to be the time my husband and I planned to go to Aruba for his cousin‘s destination wedding, but Covid happened. 🦠 So now I‘m just going to staycation and hopefully finish this massive book. Current progress: 429/1024 pages. #tea
Apparently I‘m being told to take a reading break right meow. 😸 #catsoflitsy
