I LOVED this book so much. I enjoyed Brom‘s Slewfoot as well, but this one kept me on the edge of my seat while simultaneously making me laugh out loud. It will definitely be a yearly reread for the Yuletide season! The narration was AMAZING! #holidaybookdragons #wintergames2024

The is was so good. Tragedy, mythology, crime, humor, horror, fantasy, and love. What more do you want in a holiday story? “Then let us go and be terrible.”

This is my first year to read seasonal books around the holidays and I'm very much looking forward to these 😌 I also have one queued up in audible since my commute is gonna go from 10min to 40min in December. I may even get through more!

I loved starting out the year with this one! A dark holiday novel about the great Yule Lord, Krampus. I couldn‘t put it down! The characters were great, especially Krampus, of course. Jesse was an entertaining hero. I also enjoyed Brom‘s take on the Santa/Krampus lore and his weaving in of Norse mythology. And of course I loved the gore! 😜😈🤣 There were a few clunky exposition parts, but other than that, a great fast read.

My last read of 2022.

I loved this dark holiday tale. The writing had some issues here and there, but the story was action-packed, creative, and fun to read.

Krampus is hunting Santa Claus in order to kill him and Jesse, a down on his luck guy who just wants his wife and daughter back gets caught up in the wild chase.

I'm a fan of Brom's work and the Norse mythology in this one was captivating.

Great read to round out the year with.

@LocalTXLibrarian surprised me with this book. I came home to find a B&N package waiting and I was beyond excited when I opened it.

I'm going to end my year reading this one and I can't wait. 💚💚💚

This year's holiday festivities just didn't seem the same this year. Not only was my holiday reading impacted, but my crafting and baking all took a hit. I'm glad Christmas is over honestly. Anyway, despite it all, I managed to finish these three titles for #trappedonanisland

This is my second Brom book and I can now say I‘m a fan. I really like his new takes on folklore. This one takes place now in West Virginia and features a mix of Pagan and Norse mythology. It is horror but only has a couple very gruesome scenes. Though a touch long, it has some great character building, even if I was hoping for a slightly different ending. 4⭐️

Happy Monday. Did you have a good Thanksgiving weekend? Thanksgiving was great, but I ended up sick the rest of the weekend. So, I didn‘t get to Black Friday shop like I‘d hoped. But I did pick up Krampus. I‘m so excited for a spooky Christmas read.

It is clear that Brom is more than an exceptional visual artist. He is also a fine craftsman with words, sculpting details into rich, vivid imagery. His storytelling was mesmerizing, w/ unexpected complexities veering into world religion & Norse Mythology. His character development was thorough, as these were people I could care about & cheer for. There was plenty of action, emotional depth, and humor to keep me fully invested in this tale!

I loved this modern retelling of the Krampus myth! It has some really good conversations about the holiday season, how it‘s changed over time, religions impact, and what people want. I also really enjoyed the inventive back story between Krampus and Santa.

Krampusnacht was on Dec 4, but I wanted to throw this one in there today too with the other holiday books I recommend. Krampus is my favorite being of this time. This book tells his side of the story, in a way you may not expect. I loved it! I hope to see a Krampus parade in Germany one day!

At the start, I wasn‘t sure whether I would enjoy this. But once we met Krampus I really started to get into it! Such an interesting take on Yule traditions and the assimilation of these into the more Christian Christmas and Santa Claus. And blending some Norse mythology into it was a nice touch.

If I am being honest, based on this, I prefer Krampus to Santa!

Finished this today. This was a fun, bloody, non traditional holiday read. It was fun learning more about the Yule Lord, Krampus, his relationship to Santa and how the Christmas holiday usurped him.
