I hadn't written in years and this short class was the kick I needed to be motivated and inspired... and I haven't written a word since the final class 😒 hoping it's just the holiday chaos and I'll find my way back to the page again in 2022 🤞

pickI really liked this little writing guide. I enjoyed Bradbury's descriptions of his own methods, where his ideas for his stories came from, his hometown, etc. He has an engaging, energetic way of description that sucked me in immediately. I want to read more of his short stories now.
pickI think it‘s time to admit to myself that I‘m not going to complete all my reading challenges this year.😢 I‘m 2 books short and don‘t think I‘ll have the time to get through. I completed and surpassed my #mounttbr goal and Goodreads challenge. One shy for #readharder2018 and one for #LitsyAtoZ. I think next year I‘ll take a year off aside from Goodreads. Part of what got me behind was wanting to read outside of my challenge lists. #lennox

pickSpanning decades, this is a collection of Bradbury's odds and ends on the topics of creativity and writing. The writer's-life philosophies he preaches, they're not anything new, this having been published in the 90s, but I do feel, because of Bradbury's way with words, the lessons got a little deeper under my skin. His journey is inspiring, and I'm more determined than ever to pick up Farenheit 451 as well as a couple of his fiction anthologies.

pickBradbury‘s exuberance and eccentricity are displayed on the page for all to see. His writing is masterful and speaks to readers in a clear and welcoming way. His advice is solid and will be something I revisit again in the future.
I‘ve been trying to get back to writing, so maybe this will inspire me somehow.

I know I am committing a sacrilege by saying that this book was boring. The book is a collection of essays on the craft of writing Bradbury wrote over the years for various publications. Bradbury comes off self-aggrandizing and pretentious. The most interesting part of the book were his inspirations for his greater known work. Don't get me wrong, I like Bradbury but just not this book.

I mentioned that Mr. B and I got new tattoos on Tuesday - my fourth, his first. It was an emotional choice, even though they aren't very big. Mine's on my forearm. His is on his upper arm at his shoulder. They're in memory of our beautiful granddaughter who passed away two years ago. Thanks to those of you who asked about them! pickI read these two amazing books last week, because I had been feeling so stuck with my writing. They are so fantastic and helped me tremendously!
so-soThis was a mixed bag for me... on the one hand Bradbury is a powerful writer and I didn't really notice it back when I read Fahrenheit 451. On the other hand, this collection left me pretty unmoved... I assume it just didn't click with me because I am not a writer.
pickBradbury on writing and being a writer. I wish it wasn't so darn late. He's made me feel I can do it-that I HAVE to do it-and I want to sit down now and pound out my thousand words. A little typically heavy-handed Bradburyan, he still made me feel like he was talking to and caring about ME.
pickI love how passionately Bradbury writes about his love for writing. You can tell that for him writing was life. His passion is inspiring. I'm not a writer but this book sure makes me wish I was.
Made a little progress today for the #readathon Alternated between reading these two books. Zen in the Art of Writing-I love reading about how people work and Bradbury's writing process is interesting. What is not yours is not yours-a little over halfway with this one. Pretty pleased to get this book as a Kindle deal today. Read the 1st essay & then went to the desk for the first time in a while to write some (very rough!) fiction. Whew. Trying to channel Ray B's faith in the often uncertain process of just getting the words down & trusting what comes.
I find this to be very sage advice. Reading about Bradbury's writing techniques is very interesting.
