Not quite as fun or gripping as the first book! But very engaging, overall an enjoyable read.

19 books read in February. Top read (Paper and Fire was the only 5🌟read last month) & the best of the rest.
A lot of series suffer from a poor second book which fails to live up to the first one, but in this case I think Paper and Fire was even better than Ink and Bone. With more time to devote to plot rather than world-building, the pace is frenetic. The action moves from Alexandria to Rome and then to London, and the sinister automata play a larger role which was fascinating. I loved it! 5🌟
I haven‘t posted in 6 months! I hit a major reading rut last year and barely read any books past June. I can usually work my way out of a rut, but last year was so tough. This pandemic has affected us all in so many different ways, we may never understand its full impact. I‘m at least happy to share that I‘m slowly working my way to reading more regularly!
On the 2nd book of The Great Library series by Rachel Caine and enjoying it so far ☺️❤️📚
A great second installment to this series. Love the parallels is draws between various events in history. The plot is fast moving and loved the surprises along the way. However, I was not crazy about the way this one ended. 4⭐
Another book down for the #SeriesRead2021 challenge! ❤📖❤📚

1️⃣ The Well of Ascension, Before We Were Yours and Paper and Fire
2️⃣ LOTR
3️⃣ The Martian
The second book in the Library series was not disappointing at all! I loved the character development and storyline. This is a young adult book but it isn't void of adventure or intrigue. Follow the main characters as they battle their own core beliefs and values against those of their families and friends.
I really enjoyed reading these books.
The Great Library has proven to not be the shining beacon it claimed it was. Jess and his friends must come together to save themselves and the soul of the Library itself. No big deal.
Remember how I said the last book was a slow start? This one does NOT have that problem. We are almost immediately met with more action, more backstory, more depth to the instalove, and the cynical thief finding trust and support with his found family. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
In honor of Rachel Caine, who passed away this evening from cancer, I‘ve gotten a head start on my #BookSpinBingo board by starting the second book in her Great Library series.
May her memory be a blessing, and may her books continue to remind me why I love reading. ❤️
According to Goodreads I started this book in September. 🤭 I didn‘t realize I had gotten that distracted by life and other books. I‘m happy to finally finish it and start the next book. I‘m curious to see if Jess and Brendan reunite, and who‘s gonna betray who next.
I love this series (so far! 😁), I love this world, and I love these characters. 💛🧡❤
I've been listening to this during my commute for a couple days. When I turned on audible this morning it had started me over at chapter 1 and I didn't feel comfortable trying to figure out where I was while driving on the highway so I had to resort to music. 😭 Bummer of a way to start my day. Writing this out I totally realize this is a problem that isn't a problem but I was really looking forward to hearing more of it. I'm loving this series!
Here is today's order from Book Outlet. In my defense, two are for me the rest are for my grandkids. I'm hopeless! 😋
Brexit, brought to us by the people who actually did demolish my parents' local library, which was a community hub for elderly people, children and young parents. 🔥📚🔥
I finished this almost a month ago—figured I‘d really better get caught up on reviews since I‘m now on book 4! I think Ink & Bone is better, but I did thoroughly enjoy this. With Jess & Co. serving their assignments in the Library, I missed the apprentice librarian dynamics of the first book. But I liked seeing the characters in new settings, there was plenty of intrigue & action, and I HAD to get the next book upon finishing, so...still a pick.
Photo challenge for #BFCr2 I don't cook much, so boiled eggs on wholemeal toast is my go to healthy breakfast. Smashed avo on toast is another fave. No recipe needed!

Week 2 check in for #BFCr2 I'm pleased with the bookish side of things - hooray for the summer holidays! I'm not so pleased with the fitness side - I've done a couple of walks. It's been hot and I've been lazy 🙈 The top photo is the view from my teeny tiny balcony, and the bottom photo is Valdemossa - a gorgeous wee mountain town

A little late posting my July #TBR, but this is what I have on deck! 😳 Pictured are two book club reads, my #MakeMeReadIt picks, current reads, and current library checkouts. And I haven‘t even accounted for audiobooks yet... 🤦🏻♀️
I really enjoyed the second book in this series. We have the characters pretty much developed, so now it's time for deepening the story. It is a transitional book, so I would recommend reading them in order. I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series and experiencing more adventures with these characters.
Starting the second book in the series. Looking forward to seeing how things turn out for these characters. 😀
Not my normal kind of gere but here we go something daring to try. About library to winner anything to do with books 📚. #borrowbox lethal I loads of to be read but as can‘t add books want to read so don‘t forget. I made list in phone instead. Maybe here while 😂
Finished this one last night. It wasn‘t as good as the first in the series but still a solid pick. It kept me turning pages to find out what would happen next.

1. Silliness on the couch. James said, “Your dog totally stole the show in that picture.” Lol #dogsoflitsy
2. Second in The Great Library series. Very good!
3. Rest, read, car show, rest, maybe some light yard work, rest, read, clean a bit, rest, church, rest, read.
4. The inside of my reversible tote bag I carry with me to work every day.
5. It‘s a rare condition, this day and age...
My UK copy of Paper and Fire showed up, so here they are all together. 😍

Santi and Wolfe have this #CrazyLittleThingCalledLove going for each other. Although I expected this, I was still surprised. Both of them seem to be tough, have a hard shell and never show any feelings. They make a great couple and we see more of them in the other books of the Great Library series.
As I have to go with one character I'm choosing Wolfe. Of the two he seemed most unlikely to love someone.
Perfect day to read a book!
Currently enjoying Paper and Fire by Rachel Caine (book 2 of The Great Library series) and Ready Player One by Ernest Cline (read by Will Wheaton!) Enjoying a delicious Nobel Prize iced latte from The Diamond Perk

An excellent second installment in the Great Library series. Stakes are even higher as our group settle into their assignments while secretly planning a rescue.
The book ends with them backed in a corner, leaving us wondering how they'll make it through.
Late post! 😬 This is a good action-packed follow-up to book one. A bit slow in the beginning but the last 30% flew by fast. Did not anticipate that ending though! So good thing we're off to book 3 😄

I‘m finally getting into book 2 in The Great Library series! My reading time has been very sporadic so far this summer, and I‘m finding that these books require some focus, so it‘s been slow going. I‘m glad to be spending time in this world when I can!

This is such a fascinating series so far. The idea of a library that spans the entirety of the globe seems amazing but the book kind of turns the idea on its head. I really love to dislike the world Caine had created. Can't wait until I can book three.
Finishing this up as I type up blog posts and search for the book I want to read for #lmpbc. I think I have found the one that will be a good match 🤞🏻 It's been harder than I expected to find one that I would want to read and share with others.
Thumbs up!!! I just finished book 2 and it was incredibly fantastic! I'm going to start book 3 soon. Can't wait! Book review as soon as I complete this series!

I am really into this series. The characters are engaging and magnetic and the adventure never lets up. I liked this second book even more than the first. It really seemed to find its footing. I am committed to the series and I'm having difficulty not reading ahead.

We got this little nugget today. Please meet #Burley. He'll probably feature in my posts now like #Chloe and #Shadow 😊 Reading the tagged book while he sleeps 💙 #FrenchiesOfLitsy #DogsOfLitsy

Finished the second book in the Great Library series.
It was good, a bit dragging in parts and other parts were action packed.
I'm still not quite comfortable with some aspects of the world building/alternate reality, but I do understand that it is a tough thing to do for an author.
Now I'm looking forward to the next book, since this one ended in a cliffhanger.
#TheGreatLibraryChapterADay @GarthRanzz @MinDea
This was finally delivered today so now I have 3 days to catch up. Probably not going to happen but I'll see how far I can make it.
#TheGreatLibraryReadAlong @GarthRanzz
Road-trip reading gave me time to finish this early. So many plot twists in this one! I'm excited to start book 3!
#TheGreatLibraryChapterADay
Once again I‘ve finished early because apparently I can‘t not read the last four chapters all at once. I‘ll add my real review once the #TheGreatLibraryChapterADay ends in a couple days. I‘ll just say I loved it and am looking forward to the next. 🖤 #65of2018
I just had to make a bookmark of this #TheGreatLibraryChapterADay #ReadAlong. I laminated it 😅 I'm only at Chapter 4 now, still trying to catch up. The story started slow but things are picking up now and getting intense!
@GarthRanzz @MinDea
How can I not read ahead after Chapter 10? Btw, there was a small mistake in the chapter. Did anyone else notice it?
#TheGreatLibraryChapterADay
@MinDea @GarthRanzz
I must admit I'm far more interested in exploring the world the author has built than in the adventures and poltical shenanigans the characters get up to
This is such a good series, this does have a bit of a slow start though. Just hit chapter 10, about 8 hours left and today is creeping a long so I might make a dent in it.
Finished book 2 ahead of #theGreatLibraryChapteraDay - a little bit of the second book drag in the first half (or maybe that's just me reading it during a stressful week) but it was a solid continuation to the series and definitely leaves me wanting to read book 3. Hard to say much more without spoilers, but I'm looking forward to their next plan. Hopefully book 3 will have more Wolfe and Santi too ❤
This is what worries me. Is the author subtly showing how the timeline had already changed that far back or is it ignorance?
I‘m really enjoying this already at only five chapters in! Once again it‘s very hard to not keep reading ahead! @MinDea @GarthRanzz #TheGreatLibraryChapteraDay
