My 1st book completed for the #WinterReadathon and December #BookSpinBingo!

Polly is back in this sequel to Little Beach Street Bakery, and again she's picking up the pieces when things start to go wrong. But with Huckle the beekeeper, Neil the puffin, their new home in the lighthouse, and her friends on Mount Polbearne, she'll figure out how to make it all work.

It‘s been 6 months of books ago that I read the first book in this series but it didn‘t take long for me to feel as though I never left Mount Polbearne. Sitting a spell with Polly Waterford is like reading sunshine.

Cyndij82 Loved that series. Enjoy!! 3y
marleed @Cyndij82 She makes me want to travel around the outskirts of England before landing in Scotland for a stay. I read books set in England often, but discovering Jenny Colgan books, I now map my way through it, as well! 3y

#JumpStart2021 #BeachRead Though it hasn‘t been much of a summer here so far(it‘s rained for the last 10 days straight⛈)I‘m going with the spirit of this prompt & picked a summery book. Maybe the weather gods will cut us some slack & give us some beach weather soon. Even my garden is begging for some sun & less water, usually by now it‘s drought conditions & 40C weather🌞🥵On the plus side, I‘m not having to hibernate under the ducted air!

Clwojick I have a few of these books, but I haven‘t read them yet! Hopefully it‘s good! 🖤 4y
Jeg We are getting the weather you describe here in the West . Way too much and way too early in the season! 4y
Lizpixie @Clwojick I‘m not much of a “chick lit” reader myself but I enjoyed every Colgan book I‘ve read. I also follow her on IG, she lives in a small scottish castle & posts the best pictures! 4y
Lizpixie @Jeg I can‘t remember the last time it rained so much at Xmas/January. And I‘m 50 this year! My poor veggie garden is drenched & my pumpkin has a fungus from the humidity☹️🎃 4y

Marathon listening session while mowing the lawn, canning tomatoes, and cooking meant I finished this in record time. I loved picking up on the lives of Polly and her friends in the second book in this series. Now to wait six months for the next one from the library! And Neil is my favorite puffin ever!

So good! Sweet, substantial and a little tart too-the perfect recipe for a story centered around a baker and her bakery. A lovely sequel to the first book in the series. And a little over 3 hours in #24B4Monday ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ @TheReadingMermaid @Andrew65 @jb72

A delightful cozy romance, Summer at Little Beach Street Cafe is a continuation from the first novel. If you haven‘t ready Little Beach Street Cafe, there is a nice little recap in the begging of this book which will bring you up to speed. Full of Jenny Colgan‘s trademark humor and an abundance of deliciously written artisan breads, the cast of quirky characters share their misadventures in the quintessential seaside town of Mount Polbearne.

Another delightful read from Jenny Colgan. Jenny's writing always makes you feel like you are a part of the story and that the characters are your friends. This is another engaging and heartwarming look into Polly's life. Jenny's books leave you smiling and feeling good. I have never read a Jenny Colgan book that I haven't loved! #jennycolgan #summeratlittlebeachstreetbakery #litsy #tea_sipping_bookworm #bookstagram

I streaked through this one tonight! Well, morning really, it is 4.30am here. Still not sleepy so I‘m planning on starting the third book in the series, Christmas At Little Beach Street Bakery. I really need to get my hands on her other books..Oi! Whoever has me as their #cupidgoespostal match, Colgans Sweetshop series are top of my romance themed list! Please & Thankyou!😘😘😘 Ahh sleep deprivation. Isn‘t it fun?

Verity I love Jenny Colgan. The kids‘ book that goes with this is lots of fun for little ones too. I think my favourite series of hers is Rosie Hopkins. 7y
Lizpixie @Verity that‘s the series I‘m after next!🍭🍬🍫 I used to own a lollyshop years ago. Best thing I ever did, made my own toffee apples, fudges, coconut ice, choc-coated licorice straps, rum balls & my own version of Ferraro Rochers. Yum. Plus I had big glass jars of every lolly you can think of. Gummy bears, milk bottles, snakes, freckles, cobbers, jelly babies, chalks, sweethearts, jellybeans, musk sticks & so much more. I miss it so much! 7y
Dragon @Lizpixie your sweet shop sound lovely! Now I‘m craving gummy bears and jelly babies! 🌈 7y

#BookMail No1 Of 2018 is this little gem of a book. I thoroughly enjoyed The Bookshop On The Corner by the same author so I‘m giving this series a go. They may not be literary prize winners, but they‘re a fun palate cleanser between heavier books. That reminds me, I need to buy a new copy of The Bookshop On The Corner, I gifted my copy to an Aussie Litten who wanted to read it🤔 #NewYearNewBooks #SoManyBooksSoLittleFunds

Finished my last book of the year & the last book in the Little Beach Street Bakery series (really its the 2nd book but I read the last book 1st). This time Polly loses her job at the Bakery & tries to find a way to keep baking & Huckle tries to help but not in the best way. Add in the town still struggling with the aftermath of the storm, Reuben losing his money, & Neil returning to the puffin colony & you have an enjoyable read to end the year

SilversReviews Love the title!! 7y
tpixie Lol bookclub had me read the last one at Christmas time and now a second book club is having me read the second one this summer so now I guess it‘s time for me to read the first one in the trilogy! LOL I‘ve never read a trilogy backwards before. 6y

If it's your book, feel free to dog-ear, highlight, annotate, etc., but dog-earing a LIBRARY book is a cardinal sin. It's not YOURS, treat it with respect. I'm on page 161 of this book and it has had at least ten dog-ears so far. I'm going a little nuts over it.

Day 7 #marchintoreading #lighthouses Before she had me wanting a book van in Scotland, Jenny Colgan had me wanting to live in an old lighthouse on a Cornish island, running a bakery w/a baby puffin as an accidental pet. There's more lighthouse in the sequel to Little Beach Street Bakery & more visible lighthouse on its U.K. cover than the U.S. one but here's some googled pics that capture how the lighthouse setting & Neil (puffin) look in my head.

I think there is a fine art to writing a sequel that can stand on its own with a bit of historical retell background info and still tell its own story without too much repetition. This book seemed to retell earlier chapters of itself somehow ugh. I like the characters, the setting and the dialogue. Needs a good editor

Welcome to Mount Polbearne, a small island community. There is an abundance of salty sea spray, delicious sweet and savory baked treats, and a wide variety of town folk to keep things interesting and lively. This is a place to laugh, cry, work hard, play hard and plant firm roots. As an added treat, you will meet Neil, a rescued an unintentionally domesticated, chubby puffin. An enjoyable and satisfying read.
