I really enjoyed this. Quick read. Aside from Nick and Rachel, I was also interested in Astrid‘s story. I‘ve put book 2 on hold at the library. Hope it comes in soon!

Does this count for orange in the book cover scavenger hunt?

Thanks @TheSpineView for the #Two4Tuesday tag.
1️⃣ 2-3 (PJs to work from home wear & back to PJs unless I am going somewhere & need “real pants.”) 😉
2️⃣ Although I officially thought of Astrid (& probably more from the movie than the book), there are many characters in Crazy Rich Asians who are fashionistas. 👗👠👛
Anyone want to play that hasn‘t yet? 🤗
This is the pick for my book club this month. I‘m enjoying it but the meeting is on Thursday and I‘m on page 65. I just don‘t think I‘ll get it done in time. I‘m seriously considering a book club hiatus. The school year is off to a great start but I have an extra prep this year and my time is too precious for reading that feels required.
It wasn't his style to go after girls in such an obvious way.All his life, he had never needed to chase after women. They had always given themselves freely to him, starting with his older brother's girlfriend when he was fourteen. Technically,Astrid had made the first move, so he didn't mind going after her. Andy's talk about her being 'out of his league' really irked him, & he thought it would be fun to bed her, just to shove it in Andy's face.
Today was my first day off of the year. Working all the time gets tiring but I enjoyed finishing this book.
It is so different from the movie, richer in the details and characters but I loved it as much as I love the movie.
Book 37/100 of the year.
Gandalf wasn't trying to cuddle while I read this morning. He just wanted food.

February hopeful reads. There will be several other books plus some audiobooks. I am hoping to read all these but with my work at the library, my part time job, school and adding in exercising, time will tell me at the end of February if I am successful.
I both appreciate getting a peek into this world I‘d been completely oblivious to, and had a blast just getting to know these characters. I‘m dying to know what happens next, so I‘ll definitely be continuing the series. Thanks for sending this my way @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks 💙💚💗 #Pantone2023 #BeetrootPurple @Clwojick #Bookspin @TheAromaofBooks #LitsyLoveBookBuddy @StayCurious
“I hate to point out the obvious, but here‘s this tiny bird that‘s been trying to get through a huge bulletproof glass wall. A totally impossible situation. You tell me it‘s been here every day pecking away persistently for ten minutes. Well, today the glass wall came down.”

I have a feeling the movie might redeem my opinion, but this is just another big seller that I don‘t understand why. It‘s not special, but I do understand the importance Asian representation in books and media. That‘s the only redeemable thing for me. 🤷🏻♀️
Still working on this #audiobook. It‘s a slow one for me. Not really connecting with the characters, the amounts of money are staggering, and too much back story on minor characters. I did watch the movie a couple nights ago, so I‘d be inspired to continue. Got book club discussion on Saturday… Still close to five hours of listening.
Misty, when you posted the other day about mailing something to me it had completely slipped my mind that I won this book, so I figured you meant a letter, and finding a package from you today was just the best surprise!! And one filled with valentines goodies to boot!! Thank you so much for these gifts and for the unflagging generosity and time you send to all of us in #LitsyLove ❤️

Characters were a bit flat, but I still found my favorite of them: Astrid and it was a shame how she wasn't the main character.
Atmosphere weren't the most likable but it was really well created. I hated materialism but at the same time it was intriguing to read about - guilty pleasure, maybe?
I also liked this as a romance: this wasn't at all too sugary and had several characters to read about. This was really entertaining and fun book to read.

This was a fun, quick read, especially if you‘re a fan of family drama. And I‘m glad I listened to the audiobook so I know how all of the names are pronounced.
I always glanced over this one, but finally got a copy after all the rave reviews about it. It's my current audiobook and I'm so glad to be listening. So much fun so far!
If you like romance/heterodrama, rumor mills, and ogling at celebrity wealth, you‘d like this book. My major criticism is I wish the characters‘ personalities were described with the same richness (ha!) as the food and clothes. I had a hard time believing their actions beyond “the plot says so.” This book is totally opposite of what I like to read, but not poorly written. For me it‘s a pan, but I‘d be curious to hear from folks who liked it :)
Finished building my Mother's Day orchid while listening to Crazy Rich Asians 🌸🌸🌸
All told, if you‘re looking for a book to take to the beach, Crazy Rich Asians is a very safe bet. Be prepared to weep the next time you check your own bank balance, though! Full review: https://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/crazy-rich-asians-kevin-kwan/
funny and really grasp the asians‘ culture however the movie did michael teo dirty than the book 🙃 the story actually does not focus on eleanor as compared to the movie.
My #bookspin was over-the-top 😳 I think I‘m supposed to find all this conspicuous consumption funny or maybe even enticing. I‘m just kind of… horrified. Also, I would have left Nick Young in a hot minute for blindsiding me like he did Rachel. And he‘d be lucky if I didn‘t stomp his nuts on the way out. DUDE 😡 ⭐️⭐️1/2
I wasn‘t expecting to love it as much as I have. It was a quick pick up that is now a silent craze. If you love good ☕️ and reality shows, this is definitely the book for you.
Now I just need to get the next book. ❤️
I wouldn‘t have thought this was be as hilarious as it is. But omg, if this isn‘t my family. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can‘t believe I‘m going to say this but the movie was better. It was slow and dragged in some places. And I don‘t care about the designers and what they were wearing.
I had no idea this one was as long as it is! I did have a little trouble keeping track of all the characters, but it was entertaining, and the ending was pretty compelling!
Now, do I see if the movie is streaming or just go straight on to book 2? 🤔

We are obsessed with rich people. Like, in general. As the 1% gets richer, the fascination grows. We‘re reading this, watching succession, buying their mags. And they all seem horrible. I mean, you have to be a little horrible if you‘re that rich.
At least in this story, some of them are nice, polite, and generally likeable - altho I still wouldn‘t call them good 🤷🏽♀️
I liked reading this, lots of family drama, and lots of food descriptions.
This was a soft pick .Light, fast, and mildly entertaining. I watched the movie right after finishing the book and definitely preferred the book. I really liked all the actors but something about the style was just off for me. 🤷🏼♀️
