My love of horror reading began with the Fear Street books by R.L. Stine. I still remember the exact area of the Shopko where they were displayed - right next to The Babysitters Club books. 😂😂 I‘m sure they are all so cheesy now, but the cover art is still on point! #scarathlonphotochallenge #fear #blackcatcrew
Here‘s my #bookspinbingo / #scarathlon October TBR list ready to go!! So excited for the month to start! I had to cross some stuff out to update the list for newer finds (I got a little excited and started making the list weeks ago 😆) but hopefully it‘s readable.
Late to post but we finished Fear Street & started The Watcher! I absolutely LOVED the Fear Street trilogy. The Watcher on the other hand? After every episode, I muse aloud, “I‘m not sure if I like this.” I have a feeling I‘m going to get to the end of the season & *still* be saying the same thing. 😅
+10 (Fear Street, based on a book) +15 (5x3, The Watcher) +1 participation point = +26 added to #Scarathlon2022 total. #TeamMonsterMash
The last movie isn‘t my favorite. It feels super VVitch to me, and that movie greatly bores me. I hope they end up making more, or at least more in this universe considering that after-credits scene.
#scarathlon #scarathlon22 #scarathlon2022 #teammonstermash
Honestly the second Fear Street movie is my favorite, when for all accounts it shouldn‘t be as a camp counselor. But I just love a good ole camp slasher!

I watched the next Fear Street movie (1978) and it scared me so much!!!! Much scarier than the first one, but still very fun. I had to watch something funny afterward to be able to sleep tonight.
#scarathlon2021 #teamhendrix @StayCurious
Although I watched this when it first came out, nothing like a revisit for #Scarathlon2021 #TeamHendrix +6 pts
Holy crow these movies were good!! I‘ll admit I‘ve never actually read Goosebumps or Fear Street (RL Stine wasn‘t allowed in my house as a kid) but these movies are NOT kid friendly! Super gorey, lots of swearing, but very very fun! I had a great time watching them, even though I partially called the ending in the first movie. Excited to see if they‘ll make more!

Being that in middle school I made regular trips to the thrift shop near my apt to look for VC Andrews and Fear St books, there's a good chance the remains of my collection are just one big #ThriftStoreFind ! I put these out specifically for Halloween, because spooky nostalgia 🎃

Has anyone else watched the #FearStreet trilogy on Netflix? What did you think?
I‘ll preface this by saying I‘ve not read R.L.Stine‘s Fear Street books that the trilogy (set in 1994, 1978, and 1666) is based on.
Regardless of its source material, it‘s exactly what you‘d expect from a Netflix event like this and despite reviews that make comparisons to the books (pointless to do) it‘s fun if you just roll with it. Beware terrible Irish accents 😉
I was excited to start this movie trilogy since I was a huge fan of the Fear Street books when I was younger. But after the first film, I don't think I'm going to continue it. I am NOT into slasher films.

I just finished the movie series on Netflix last night. I know I read some of the goosebumps books but I'm not sure if I read any of the fear street books. The movies were good but definitely not for children. I may have to check out some of the books and see how they stand up.
Would the books be too advanced/mature for my 11 year old niece?
Finally starting this trilogy now that they‘ve all been released. Can I just say A+ for the “working at a mall in the 90s” vibe.

Somebody stop me… new additions to my (I guess) new collection😂🖤 #FearStreet #RLStine
YES!!! Growing up in the 90s, I was such a Fear Street kid! I was obsessed with these books and they were a stepping stone into slashers for me. This movie completely got that and felt like it was made just for me 😅
🔪🔪🔪❤
I had a lot of fun with this first Fear Street movie last night. Much more gorey than the actual books though! Then I had even more fun going down a Fear Street / Point Horror rabbit hole on the internet, looking at the covers and reading the synopses.
Am I the only one hyped up for this?
I want to wait until they‘re all out to actually watch them but GOSH I HOPE THEY‘RE GOOD!
Thank you for the tag @Buechersuechtling !!

👾 two brothers, 5 years and 3 years older than me.
🫀 the first books I actually remember getting into were the Fear Street books and RL in general but I know I read before that too.
Thank you for making this!! @Eggs
As far as I'm concerned, all the Fear Street books go together so I'm doubling up on my favorites from the set.
These will ALWAYS be right up there in my #Top20Series

We need to discuss how I‘m only now discovering the kindred spirits of the Teen Creeps podcast, who did an entire episode of one of my favorite middle school series: Fear Street Saga. I loved the episode so much that I re-purchased them as a guilty pleasure. #teencreeps #rlstine #fearstreet #fearstreetsaga
❤️ In my youth it was without a doubt the Fear Street books. I am sure I read and owned at least 40. More recently I would say Stephanie Plum at about 19 books as well as Women‘s Murder Club currently at 16.
🧡 I am not sure I have completely given up on Stephanie Plum but I haven‘t read the last 4 books.
💛 I don‘t purchase any books - strictly a library girl
💚 Nope

💜 Thanks for the fun @CSeydel
Happy almost birthday, @Clwojick ...who is being kind enough to do this fun giveaway!
Because clearly I need more Fear Street books 😂

Congrats on the 50k litfluence, @Clwojick and an early happy birthday! Awesome #giveaway :) I haven't read any Fear Street since like preteen age and these vintage covers are calling me to a re-read!
What a handsome kitty! 🐈🐈 #catsoflitsy (I don't have a kitty, just two doggos 🐕🐕)

I had dinner at my dad's house last night, also the house I grew up in. I can't believe he didn't toss my childhood books, but I rescued a bunch lol. @callielafleur and listening to the Teen Creeps podcast have inspired me to maybe reread them. But really, why did I like The Babysitters Club so much?!?
Also, that Manassas Mall mug is now the most 80s thing I own.

Found my old R. L. Stine books (and other YA horror novels)…just in time for October! 💀👻🔪🎃
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahadies
This book is amazing... I mean, it's no Modelland, but I LOVE it!
Oh my god! If you haven't read The Fear Street Saga, you MUST!
Full disclosure: I was never allowed to read the Fear Street books when I was young. My mom thought they were too sexy/scary for a kids... but I ALWAYS wanted to and always tried to sneak them (also ALWAYS got caught). But I'm glad I'm reading these now as an adult, because I can truly appreciate their campy glory to its fullest!
In addition to Fog/Snow/Fire trilogy that I mentioned was my "first" horror book, The Fear Street Saga was my favorite scary read as a child. Don't know how it would hold up today, though. #AllHallowsRead
@Yossarian do our neighbors know they're having a seasonal inflatables measuring contest on our Litsy accounts? 😂
