Clearly this isn‘t I HATE FAIRYLAND, but TWIG isn‘t in the database. This is Splat. He‘s Twig‘s companion and I love him. The art here is fantastic, the story is sucking me in, and I can‘t wait to read more. I broke my book buying ban for the digital copy and I‘M NOT SORRY! Seriously, this is fun: good story, great art, wonderful vivid colors, and easy to follow panels and speech bubbles. Reading it made my day. 🤩

Day 1 : I Hate Fairyland (completed)

Cute, six-year old Gert finds a portal to Fairyland and can't get out. Thirty years later she's still cute, but super violent and totally over this Fairyland nonsense. This 20 comic series is colorful, violent, and funny.

1. Tagged comic is definitely a go-to read. Comics in general are a favorite. Also anything by Neil Gaiman, Pierce Brown‘s Red Rising books, Rainbow Rowell‘s books...

2. For movies, I like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter—immersive worlds to disappear into—also anything Pixar

3. Favorite podcast is definitely Our Opinions are Correct

I didn‘t hate it, I just didn‘t really like it either. I can see how people would have a lot of fun with this series, I just think it isn‘t my sense of humor. I mean I don‘t really find it ugly but the artwork is supposed to look raw and grotesque (even though they are artistically beautiful) ... Anyway I think this counts :)

This totally describes my weekend :)

Picked this up the other day at the comic shop. It looks like it‘s right up my alley :)

This was not what I expected when I finished the first volume.
But this is what I got… A whole lot of exactly what happened in the previous volume.
Gert‘s still the manic she was, she‘s still trying to go home and she is still failing.
Not sure if I want to continue with the rest.

This was bloody and brutal and so many things I can't even think how to say. But it made me smile and that was all I was looking for.
The story felt a bit rushed at points and the characters are just plain crazy. THE ART is wat made me get the second volume. Well that and the ending; can't wait to see how Gert will destroy Fairyland next...

Ahhh I can't get enough of this series! This time around murdering Gertrude wants to be nice and good. However, all her good intentions are not turning out so well. She has one last chance to do good and return home. But will she? Oh I was soooo excited to see the return of Duncan the Dragon!!! Awesome story and will be continuing on to the next one! 4 stars

Fun. Slightly disturbing. I haven‘t read a lot of #graphicnovels , but I may have to broaden my horizons after reading this. I really enjoyed the artwork and the story that went along with it. Can‘t wait to get my hands on the other volumes. #booked2019

Finished vol 2 yesterday

Well finished this on a mixed bag sorta day.
But, in the spirit of Gert, at least I got to be a Mother Puffin Disney-esque princess today!!!!

Taking my first stroll through Fairyland before work.
I'm exhausted, so something this loud & colourful should keep me awake, no?

I adore the first and second volumes, and enjoy the third and fourth volumes

Fun, gore-filled, murderous, colourful times.

Ugh!! This was definitely not for me. I liked the artwork, but the story and characters were a total turn off. 3 💥💥💥 out of 5 for the art, 1 💥 for the story.

⭐️⭐️ This feels like a severely whacked out Alice in Wonderland. I can‘t say I‘m a fan of this story, but I appreciate the artwork. The colors are vibrant and beautiful. The characters are equal parts cute and horrifying, but the gratuitous gore was too much for me. I don‘t feel compelled to continue this series.

This one is from Jean‘s Bookish Thoughts on Book Tube- I needed a laugh and my library had this one so time to get my inner mad geek on!!!🤪👊🗡

I love Gert. Her fairyland adventures are fun and sassy and snarky. I absolutely adore the artwork in these graphic novels Scottie Young and Jean-Francois Beaulieu are a fantastic duo. I need more Gert!
