I beat my PR for the 2nd year in a row! This fall, my reading slowed way down for a few months, but I guess I was already up from last year at that point, so I still came out ahead. It was a year of some powerful books mixed with some light-hearted, escapist reads. It's a reminder that there's a book for every season in life ❤️📚.

This was an interesting reading year. Some times I couldn't get any reading done and others I couldn't stand to be in the real world.
But overall I'm very happy with what I accomplished.

Original goal was 50 books, so I read more than double that!😁

Enchanted_Bibliophile @BookDragon25 🤣 I try to only use magic for the less important things 😜 but do try the app it's relatively new so there's upgrades almost monthly and it's really growing into something good. I got the paid version (not even expensive and once off) and there's no regrets 3y

Make a list of 20 books and @TheAromaofBooks picks 2 numbers each month and you read those books for #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin and your name goes in for end of year drawing. She then picks 20 numbers for a Bingo game and you read those books and try to get a bingo. It is a fun game and you read more books than you would if you didn‘t play. (edited) 3y

My GR target was 95, so I am pleased with this result. I also have 10 ‘unfinished‘ on the reading pile and there were four books that I abandoned. In the Reading Women 2019 Challenge I managed 21/26.

I am currently over 50% through 2 more books but since I have company tonight I am calling it. I would say I had a pretty decent year. I read a lot more GN that I have in the past as well as more of the books I actually own. It was a great year for rereads although some were better than others. I am looking forward to what books 2020 brings me.

So this be my year in books. I rate 2 books as 5 🌟, 2 as 4 🌟, 12 as 3 🌟, 5 as 2 🌟, and 2 as 1 🌟. That's pretty common for me given that j really have to enjoy a book for it to be a 3/5.

I was hoping to finish The Chronicles of Narnia before th year was out but did not accomplish that. Here are my stats for 2017. I aim for 1 book a week and was able to accomplish that this year with starting a new job, buying a house and moving!

A Little Life was a really hard one for me because it was so well written but it was emotionally really tough and honestly it really upset me so I don‘t know if I‘ll ever read it again. It was such a powerful book though so I would recommend it ! Have you read it ? 😊 6y

alvingregorio Yes, I've read it. I love hearing how others have responded to this book and how it affected them. It was so punishing and sad for me. I always hoped that things would get better but never did. It's hard for me to recommend without a warning of being traumatized. Maybe if it was shorter, I'd be more likely to read it again and recommend it to others. 6y

It does feel like it needs to come with a warning because I really think it would be impossible for some people to read without being too traumatised! Like you - I just kept thinking there might be a happy ending and I was so upset ! It‘s a really tough one ! 6y

scripturient @CatLass007 You need to go to the Desktop site as it doesn‘t work on the mobile one and neither on the app. When you then go to the Home screen and scroll way down, there should be a widget on the left saying ‚Goodreads Blog - your 2017‘ or something like it. :) 6y

With a couple weeks left, I will probably read more books, but 200 was a nice round figure, plus the link to this feature is now gone from the top of my #goodreads page and I had to search for it. Oh my #firstworldproblem #readingstats #myyearinbooks #2017reading All I can see is that I am pretty generous with my ratings. Or maybe, I mostly read 'good' books... either way works for me.

tomes4gnomes I find that my ratings skew high because I usually DNF books I‘m not enjoying and don‘t bother to rate them. 6y

Missusb Yeah, and GR doesn't seem to let you mark something as DNF, WITHOUT having to mark it as 'read'. Weird. There were 8 unrated books from me, and mostly they were ones I didn't finish. @tomes4gnomes 6y

tomes4gnomes @Missusb @Melissa_J I just change the status back to “want to read” and add them to my DNF shelf. They don‘t show up in the ratings or end of year totals. Whatever works! But I do wish GR had a clear option for this scenario. 6y

emtobiasz @tomes4gnomes @Melissa_J @Missusb You can create another shelf for DNF and go into the shelf settings to make it another mutually exclusive choice (like Read, Want To Read, and Currently Reading). I think you have to do it from desktop, though-- I can't find the option to adjust shelf settings on the app. I think if you add read dates it automatically moves books to "Read", though. #goodreadshacks 6y

RadicalReader @Redjewel_7734 I have abandoned all other social media Facebook has been dead and buried at least to me when they implemented the using of a separate messaging app to communicate with your friends instead of it being inside the app they was the straw that broke the camels back for me. Realized I also didn't need any other social media. Used most because one other was using it 7y

Redjewel_7734 @RadicalReader for me it was just the fakeness, negativity and constant trolling that drove me away from other social media. It just became such a time-suck that I didn't really enjoy and to often regretted time spent there that it's not worth it. I decided my social needs meant a space I enjoy & that is here. I can keep up with news & other things & people in other ways & spaces. Just glad to have found such a great space here 😊 7y

Since the rest of today will be filled with NYE festivities with friends, I will call my reading year done! I didn't meet my goal of 60 books, but I have no doubt that I will surpass that next year with Litsy's influence! FTR, I rarely give 5 stars on Goodreads ; therefore, I'd say that an average rating of 3.6 means that I read some pretty good books this year! #bringon2017
