The “real river” is the Trent and it is quite imposing looking. “Floss” sounds so sweet and gentle. But the Trent is known for its dramatic flooding that can even change the course of the river.

dabbe I am not liking Tom at all. So high and mighty and always wanting to exact justice! Maggie adores him yet he abuses her. All of them do, except the father seems to favor her a bit. Childhood can be so brutal. And the animal abuse? Horrific. 🤬 1mo

dabbe I worry about Maggie. She ignores the rabbits and lets them starve to death and takes out her aggressions by stabbing a doll voodoo-style while in the attic. Leftcoastzen Why doesn‘t mom just say stay away from the river ! If my mom said stay away from the river , she would have told me why , and I would have stayed away from the river ! 😁 1mo

Leftcoastzen I was miffed everyone let Tom down as well , it was a simple ask , Maggie is young but should have been able to look after a couple of rabbits. The parents don‘t look after her , I know people had plenty of work in those days. 1mo
