Off to a good start!
I‘ve been anticipating this so hard 🎃
Rainbow Rowell is one of my favorite authors, and Pumpkinheads did not disappoint! It was utterly adorable and so atmospheric— I want this amazing pumpkin patch to be real so I can visit and eat all the things! 😂 if you‘re looking for a cute, quick, October-y read, definitely check it out!
I know this has gotten great reviews. It was a good read, but why does every new book for teena and ya have to have LGBT? That is not all there is to life, and I hate having to read about it in what is supposed to be a fun read. Rant over.
It was good to see the main characters realize their true feelings even though it took 3 years.
Aww, this graphic novel is super cute and fun! The setting is lovely and characters feel real and familiar. Gives you a ‘feel-good‘ vibe. A great break from my ‘horror‘ reads. I‘ve never experienced the seasonal attraction of a pumpkin patch, so I looked it up, some are like country fairs..sounds like a blast!
Two teenage employees at a pumpkin theme park spend their last shift together before leaving for college. Hicks‘ art is just the right blend of cartoon & realism. I enjoyed the characterization of their friendship, the humour, and the pacing: run, then pause for food like Freeto pie (a headscratcher of a snack) then run again. Plus: bisexuality treated matter-of-factly. Perfect for fans of seasonal reading and #YA romance. #LGBTQ #graphicnovel
Pumpkinheads written by Rainbow Rowell and illustrated by Faith Erin Hicks is a cute graphic novel set on Halloween in a pumpkin patch. It tells the story of two teenagers who work together at a pumpkin patch and the adventure they go on their last night working there. Definitely a fun, Halloween read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the perfect book for #pumpkinspiceeverything season. It is best read while wearing a cozy flannel and puffy vest. My only criticism is there was no Cider Donut Station (Maybe in a sequel? 🤞) As a librarian, I love how I can recommend this book to both adults and younger readers.
What a perfect fall book! The collaboration between Rowell (whose work I was already really familiar with) and Hicks (who was new to me) was really successful! The story was cute and relatable about 2 work friends on their last night of work at the pumpkin patch. They are high school seniors so next fall they‘ll be in college. I just loved the characters, and the illustrations and paneling were fantastic. Such a fun, fast fall read! 🎃
Since I accidentally left my TBR pile at home, I went out and bought a couple books I‘ve been meaning to get. My new copy of Laini Taylor‘s Daughter of Smoke and Bone isn‘t exactly like the one that was stolen from me, so it‘s making me sad. HOWEVER, I am looking forward to the tagged graphic novel!

Also, my nine year old is currently reading the tagged book. I love that it works for a variety of ages. 🧡🎃
This might be the sweetest book I‘ve ever read. So charming, with lovely illustrations on autumn. My son loved it too. We just didn‘t want it to end. 🎃 🍂 😍

“Friends don‘t let friends live small lives.”
This sentiment perfectly describes this short and sweet beauty of a graphic novel. Friends emboldening one another thru their friendship. Loved the perfect fall feel, the illustrations, and a cute storyline. I almost never read graphic novels so it‘s a good challenge for me to slow down reading the words and pay more attention to the nuances of the pictures.
What a great Halloween story 🎃 ! I have mixed feelings about Rainbow Rowell, but after seeing such an outpouring of love for this on Litsy decided this was one I needed to read, and I‘m glad I did. This one gave me all the feels! #scarathlon #teamstoker @TheReadingMermaid
A pumpkin themed drink and a pumpkin themed book.
I‘ve been in a huuuge reading slump (like, 7 months) mainly because I‘ve been binging shows left and right. But it led me to two of my ultimate favorite shows now, Gilmore Girls and Brooklyn Nine Nine (it‘s safe to say I‘m in love with Andy Samberg).
So hopefully I‘ll get over my slump a little with this graphic novel!
What are you guys watching these days?
Well, I have been saving this one since August to read now during this #Harvest season, as it‘s definitely a #BookSetDuringAurumn! It‘s my second graphic novel and definitely more fun than my first! Sweet, pumpkin-filled pictures and adorable characters and fun dialogue! Plus, it‘s got a pumpkin on the cover- and it takes place on Halloween! 6pts for #TeamStoker #ScaryScavengerHunt #Spooktober #FallIsBooked
