This was very interesting… I liked the atmosphere. Appropriately creepy as an October (well, technically November) read.

I've been away for a while, well life and all, but I'm taking today to crochet with my daughter and listen to one of my favorites again. I'm ready for Fall and all that comes with it!
Like a YA House of Leaves, the way it plays with typography, how the house physically changes, and the pervasive creepy atmosphere.
In other aspects, comparisons can be made: Strong beginning, slow and repetitive middle, and suitable conclusion.
I appreciate that Kurtagich took a chance, playing with POVs and storytelling devices. It‘s a weird book, and like House of Leaves, I imagine it will be divisive. Unlike HOL it‘s just kinda meh.
My oldest daughter just turned 12 today! Decided to up the creepiness factor a notch from our last book. Hoping this will do the trick.
I loved this book. It's a creepy, haunting, Gothic novel. Silla & her sister go to live with their Aunt in La Baume an old mansion in the woods that has a curse on it 👻

This #audiobook is fantastic. The narrator does a great job. And the production itself is pretty epic. There's music and creepy background noises and whispering in the background. But it's a ghost story of sorts so it might give you nightmares. So you've been warned.

Both my #LMPBC books for June arrived today! And never fear @Lauranahe and @EadieB , I mailed your next books off to you both today as well.
So I‘m still struggling with my thoughts on this one. On one hand I REALLY loved the story itself and appreciated how dark the author was willing to get. However it really did drag for so much of this even with the unique writing style (which I adored). I just didn‘t really care for how repetitive and slow going it was in the middle. I feel like if this was shorter I‘d have loved it more. Maybe one day I‘ll read again to see if my opinion changes.
Taking a break from the other book to dive into an #LMPBC - I have 3 of them to read and haven‘t dug into any of them yet and I fear if I wait until I‘m done with the other I won‘t have time 😬
Hm. I‘m not sure how I feel about this. Silla and her sister Nori go to their Aunt Cathy‘s house. But things become sinister as they fear the Creeper Man, and the trees are getting closer to the house. The ending didn‘t come as a shock, but....hm. I can‘t say more without ruining it. @magyklyXdelish @babyruth2510 @Bookish_AF

Starting it now! I got my copy used, and it‘s a hardback library discard. Surprisingly good condition! @babyruth2510 @magyklyXdelish @Bookish_AF
Liked it as an audiobook, but halfway through it is too repetitive, if it was for effect it did not work for me. I also did not like that last part of book has to explain what was really happening, I feel that should have blended into the story more. #20in4 earned 2 hours finishing this one! @Andrew65
Papers graded ✅. Listening to the tagged book, I think listening is better on this one, the sound effects and the way it's read make it even creepier.
🎧 I don‘t think I‘d have appreciated the treeware but loved the audio.
🙄 It drags, is confusing, travels back/forth in time & is repetitive for a reason.
🧐 The narrator doesn‘t read it she acts it. Amazing job! There‘s sound effects. I listen at 1.5X so that impacts my experience.
🤓 It‘s a story of sisters Silla & Nori who escape from a bad home life to an aunt‘s creepy house in the middle of a forest & meet a boy. Creepy! 😁
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow! What a ride! Silla takes her younger sister and leaves their abusive home to live with their aunt at the manor. From there you jump on the roller coaster and it does not stop until the end. Creepy and amazing! Come ride with Silla, Nori, and Aunt Cath! If you like this one read Dead House.
It‘s very difficult to read this way but Linus does not care. 🐾🐾🐾💙📖
Rex is resting as I read in b d. We have not made it out yet. Soon. No rush. 📖💙🐾🙄

I think this would have worked better as a short story or novella. It's creepy as hell, but there's so much repetition that it took away a lot of the tension.
Horror, thriller and drama. This book pushes the limits with its unique writing styles. It's a top ten for me. If you like books that are hard to put down this book is for you. Silla is stuck in the woods, gowan and her search for her little sister.
Silla and her little sister Nori leave their troubling home and end up in her crazy aunts seemingly haunted manor. So far it's an incredible read, really keeps you on your toes and the author has the most creative interesting writing. Told in many perspectives, mainly silla, but also through her mute sister Nori and her crazy aunt Cath. If you like books that emphasize messages, keeps you reading and interested this is for you.
Listened to a little more of this audiobook last night for the #24b4monday readathon. This is excellent as an audiobook. The narrator is fantastic and the eerie background music and noises totally immerse you in the story. Usually when I listen to an audiobook, I‘m able to do other activities like clean or crochet, but with this one I just want to sit and listen.
7 hours 20 minutes so far for #24b4monday

I loved this book so much! The ending really gave me the wow factor I needed! I highly recommend!
This book is busy too weird and slow moving. I'm over 50% done and it just doesn't make sense and is moving at a snail's pace!
The audio production of this spooky story is truly excellent and really adds to the overall eerie quality of the story. It‘s not so much a #Bloody story and sort of a #GhostStory but feels original. The plot twists a bit too much at times- and as much as I appreciated the sound effects, creepy whispering behind the narration, I wished that I had a physical copy too. #AudioColoring #ChillingPhotoChallenge #TeamStoker 3pts #FallIsBooked
Two sisters, Silla and Nori, run away to their mother‘s childhood home to stay with their aunt. They are warned to stay away from the woods. Is the manor cursed? Is Silla mad? What is real? I started this on audio and had to switch to print because the background whispering was so unsettling. Several reviews stated this was repetitive, but I think that is purposeful. It contributes to a feeling of confusion and madness. I really liked this one.
This is my tentative audio #TBR for the #screamathon . Some are on hold so I may not get them in time to read this month.
I have already started the tagged book.
Alright...I'm bailing on this. I love the Audible performance but it's honestly kind of hard to follow the story as an audio book because it jumps around so much. It's a little "teeth gritting'y at times when I don't want to feel extra stress. So I returned it and got Harry Potter 4 instead ?
Book 47: This book messed with my head. Thoughtfully plotted, memorable characters, and a creepy, looming forest? Yes, please.
I wasn't at all impressed, at first. What bothered me most was the fact that the author kept revealing information that we already had. The storyline would jump from past, to future, and to present so often, that I didn't always know where I was in the storyline. And then, the story became creepy. It made me pause and reflect on mental health. It made me wonder what was truly happening. Then, the ending, and holy turds, it was jaw dropping.
The grocery store had a sale bin.
So.....
This one looks really creepy.
I don't even know where to begin. This book is amazing! The perfect Fall read! If I have any recommendation it would be to listen to the audiobook! The way the narrator tells the story is so Gripping. I went and bought the book because I want to read it for myself the next time! There are so many twists in this story that sometimes I didn't know up from down in the best way possible!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was a delightfully creepy little book. Great to get me in the Fall mood. It wasn't terrifying, but it was a great read with a twist I didn't see coming! There's always been something about the woods on an overcast day that leaves me #unsettled and even reading about the trees gave me goosebumps. 😱🍁
When I have a headache but still want to hear a good story! Listening to 'And the Trees Crept In' on Libby. I am loving the Narrators voice!
Mini library haul today! Brought home 5, but donated about 15! Nothing like supporting your local library!
Top two books are my husband‘s — bottom three are mine!
I‘m always finding recent ARCs at our library bookstore! So, thank you person who donates those treasures!!

🌲Tale about 2 sisters who move into a creepy-as-fuck house w/their aunt to escape a dangerous environment.
🌲The prose & format can be awkward at 1st, but helps create astounding ambiance & horrific atmosphere.
🌲The super dark & unusual twists & turns will keep you guessing ‘til the end.
🌲Excellent story as a whole.
🌲Supremely psychological, playing on classic horror traits, ie: claustrophobia, spooky woods, etc.
🌲Superbly imaginative.
🌲3.75
This is such a creeeepy and strange book. It‘s definitely giving me the creepy-crawlies.

FINALLY started reading this today! It‘s a fast-paced read that is very strange to say the least. Only about 30-pages in it so far, but it‘s got that creepy factor down. 👍🏽

Guys, I‘m having such a bad morning. Someone callously shared a MAJOR character death for the Attack on Titan manga series this morning & it completely ruined my day. That is a moment in the story that I‘ll never get to experience while reading. The impact & association of that moment was taken from me & I‘m so upset. 😞 Please, please tag spoilers if possible!
To take my mind off it, I gathered 4 books I wanna read in May. 🌸

Finalised my Dewey‘s 24-Hour #Readathon stack! Two of these are current reads (The Broken Girls & Meg: Primal Waters). The other two are Reads I hope to get to! 😃😃
We start at 5am in my corner of the world! Just ordered some snacks & beverages as well. I‘m totally ready for this readathon!

I was on the mood for a spooky book and this sure fit the bill. This is about a girl with her sister running away from home to live with her Aunt in a creepy house. The writing style makes the atmosphere even more unsettling. The ending was a huge suprise. I took a star off because it felt repetitive at times and could of been shorter. It is a horror novel but trigger warnings for physical abuse, extreme hunger, suicide, murder.

The reviews of this audio did NOT lie and did NOT hype it up too much!!!
I couldn't even really guess the ending on this one, guys! It's sooooo goooooood!
Seriously, did I mention this book is awesome?!
Listening to this on my dinner break to forget that I've kind of been used as a punching bag today by a coworker who misunderstood me and clients who are being unhelpful dicks. Aaaand that I have run into someone from the past who is connected to not so great memories.
Ugh. I think my "Monday" is happening today.
Just finished this on audio and I really liked it. The narration and production were fantastic, the story sufficiently creepy. Well done!

Really enjoying this one. The audio even made me jump a couple of times. The narrator is excellent. #audiowalking
I‘ve got to admit: this was a FANTASTIC audio production. As Silla worries about her sanity, whispers build in the background, coming first from one speaker & then the other. The effect is extremely unsettling. But the story itself? 🤷♀️ Eh. The plot relies largely on cliches. I know suspense is important for horror stories but this felt WAY longer than needed. Towards the end, Silla asks, “I was in that place, in that hell, for 74 years?!” SAME.
