1) While I‘m not quite finished it yet (still have about an hour left to read of it), I have really enjoyed the tagged book.
2) I have really enjoyed the characters, as they are all deeply flawed in some sort of way and they feel really fleshed out, even though they are despicable individuals.

Another good week of reading. My least favorite was Excellent Women and my favorite was Olympus, Texas on audio. A close second was This Time Tomorrow.
pickI‘m not sure what mythology story this is supposed to be retelling, but I really liked the story.
Its basically set over a week period. A murder happens, a lot of family drama and a lot of cheating.
Overall, it was an entertaining read and a nice listen on audio.

I‘m a mythology nerd (especially Greek, though the author based characters on both Greek and Roman god and goddess names), and adore any sort of book (well-written of course) about a dysfunctional family. And WHAT family is more dysfunctional than the mythical immortal family of Olympus? Good stuff 🤓 Aaaaand I figured out who was who (mostly), so I‘ve fully solidified that I am still 100% nerd 😁😂
bailedI‘m fascinated with the Greek myths ... but I can‘t seem to enjoy books based on them. The blurb to this was promicing , but I‘ve got to bail, I‘m finding it all a bit dry , I wasn‘t enjoying the feel of the book. I did go to the last pages to get a sense of what happened. #unpopularopinion

I haven‘t brushed up on my mythology in a long time, but you don‘t need to remember it to enjoy the drama of this extended clan in modern day, small town Texas. This novel proves that some stories are timeless yet still can have new life brought to them. The #audiobook narration is excellent!

When prodigal son March returns to town after a two year absence the fates & furies wreck havoc on this Godlike family. SO MUCH DRAMA!!! Completely captivated. Swann explores themes of forgiveness and unconditional love as this family faces their past demons and their present troubles. The feel of small town life is captured very well and adds an extra layer of drama to the story.
You do not need to be a fan of mythology to enjoy this one, especially if you enjoy stories of dysfunctional families.

pickThe members of the well-known, influential Briscoe family are modeled in the images of Greek gods/goddesses. I‘m not up on my greek mythology, so I wasn‘t sure I would enjoy this one. Wrong! I loved this family drama that first introduced characters so that I came to care for them and then the plot really gets going. Family secrets, tragedy, and much more. Can love truly be unconditional? I‘ve been thinking of these characters since finishing!

so-soI was intrigued by the concept of this book! Drawing inspiration from Greek Mythology to create modern day characters and explore the havoc they wreak. There were some thought-provoking hidden gems in this book that I really enjoyed; deep, insightful lines. Overall I found the pace to be slow, the premise to be disturbing (but still uninteresting somehow) and an ending that tied up loose ends a little too neatly.
There‘s quite a bit of sibling conflict in this novel based on Roman myths.

pickI really enjoyed this even though I only have a passing knowledge of the Roman gods that inspired the characters. It‘s like a season of the soap Dallas. The narrator was great too. She did a good job with the female and the male characters, which isn‘t always the case.
pickLoved this one! It‘s full of the messy, dysfunctional families that make for good stories. And it took a turn there that I wasn‘t quite expecting. I‘m sure I missed a lot of the connections with Greek mythology but caught some of them. There were a few parts of it that were a little unrealistic but overall it was really well done and I‘m looking forward to see what this author does next.
I‘m really enjoying this audiobook even though I only have a vague understanding of the Roman mythology that inspired the story. I‘m finding reasons to listen since I‘m not driving much at the moment.

With how hectic this summer has been, I‘ve been bad about posting my weekly reading. This week included some really stellar reads. I finished Klara last night and loved it. It wasn‘t quite 5 stars for me but it‘ll stick with me for a long time. And whoaaaa was @Cinfhen right about Razorblade Tears. If every thriller was written that way, I‘d read a lot more them.
I AM SO EXCITED! Today was my last day of work for four whole days! My extra long weekend starts tomorrow! 💕📚 Won't be doing much other than reading, walking at the park, and snuggling kitties! Roxas and I are getting ready to celebrate! 😸
PS- I absolutely LOVE this book! 💕
PPS- I had to deal with a grown ass adult patron today who jammed 30 some pieces of paper in the hole puncher and broke it. 😒 I'm ready for a long reading weekend! 😂🤣
