A few days late, but my 2017 stats. This was my first year tracking more than just number of books and pages read. Overall I‘m pleased, but I definitely see room for improvement in diversifying my reads. I also read a lot of short books (my average was around 292 pages) so I want to tackle some larger books this year.

#2017 #stats #yearinreview

Bostonmomx2 I hope this isn‘t a completely stupid question, but what is POC? 6y
Andrew65 Brilliant, well done! 🎉🎊🍾🥂🙌 Quite a few of us this year are looking to tackle larger books, you are amongst good company. 6y

Kristy_K @Bostonmomx2 @bookloo I chose only count authors for POC but I‘ve seen it done both ways. :) 6y

2017 was my first year doing reading challenges other than the Goodreads challenge. I tried the #LitsyReadingChallenge & #LitsyAtoZ . I didn't finish either one (lacking D, J, K, R, V, X), but I made a decent dent in both. Both The Virgin Suicides (10% in) & Anna Karenina (20% in) are on my currently reading list and both would've applied to another square or letter. Here's to a more productive (as far as reading goes) 2018!

Well, despite the year mostly being a dumpster 🔥 I did make my yearly reading goal! That‘s something, right?
For 2018 I bumped my goal up to 200. I‘ve read more than that for the last couple of years, but not by a ton ton, so it‘ll be more of a stretch than my usual 150.

Reviewsbylola Damn! Way to go! I hope 2018 is better for you overall. ❤️ 6y

I was so happy to crush my goal of 165 back in July and was sure I'd be able to reach 300 by the end of the year. Pregnancy had other things in mind for me (for a bit there I went from reading 7-10 books a week to going a whole month without finishing a book!😱) but I'm happy I finally got back on track. Ready to start 2018! 🤗#readinggoal #2017review

Andrew65 Given that the total is even more fantastic! 👏👏👏 6y
JenlovesJT47 @Andrew65 thank you!! 🤗❤️ 6y

JenlovesJT47 @new2kindle Happy New Year to you too! You do you, one book a month is still an excellent goal. It makes me sad how many people don't read any books at all. 😪 6y
new2kindle @JenlovesJT47 well my 1st book of 2018 is underway Murder On The Orient Express which so far is enjoyable. Hopefully I can get more than 12 read in 2018...I've plenty lined up ☺ 6y
JenlovesJT47 @new2kindle ooh Murder On The Orient Express is a great book! I also really love the 1974 movie (haven't seen the new one yet). If you haven't read it already I would highly highly recommend reading Dame Agatha's And Then There Were None. It's the best-selling mystery of all time for good reason! I was on the edge of my seat and had to finish it in one night. 6y
julesG 👏👏👏 wow! 6y
Eggs Congratulations on your blessed event 👶😍 6y
JenlovesJT47 @Eggs thank you so much! 🤗❤️ 6y
JenlovesJT47 @julesG 😄thank you! 6y
new2kindle @JenlovesJT47 funnily enough Then There Were None was my 1st book of 2017 so it's a little tradition I seem to have started ☺ I enjoyed it! Very gripping. Havnt seen either of the Express films as I didn't want spoilers. Have you read Death On The Nile? I picked it up cheap on kindle so perhaps I'll save it for 2019 lol 6y
JenlovesJT47 @new2kindle I haven't read Death on the Nile yet but I watched the movie a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I'm sure the book is much better! Btw if you haven't seen it yet you should catch the miniseries for And Then There Were None that came out in 2016, it was excellent IMO. Happy reading! Agatha for the first book each year sounds like a great tradition to me! 6y
new2kindle @JenlovesJT47 certainly plenty of Agatha books to choose from. The mini series was very popular here in the UK & def on my to watch list. Hopefully 2018 is a year of catching up on books & films ☺ ps congratulations on your happy news! I'm sure the little one will love being read to 👍 6y
JenlovesJT47 @new2kindle thank you so much! 🤗 yep I definitely plan on starting him out early with reading. I think for birthday parties I'll ask everyone to bring a book instead of toys, at least when he's really small! 😅 yes, so many Agatha books to choose from, I'm very slowly making my way through them, hope to read more this year! 6y
new2kindle @JenlovesJT47 I'm sure he will love it,So much choice these days ☺ how's the Corey Feldman audio book? 6y
JenlovesJT47 @new2kindle I actually got the kindle book but haven't started it yet. I was mainly reading graphic novels at the end of the year but it's on my TBR for January. Will definitely post a review once I finish it! 6y

My year in books. My goal was 36 books but I fell short. I‘m still navigating the work/kids/family balance as this was my first full year back to work in 17 years. I didn‘t spend as much free time with a book, but I know 36 is attainable, if I put my phone down and pick up my book.

2018‘s goals: 36 books (so many fewer than most Littens!), clear off my overflowing bookshelves and participate more on Litsy with monthly wrap ups, etc.

With the year finally coming to a close, here‘s #MyYearInBooks. I set my limit low at 25 this year cuz I was coming out of a very long reading slump (I‘m talking years). Not a bad reading year, but not a great one either. Expecting a much better year in books for 2018! Not doing a single challenge, probably listening to more audiobooks than 2017. Happy New Year, littens!!

8little_paws @MicheleinPhilly frankly I'm shocked I got it so high because I feel like I had a reading slump of a solid 4-5 months where I read maybe one book a week. I also feel like I read a lot of duds this year, but maybe not after all? Perhaps tonight I'll do a best 17 of 2017. 6y

These are the totals from my reading spreadsheet for 2017. I only count pages for text read and hours for audio. One of those 144 books was read and counted twice. A few books were a combination of formats, but I tallied the main format used for each. Over 100 were from the library, borrowed from friends, or accessed free in some way.

And here is my savings for all the physical books that I took out from my local libraries ❤️ I saved $5,678.25 !!! 😲😲😲😲

That means if I combine the physical loans with the digital and audiobook loans, I had a whopping total savings of $11,199.43 after taxes.

MommyWantsToReadHerBook I also wanted to add. But there's so many stack adds from your reading 💙 6y
BarbaraJean @MommyWantsToReadHerBook Oh, I think you‘ll enjoy all three of those, but all for completely different reasons! I think it was Dorothy Dunnett we were talking about—the Lymond Chronicles. Does that sound familiar? This is the first one of that series: 6y

BarbaraJean @Cinfhen Those are all so good! I love Chambers‘ Wayfarers books so much—her characters are just wonderful. And March is both fascinating and difficult to read (emotionally), but so important. We Are Okay surprised me. Beautifully written and a lot more to it than I expected. 6y

I tried to get my Hogwarts mug in the picture, but it's a tad bit too tall. 😂

Lucas.Rencher @Rachel.Rencher great choices and we do love our tall mugs of coffee! ☕📚🤓 6y
Andrew65 Loved 11.22.63. A number of your list are books I want to get to. 6y
Mdargusch I‘ve had 800 grapes in my TBR for awhile- I guess I should move it up. 6y
Rachel.Rencher @Mdargusch It was just a good, quick read! I enjoyed Dave's storytelling 😊🍇 6y

1. I don't listen to audiobooks~
2. Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
3. Where Am I Now? by Mara Wilson
4. Probably Phillip Pullman or Liane Moriarty!

#LitsyQuestions @GypsyKat

GypsyKat I have Crooked Kingdom on my TBR shelf, I plan on reading it soon! 6y
HelloImJez @GypsyKat That series is SO good! I read it MONTHS ago and I still think about it on the regular! Definitely add it to your 2018 reading list 😊 6y
GypsyKat @HelloImJez Oh believe me, it‘s on there! 😊 6y

Just updated my Books I've Read In 2017 list and so far I've read 444. I think I'm going to have to try for 450.... I've got 30 hours to read 6 more. I think that's more than manageable with all these graphic novels I have laying around. 😉📚

And to think I started off my year with a goal of 52. 😂 #CRUSHEDIT

Heideschrampf Woooooooooow!! Congrats!! 😲👊 6y
MallenNC Wow! Good job 6y

JenniferJarrell That‘s impressive! I just parked my Goodreads TBR down to 450 and made the joke I‘ll need four years in isolation to even come close. How did you do it? 6y
Clwojick @JenniferJarrell honestly, graphic novels and audiobooks. I listed to over 100 audiobooks this year alone, and I got really into graphic novels... some of which only take me 20-30 mins to read. Earlier in the year I had a 3 month #readingslump when I read nothing.... but than I found Litsy. The main thing that helped me read so much was Litsy. I added sooo many books to my TBR, and really opened up my genres this year. 6y
Ingerella That's exactly what is happening to me since I joined Litsy. My reading mojo is at an all time high and I'm starting to read things I might never have tried before. I bought 2 graphic novels for the first time ever today! 6y
JenniferJarrell @Clwojick @Ingerella Litsy has tremendously impacted my TBR too. I just discovered that I like audiobooks; hopefully I can bump up my numbers this year. Although 59 books read isn‘t too shabby, I guess. 6y
Ingerella @JenniferJarrell 59 sounds pretty good to me! 450 is amazing!! 6y
Clwojick @Ingerella oooh! Which graphic novels did you grab? If you find you like the genre, you should join us for the #LetsGetGraphicWeeklongMarathon 😘 6y
Clwojick @JenniferJarrell 59 is great! Have you tried any apps for audiobooks? I love Libby and Hoopla, because they are attatched to my library card. 6y
Clwojick @Ingerella @JenniferJarrell I used to read mostly chicklits and I would get so bored of them because I knew the way the book would go... they all follow the same guideline for the most part... but with audiobooks available and with Litsy opening my eyes to sooo many other genres I've gotten more into popular fiction, poetry, autobiographies, more mysteries, graphic novels, and even kids picture books. If it looks interesting I Stack it! 6y
Ingerella @Clwojick I got Ms. Marvel Vol.1 and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which just looks fun. I also downloaded Saga from the library. I'm excited to see if I like them. I never would have given them a second thought before. 6y
Clwojick @Ingerella ooooh! Good choices ❤️ I also suggest RatQueens, Giant Days, Bitch Planet, Chew, and Lumberjanes. 6y
JenniferJarrell @Clwojick I use Overdrive with my library card - not familiar with the other two. I‘ll have to check them out! I will read just about anything (including plenty of regency romance), so my tastes are all over the place. Graphic novels are new to me though. I read the March series this year and really loved them. Maybe I should add more to my list for 2018. 6y

SilversReviews @Velvetfur It was marvelous. The book is BEFORE THE RAIN FALLS by Camille Di Maio. I ran out of allowed characters so I didn‘t put the pictured ones in as words. Thanks for asking. (edited) 6y

How I feel about 2017 at the moment. What a crapptastic year. Between 45 being a you-know-what for most of the year and the massive hurricanes that hit the Gulf Coast and the Caribbean and the lack of buzzy books, it‘s not been a great. But there are signs: the election in VA, the bringing in of Doug Moore, the Women‘s March... There is hope.

Suet624 Yes. Totally agree. 6y
Nat_Reads You're right--there is hope! 6y
drokka Did you mean Doug Jones? I just hope no one holds 2018's beer, because I can't take a third consecutive year of continued sadness and anger. Thank goodness for places like Litsy where people are supportive. 6y
