Eh. I was excited to hear about this comic (the movie is one of my favorites), but I was underwhelmed. I appreciated the diversity of the characters and the new ones added in too, but the mystery and following everyone and the butler/narrator constantly breaking the 4th wall to talk to the creators? Just didn‘t do it for me. I feel liked it either needed more time for pacing/plot, or less story threads. #deweysoct book 4

I read this June 16 and gave it 2 ⭐️ on Good Reads. I was on the fence about buying this one and I kind of wished I hadn‘t. It just tried too hard. There were playful nods to the film version from the 80s, which was fine. But it‘s hard to decide what this graphic novel wants to be. There is just too much going on and little satisfaction.

#Clues, epi 4.14, well-crafted plot about missing time & incomplete information. The moral of the story is SO questionable from an anthropological POV (human 'nature' doesn't lead to a love of mystery; it's all culture & not universal), but still super fun. Another great Spiner perfomance. Why does it look like they're dancing to Thriller in the pic?

Clue is a bad roll'n'move boardgame, a great movie and good graphic novel.

This graphic novel has been on my TBR ever since I discovered its existence from a Litsy post--I wish I remembered whose. I haven't done many graphic novels, and this was my first for adults, but I loved it! So much fun seeing the characters from my favorite game come to life, but also get a makeover and have high-powered and diverse characters. Different plot than the movie, and there was a cheesy narrator who breaks the 4th wall, but it works.

Kaylamburson I scrolled far enough down on the book page to discover @MidnightBookGirl brought my attention to this gem. Thank you!! 7mo

This was a fun read based on the game and movie of the same name. Read it if you‘re a fan of either. I enjoyed the interpretation of the different characters, especially Mr Green as a ‘pharma bro‘. I also enjoyed how the Butler kept breaking the fourth wall, although I can see how some might find that aspect annoying. 4.5 ⭐️

The Clue graphic novel was a lot of fun. It‘s my favorite board game and the movie with Tim Curry was great. If you have no idea what Clue is, a group of strangers are invited to a dinner party where their host is killed, investigation and further murders occur. My only complaint would be the excessive breaking of the 4th wall. I often find that off-putting because it feels like cheating on exposition. It was still great fun for me.

Soubhiville I love both the board game and the movie! This GN looks fun! 12mo
amb @Soubhiville I think that board game might be where my love of mystery comes from. That and Nancy Drew 😁 12mo

I loved playing the board game as a kid. I loved the campy movie. This was a really fun update. I thought the art was atmospheric. I loved how the butler talked to the reader and argued with the editor. I enjoyed the interwoven social commentary. I was less enamored with the overall story arc. Still, definitely recommended.

Sace The reviews on Amazon weren't so great but I didn't care and bought it anyway. I'm a sucker for Clue and graphic novels. I trust Litsy reviews more anyway. 😁 1y

This was a fun, quick read. I loved how the butler narrated it, constantly breaking the fourth wall. But the final issue in the arc is what kept this from being a four star. It felt like they didn‘t know how to end it and said, screw it let‘s just...spoiler below. Otherwise it was good, solid 3⭐️‘s.

GarthRanzz The butler fully broke the fourth wall, killing the writer, artist, inker, etc before finally killing the reader. I think they could have come up with something a little better. Perhaps something that left room for another series. 2y
Eyelit Good point! And I def would have loved another series 😄 2y

If you are at all a fan of the film Clue, I'd highly recommend this graphic novel. (It doesn't actually follow the movie, but there are lots of little jokes that won't be as funny if you haven't seen it). It's hilarious and great fun from start to finish.

This was fun. There were some great nods to the 1985 film as well as some entertaining modern-day references. I loved how the butler, Upton, was both narrator and character, frequently breaking the fourth wall, and engaging in conversation with the comic editor. I liked the art and the panels were easy to follow sequentially. As a relative comic/graphic novel novice, I always appreciate ones that are intuitive and easy to read

So far, this graphic novel is hysterical. After four long hours at the auto service center (an hour of which could have been avoided if the service manager had LISTENED to me instead of being a chauvinist ass and acting like because I was a woman I couldn‘t know anything about cars) I need a little light entertainment and will be watching this awesome movie. I always wanted Miss Scarlett‘s dress...#eveningplans #currentlyreading

Leftcoastzen Don‘t you f‘fin hate that!Mansplaining jerks who won‘t listen cuz you are a woman. Who drives the car everyday. Sorry , hot button for me.(took profanity out)🤬😅 2y
DGRachel @Leftcoastzen I‘ve been angry for 10 hours. 😂 We had this problem in December when I had the front brakes done and he ordered the wrong brake pads, not realizing my car had the HD/racing brake package from Dodge. I made a point of reminding him of the specialty brakes for the rear service today and he STILL ordered the wrong parts and I had to wait an additional 45 minutes for the correct rotors to be delivered. Dude. 2y
Leftcoastzen @DGRachel Ggggrrrrrrr! At least Littens bring something to read. 2y
Reviewsbylola @AnnieD let‘s secretly mail a copy of this to Rusty. 🤣🤣🤣 2y
Kaylamburson I need to read this! I could use a good laugh, too. I‘m sorry you had to deal with assholes today. Ugh, the worst. 2y
batsy It's such a fun read & I love the movie! My sister recently had an issue where the service centre could not tell her what was wrong with her car after several days, deflecting questions, delaying, not addressing the problem based on her feedback (they would have solved it faster if they did). When her male colleague called & pretended to be her husband who was very upset that his wife was inconvenienced, she got her car back the next day 😡😡😡 2y
DGRachel @batsy That‘s so wrong! 😡 I‘m not an automotive expert by any means, but I love cars and know just enough to be dangerous. A decade ago I had an ex try to tell me that the problem with my car was the spark plugs and I swore the clutch was going. He replaced the spark plugs. I bought a new car because, wait for it....the clutch went and I‘d already replaced it once. 🙄 2y
batsy Ugh. It's so absolutely wrong and I know I shouldn't be surprised, but I'm still surprised that sexism like this exists 😖 2y
readinginthedark This happens to me at almost every car place! I finally found one where they listen to me and then explain the things that I don‘t understand (in a “this way you‘ll recognize it next time” way, not a “since you don‘t know anything” way), and I go there every time now! 2y
AnnieD @Reviewsbylola it wouldn‘t be so secret but I support it 2y
