I finally read this book (and in time for Halloween! I'm just a little behind in reviews). I grew up loving the movie and have been planning to read the book for a while. It was great fun reading lines that are word-for-word in the movie. The movie has slightly better storytelling. Bradbury does an amazing job as the movie's narrator. #Halloween #BookToScreen

I‘d never read any ray Bradbury before this October and now I‘m obsessed! I‘m so lucky these stories are on audible plus, they‘re completely magical and I see myself rereading a lot. I wish some of my friends would hurry up and have kids so I could be the fun aunt who buys gorgeous whimsical seasonal books for them 🎃

This was my 3rd time reading The Halloween Tree, This time, I listened to the audiobook, and greatly enjoyed the narration. 70 points for #Scarathlon #TeamWhoYaGonnaCall

A group of boys get quite the trick on Halloween, when they meet a man presumably the devil, who takes them on a journey to learn about the history of the day around the world. The trick? Their favorite friend Pipkin keeps dying or suffering ill fates as the boys keep trying to save him. The voices are perfection in this audiobook—especially the devil‘s. The descriptions are mesmerizing and history interesting. #scarathlon #batbrigade

My #HauntedHollowSwap vibe this year is vintage & campy. I am grooving to movies I watched with my kids when they were little - Casper, Haunted Mansion, Hocus Pocus - but also some annual re-reads (Christie‘s Hallowe‘en Party) & re-listens (full-cast version of Bradbury‘s Halloween Tree). I am a huge fan of ghost stories and adore books by Sarah Rayne and Simone St. James. Bring on the witches, jack-o-lanterns, ghosts & goblins! @wanderinglynn

I love the way Bradbury tells a story. His work is deceptively complex and I enjoyed this Spooky Season exploration of friendship, adventure, imagination, grief and death. I might not make it an annual tradition, but I would consider reading it again.

This was another one where I just couldn‘t concentrate on the audio, but adored it once I switched to the print version. I am not sure why I missed reading/listening to this Ray Bradbury classic Halloween book before but it was an enjoyable listen last night (narrated by Bronson Pinochet). Lightly spooky & a good review of Halloween traditions around the world. I think it will fill a square in a #LittenListen bingo & 26 points for my #TeamHendrix scorecard with it‘s Halloween title & focus.

I love Bradbury (Dandelion Wine is one of my favorite books EVAH), but had never read this one… I decided to listen because of how much another of my swap partners @PatriciaU loves it, and I‘m so glad I did!

A quick, spooky story starts with a haunted house, continues with a creepy character taking some trick-or-treaters through time to see the history & meaning of Halloween. All with Bradbury‘s amazing & touching storytelling.🖤
