Couldn‘t put it down! This was the only Quinn I hadn‘t read for some reason, and it was just as perfect as her other 20th c. heroine stories. Brilliantly complex characters and satisfying moral clarity. Beautiful use of switching timelines and perspectives, to a cinematic effect. Her writing is like honey—a smooth and delicious read.
Another excellent historical fiction by Kate Quinn! Told from multiple POV‘s makes for some compelling reading! Loved everything about it!
Riveting reading. It‘s interesting because, pretty early on, you can figure out where this is ultimately going, but how it gets to the conclusion is fascinating. I loved these characters so much that I hated to see the book end. I wanted to know how things worked out. As with other books by this author, there‘s a basis in fact, and the author‘s notes are a must read. Definitely recommend.
Not exactly what you think of as a beach read, but it‘s what I brought along. I don‘t actually read on the beach; most of my reading is done on the balcony of the condo we‘ve rented in one of my favorite places, Sanibel Island. The island is still recovering from the devastating hurricane two years ago, so we feel lucky to have found a place. Best news is that the marvelous Gene‘s Books is being rebuilt! Not open yet, but next visit…
1-My only brother. He survived being the only boy in an 8 girl-family, as well as mistreatment by our dad. In the US Air Force in the 1960s, he took a crash course (8mo) to speak, act, and impersonate a Russian to infiltrate as a spy in East Germany during the Cold War. Forbidden by the military to ever divulge these activities, he finally explained it all to me in 2018 as he lay dying. 💔 cont‘d 👇🏻

My second book from @Itchyfeetreader ‘s #AuldLangSpine list. While it‘s been on my TBR for a while now, this was my push to finally get to it! I started the audiobook last month but at 19 hours, it‘s taken me a bit to work through it. I got down to the final hour while running errands & I had to come home & finish it up to find out what happened.🫣What a ride! Quinn writes great characters & thrilling WWII stories & this book is ⬇️
For #LitSolace #HyggeHourReadathon
I am spending my 8-9 PM #HyggeHour & around it on the couch finishing up my cards for #ValentineCardSwap while listening to one of my current reads from @Itchyfeetreader ‘s #AuldLangSpine list. I started it last month & I‘m about halfway through & really enjoying it so far.
My mood is mellow & a bit tired as I‘m not ready for Monday & a busy work week. I‘m rewarding myself with some salted caramel 🍫❤️
This book has three strong female characters. Nina was such a strong and determined woman, wanting to fly and, after the war, track down the huntress. And Jordan, so young, navigating through post-war world. The huntress herself was cunning and ruthless, but her backstory was never fully explained. I enjoyed the detailed descriptions of the time period and especially the storyline about the female night bomber regiment.
I‘m so excited about reading this book!!!! Thank you @LeslieO !! Excellent choice. And I‘m about to dig into the chocolate stash! PS: the dark chocolate pops are amazing!!
Thanks @MaleficentBookDragon for hosting! I drew you! Did you get my package?

Another excellent WWII book by Kate Quinn.
A very enjoyable audiobook which was well narrated with the twin timelines. Anyone who enjoys high quality historical fiction should be rewarding her WWII books.
8th book finished for November and #Rushathon @DieAReader @Ghabi4Roses
My favorite book this October was The Huntress by Kate Quinn. I adored this story.
I did have plans for Halloween but had to cancel as I‘m sick as a dog. Extra tea and blankets for me.
Exactly my kind of historical fiction. Rich plot, well drawn characters and things I didn‘t know. In this case both how tough it was to track down many who committed war crimes and also more about the fascinating women only pilot squadrons in Russia. You always know where this is going to end but the journey to get there has me begging for five more minutes reading last night like I was 7 again.
1. The Huntress by Kate Quinn - I used to love WWII historical fiction but haven‘t read an adjacent one in a while. This was stunning.
2. I‘m excited for spooky book season and my annual Harry Potter reread. Give me all the witchy vibes!!
@TheSpineView
Just starting this audiobook and it‘s fascinating. I‘m loving the different points of view - can‘t wait to see how they all integrate together!
Three people work together to bring a Nazi to justice- Nina who once flew with the Russian Night Witches, Ian who left his career in journalism to hunt Nazis, and Jordan an American teenager with a new stepmother and dreams of a future bigger than only being a wife. They come from different places but for each of them this quest is very personal. Another great read by Quinn with such strong characters and a story that kept me glued to the pages.
The only Kate Quinn I hadn't read - so glad I finally grabbed it! I loved how all of these storylines interconnected, the surprise sapphic relationship, and the fact that Anneliese never got a moment on page to explain or try to justify her actions. Love that she was rendered as human, so we don't claim Nazis were a fluke, but we also don't redeem Nazis in this house! #historicalfiction

Q. 10: Most recommended book
I do recommend Kate Quinn a lot. Flawless and exquisitely researched historical fiction-they‘re all compelling!
@Clwojick @LadyKatrina
What an incredible story!!!
3 timelines told from 3 perspectives as post-war Nazi hunters search for the Huntress.
Ian is a British reporter who is spending the post-war years in Europe hunting war criminals.
Nina is a Siberian-born pilot whose only goal is to escape her past.
Jordan is a 17-year-old Bostonian who is trying to figure out her place in the world.
3 very different people pulled together by one woman.
So good! A dark thriller with a fascinating historical plot. What do a Russian bomber pilot (a Night Witch), Nazi hunters and a young woman from Boston have in common? They are all chasing the same enemy, a Nazi predator escaping detection. This book was amazing, hard to put down, beautifully written with characters you grow to love. Highly recommend! #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #Pantone2023 #OysterMushroom @Clwojick #20in4 @Andrew65
A dual timeline historical fiction about people trying to bring war criminals to justice after WWII. I was hooked.
Kate Quinn is so good at these historical novels. I really enjoyed this one about post WWII war criminals. My only complaint was I thought she could have ended it a bit sooner.

This book was hard for me to put down! A storyline that spans over decades/ several characters, it evokes those integral human emotions that are highlighted during strife/warfare - love, acceptance, yearning for something better and making connections with those you love. Ian‘s storyline of losing his brother, Nina‘s fierceness & bold approach to life, Tony‘s suaveness that has a deeper layer, and Jordan, who inspired me to find my inner j bryde!
A little bit predictable. Well written and characters that are developed ok l, they could be a little more. The story is split between 1950s Boston and WWII Europe. A trio of Nazi Hunters are searching for a ruthless female murderer. There are also love stories. There are twists, they are a little predictable, and some action.
Recommend.
I had a hard time rating this. I loved the character of Nina, who was a member of the Russian “Night Witches” in WWII. I had never heard of them, but will definitely be reading more about them. The other characters were a bit stereotypical, which knocked the book down for me. Not a bad read, but I only kept reading it for the story of Nina and her role in the Night Witches. I‘m off now to read more about the Night Wiches!
Couldn‘t find the exact title. Signal moon was a quick but great read!
There is an evil stepmom-to-be in this suspenseful Hitchcock-like HF novel - took my breath away 😳😱

Great place to finish reading my book #thehuntress #colorado
Road trip reading. Anyone else find it somewhat confusing keeping up with the timelines in The Huntress?
I wrapped up “The Book of Names” last night. Such a beautifully written novel. Now, I‘m on to my next read but a bit conflicted; which would you read first, The Alice Network or The Huntress?
Historical novel about the war, Nazi hunting and war criminals. Not my usual reading choice but I liked this book! Suspense and great characters!
Finished this one back in December. It was my bookclub pick for Q4. I really enjoyed The Alice Network and wanted to read another by Kate Quinn. This one could‘ve been shorter, but overall I enjoyed reading it. The story was compelling and the parts about the Soviet women pilots in the war were quite good. If you like historical fiction, this is a good one.
This is my 2nd book of the #roll100 challenge. I was completely engrossed in this historical fiction tale of the hunt for a female Nazi war criminal. The background on the Russian pilots known as the Night Witches was fascinating and Nina will be one of my favorite characters for a while to come. I also went down a rabbit hole looking up the female photographers of the era mentioned. This is the first Kate Quinn I‘ve read but not the last!
Kate Quinn always manages to write something unique & magnificent. I was hooked from page one and, though I more or less understood where the ending would take me, couldn't put it down. Strong female protagonists are her strength, but all characters in The Huntress are rich & vibrant. The plot is executed fabulously in a multi POV style & focused a lot on post WWII. An intriguing read that I devoured over the course of just a couple of days.
Entertaining, but too Hollywood mainstream for me. Kate Quinn brings together all the ingredients to build a bestseller, leading to unrealistic characters (too good to be true), and to a manichean vision of history... Book recommendations: Hunting the Truth by Serge and Beate Klarsfeld / The Man with the Miraculous Hands by Joseph Kessel / Sulfuric Acid by Amélie Nothomb ;)
Here is a picture of my reading paradise ;)
Fun fact: Most of the books I own I haven't read yet. I rarely keep a book after I read it: either I give it to a specific person that I know might like it, or I donate it.
The books in good condition that I read will go to the Cody library in San Antonio, Texas to enrich their collection ;)
Happy October, friends. 🎃🍁🍂Here‘s my #BookSpinBingo list for the month. The mysterious red book is Hag-Seed by Margaret Atwood. I bought it at a library sale a couple years ago (remember when those happened?!) and it didn‘t have the dust jacket. @TheAromaofBooks
My reading buddy. #mbcreadathon #mbcbookfrogsreadathon8
Kate Quinn is fast becoming a favorite author of mine. This was a gripping read about a band of Nazi hunters searching for "the Huntress" in the 1950s. The band consists of a former war reporter, an interpreter, and a former "night witch", one of the Soviet women pilots/navigators who fought on the front lines of the Eastern front.
It was less intense than The Alice Network or Rose Code, but still enthralling with great characters.
