Everyone's welcome to play!!
I enjoyed this (presumably) final installment of the Practical Magic series, but unevenly so. My deep affection for the elder Owenses — specifically Franny, Jet, and Vincent — is somewhat undermined by my then relative indifference for the youngest generation. Not sure why I couldn‘t seem to care as much for Kylie and Antonia, but it kept me feeling somewhat disconnected for large sections of the story.

I got 3 library books and put 3 on hold. Well the 3 on hold became available already. Now got 6 library books to read and then the 2 top books I bought today from B&N for my birthday to read whenever. Big book haul!
Oh no! I didn't enjoy this as much as the others in the series. I think because I love the Owens Women so much and this book was going off on too many tangents telling us the life stories of the men in this book - new characters. And while we already know about the women I was not at all interested in meeting these other characters so in depth. The storyline itself was good and I wanted to know what happened but it took too many tangents.

The chaos and interval of the publication order notwithstanding, I enjoyed—and recommend—this final installment in the Practical Magic fantasy series. Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#the-book-of-magic-practical-magic-2

What a great way to end the series! I really couldn‘t put the book down, and was enthralled by the historical note regarding Amelia Bassano, who I had not heard about, but now want to learn more about! For anyone who has been a fan of these books, hopefully you will enjoy the ending as much as I did, and feel a little more than you did when you started.
This happened today 👍👏👏👏
I didn't have exorbitantly high hopes since this series has been a mixed bag, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is a long story, but there is a lot at work & each character was given their due. The plot can be a little slow & there is a lot of background setup, but for me it was just an exploration of those things I was fond of in previous books. A rewarding end to the series that left the characters in a place that felt natural & comforting.

December is always a light reading month for me.
12-28-21: My 130th finished book of 2021! This was a wonderful ending to a beautiful series. The Owens family has been cursed in love for more than 300 years but now Jet and Franny and Gillian and Sally will come together with Sally‘s grown daughters, and travel to England to fight the curse that has cost so many lives. It was a perfect ending. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👍🏼📖#️⃣1️⃣3️⃣0️⃣
I finished my chronological read of the Practical Magic series!
While this wasn‘t my favorite of the four books, I still loved every minute of it. I fell in love with all of the Owens witches, one at a time, in the other books, and this book was a heartbreaking, heartwarming, satisfying love-letter of a conclusion. Hoffman‘s writing is gorgeous, as ever.
Bonus: Ehle‘s excellent narration while I was watching her in P&P every night.❤️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
12-25-21: Merry Christmas from my family to all of you!! Here‘s hoping you all got lots of books this year!! 🎄💖⭐️
I love this series and this book did not disappoint. I listened to this, but will buy a physical copy as I would like to reread. This is a love letter to books, family, and love itself. Just a joy to read 4.5 🌟
“Some stories begin at the beginning and others begin at the end, but all the best stories begin in a library.”
Okay, Alice Hoffman, wreck me, let‘s do this. #practicalmagic #librarylove
I totally forgot I had this on hold and in a moment of perfect timing it became available the same day I had books due, although it really would not have hurt my feelings to make two trips to the library 📚
I‘m a fan of the series especially the last two, but the finale didn‘t quite work for me 😭 maybe because I had high hopes. I felt the new characters a little underwhelming and the plot dragged on in the middle. Full review here: https://bit.ly/3xp3npt Thank you Simon & Schuster for the galley of the book in exchange for an honest opinion.
Bk2 of November is done! The conclusion to the Practical Magic series was as beautifully written as the previous books & it was bittersweet to see Franny, Jet & Vincent‘s story come full circle. Not everyone lives but they all got their happiness in the end. Love is the magic that makes the world go round after all❤️ #BookspinBingo #PennyPerPage #FinishingTheSeries2021 #StackingTheSeries #SeriesRead2021 #Pageathon #Pop21

I loved this book. It is the conclusion to Practical Magic books. The Owen's women set out to finally break their curse so they will be free to love ❤

Whew, this book made me feel a bit emotional. I got really attached to Franny and Jet and it‘s a bit sad to see this series come to a close. I‘m glad I recently read The Rules of Magic and Magic Lessons last year as this book wouldn‘t make much sense otherwise. There is just a wonderful homecoming about these books with family, doing no harm, love, and the magic we may not be born to, but that we make for ourselves.
This was a nice conclusion to the curse of the Owens family - to undo what was done. I read @Branwen ‘s post noting the author and editors forgetting the manner of death of Michael in Practical Magic - I appreciate that I was prepared for that miss! It‘s definitely a companion to the previous trilogy and doesn‘t really stand alone as it‘s own story. And that‘s completely fine as it‘s not intended to stand alone.
Okay, so I don't want to be THAT person..but I can't stop thinking about this.
There is an inconsistency in this new book that is driving me nuts. In the beginning of this book, it's mentioned that Sally's first husband, Michael, was killed by being struck by lightning. Um. That's wrong! In the first Practical Magic he died by being hit by a car driven by drunk teens! (I went back and double checked this to confirm) HOW DID NO ONE CATCH THIS?! 👇
This was my favorite of the series. I prefer the ones that focus more on Franny and Jet, and this one did a fair amount of that. I'm sorry the series is over, but also glad to have the final story. A perfect October read
The Owens family learns that a life well-lived is a life well-loved thus ending the beloved series. Admittedly, the middle of the book dragged for me, but the ending made it all worth it. So, if this happens to you, channel your Energizer 🐰 & keep going. One of the things I love about the series is the feminist overtones, which this 📖 continues. This 📕 also includes a sapphic storyline! 🎉 - 🏳️🌈 women can also find love & be magical!
I have a seasonal cold that is kicking my butt today. Freddy knew I was feeling poorly. He insisted on being in my lap even though he does not like to climb up in my reading chair. Dogs are so intuitive and the best nurses. Also, thank goodness for healthy 🫖 piles & TBR shelves.
WOW! I enjoy when the author takes times to wrap things up and give you the little bits that you were wondering about in the other books of the series. Very bittersweet!
