pickThe story is reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland. Both stories revolve around a girl who is lost in a fantasy world and meets all kinds of interesting folks along the way. It‘s a simple plot line that works so well.
The cast of characters really made this an enjoyable read. The Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Cowardly Lion were all so lovable!

My mom invited me to an escape room this weekend that's Oz themed (based on BOOK only), and she wants me to wear a costume. Told her I'd wear a gold cap (nothing to do with the movie, but if you read the book, it's 💯 percent understandable.) It wasn't exactly what I expected escape room wise, but I still enjoyed time with my fam. ❤️

pickEvery time I read this I realise how much the film misses (and how sanitised it is). Oz is such a weird place, and Dorothy and her comrades‘ journey is so action-packed. A story that truly draws on the power of imagination to transport us to another world. I‘ve only just realised that this is the beginning of a quite lengthy series of books, so cue me reading more Oz tales (which I can only assume are weirder than this).

This one has to be The Wizard Of Oz! I was obsessed with these books when I was in primary school, I haunted our local library for each book in the series. Though this one wasn‘t my favourite from it, TikTok of Oz & Ozma Of Oz have that spot, they wouldn‘t have existed without this first story. I have a beautiful bound set I‘m hoping to read with my grandbabies soon.

I decided to finally read this entire series so I started with a reread of the first book. It's the only book in the series that I've read, but I'm a huge fan of all things Oz related.
My journey down the yellow brick road was just as enjoyable as my first trip with the band of misfits. I love the friendship that develops and how each character learns to believe in themselves, with a little help of course. 😁

pickI had no idea this book was so different from the movie based on it. I have fond memories of the movie, mostly because it was a big event whenever it came on TV; my sister and I would be allowed to stay up late and we would have big bowls of popcorn and watch it with our parents. (This was in the days of TVs with dials that you had to change between the 3 channels by hand! 🤣)
