The 1900s were not kind at all. I've only read 5 but I did recognize quite a lot of them.

This ballgame is getting out of hand, so I might as well do the quiz! 🤣
It‘s another collection comprised mostly of never heard of it, on my TBR, or I read another book by the author. #TLT
However, if you broke up the LOTR trilogy into its component books and counted the rereads, I‘d have a higher score than 5/100. 😎
Here are the rest.
1. Cry, the Beloved Country
2. Dr. Zhivago
3. The Talented Mr. Ripley
4. The Last Temptation of Christ

1) sadly, anything but my current name Karen 😞 I‘ve always liked my name, especially with my middle name: Karen Ann. But regrettably many people still abuse it; it can be disheartening for me and all the lovely Karens I know
2) too many cats to name so I‘m just listing the names for all the black kitties I‘ve had: Twelve (for 12 o‘clock midnight), Jedi, Madouc, & Midnight
3) Lorien, Eowyn, & Galadriel (like @dabbe ‘s picks)

28/100. Ouch. 🤣
I had two that were DNRs for me-Gone Girl and Left Behind. Several I think I may have read, but can‘t remember. I didn‘t count those.
Favorites-Joy Luck Club, One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Hitchhiker‘s Guide to the Galaxy.

Thanks for the tag! @dabbe
I forgot to post last week‘s results which was my best one of the bunch in terms of numbers anyway.
Favorites: All 3 LOTR movies, Moonstruck, and Sense and Sensibility
This week‘s faves: Midnight in Paris, The Martian and American Fiction
This has been an a great reminder of so many movies I want to see.
Thanks for the fun, Denise 🩷💚🩷
#threelistThursday, @dabbe
My score was 40%! My favorites from the list were:
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Beauty and The Beast
Up (still can't watch the opening without crying)
The Sixth Sense (totally blew me away at that time)
That wa a fun quiz!
Visited a new-to-me Gastropub and they were having Lord of the Rings theme cocktails and food. It was a cool bar (a little pricey, though) with lots of tabletop board games. My husband and I will be visiting again.
In other book to the small/big screen news, there is going to be a LoTR cast reunion panel at C2E2 in April. Beyond excited about this—good thing I got my tickets early. Love the books and I also really love Peter Jackson‘s movies. Thrilled to have an opportunity to listen to these actors talk about the movies and bringing the characters to life.
We‘re going on an adventure!!!
#FellowshipOfTolkien In these crazy political times, it‘s always good to have a little something to lighten the mood. So if you like political humor, I suggest a YouTuber who calls himself The Pissed-Off Bartender. He coined the hilarious, but sadly accurate, term The Saffron Sauron. He seems to have about a million nicknames for DJT and his co-president, but this is the first one I heard him use and I think it‘s the funniest. But that‘s just me.

hi @RamsFan1963 and @Daisey, I saw this deal in Amazon US but being newish to the platform I'm letting you know. I'm not sure if your lists will be interested or if you already know about this and others who would be interested.
I have the physical version and love the illustrations incl, but only open on occasions and read the one I have on Kindle.

Meet Merry Pippin. We have been fostering to adopt Pippin while he was in a splint to heal a broken leg. Today his splint was removed and his adoption finalized. I got my Christmas wish. ❤️🎄❤️
Cartoon Network has the 1978 LotR on right now! This is what my mom raised me on! #fellowshipoftolkien

I‘m not proud that this made me laugh… but it did.
My physical copies of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings pocket editions arrived. These are awesome.

This one made me giggle because it‘s so silly (obviously had to share immediately)

I can't believe I almost missed Tolkien Reading Day! But here I am to raise a toast to our favourite professor!
My friends make fun of me because I often say, “This is one of my favourite Tolkien quotes,“ and they say, “They are all your favourite quotes!“ LOL! I suppose they are right.
But this quote would make any reader's heart sing!
Happy Tolkien Reading Day!
Busy week this week so I‘m playing catch up. I think it would be cool to be a Valkyrie! I couldn‘t think of any books other than Norse mythology with Valkyries (except for Marvel comics), so I chose the tagged book as it is an all time favorite. #Two4Tuesday
“This book is largely concerned with Hobbits, and from its pages a reader may discover much of their character and little of their history.”
One-Volume book, it‘ll be the biggest book I‘ve read when finished. 1,031 pages not including all the Appendices and extra stuff. 1/3 of the way through.
#FirstLineFridays @ShyBookOwl
I‘m all set for the extended edition lord of the rings marathon… turned up early to make sure I got the seat I wanted 💪🏼 (the seats at the Astor vary wildly in comfort - I don‘t think they are the original 1936 seats but maybe they are?)
Maybe should have worn shoes that didn‘t clash with the carpet… (please excuse the weird tan the top of my feet are currently rocking… genuinely perplexed by the tan lines I have)
For today's #NewYearNewBooks prompt, what better example than JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books for #involvesjourney and pictured are my dad's collection of said books he gifted me.
@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs
I‘m off to an extended edition lord of the rings marathon next weekend - and I‘m so excited!
I see the trilogy on an almost yearly basis in cinema - and I‘m so chuffed that it‘s back at The Astor - not just because it‘s the last standing, single screen movie palace in Melbourne but because they always play the extended editions (Lido may have the comfier seats but the theatrical edition don‘t have Legolas & Gimli trying to out drink each other)
Snagged this gem during a small book haul today. All three books in one volume in about 1200 pages with color illustrations and maps.
I have to admit that I‘ve never read the LOTR books so this will me my first journey through.
Watch this documentary for free on Tubi. It‘s about some of the real places and events that inspired Tolkien to write some of his greatest works.
