This one could've been a pick. But the narrator's accent was so irritating, the constant reminders of the location (yes, you're from Jonesboro and now live in Memphis - you've mentioned it at least 37 times), the repeated unrealized held breaths, laughs, tears, etc. just kept me from enjoying what was a pretty ok story.

Christmas in Evergreen: Tidings of Joy: Based on a Hallmark Channel original movie | Nancy Naigle

so-so

I enjoyed the original CiE story much more than this one. The small Christmas town setting is still just as charming as ever, but setting alone can't carry a story. The story was very blah, and adding in a bunch of side plots didn't help. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either.

My guy and I are messy by nature, but over the weekend I realized that we're fortunate to at least have an apartment. It's not ideally big enough and thus cluttered, but it's a warm, dry place to live. 5y

I am not one for legal books, fiction or non-fiction, but I joined in on the #SundsyBuddyRead. This is very thorough, giving us some background about the Borden family and the aftermath of those vicious murders. We move to details of the court case, with day by day descriptions of the case and includes black & white photos of the crime scenes, and closes with the verdict and a brief aftermath. This is DENSE. Well researched, but lots of names ⬇️

Lisey's Story: A Novel | Stephen Book

Mare Winningham's audio narration was FANTASTIC but I'm glad this smucking book is over! Listening to Lisey's Story for 19 hours on CD over the last two weeks means I had a lot of time to think about this. It was too long. Parts of this book felt unimportant to the ultimate story and others were repetitive to the point where I was hoping for some clown to emerge from the sewer in an unexpected crossover to take out every last one of them. ⬇️

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Lisey is boring. Her sisters are boring. Zero scares, and the most thrilling part was a scene with a can opener! And worst of all, there were so many words and phrases that are like inside jokes/family phrases that are supposed to take you into their specific story but really just grated my nerves into a parmesan-like substance. Among the grating are smucking (in lieu of it's rhyming F word), bool (still couldn't 100% explain WTF it is), ⬇️ 5y

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick parents referred to as Goodma & Dandy, and most annoying, is this famous writer can't call the blanket an afghan, but an African. The only vaguely supernatural thing about this is the place Lisey's husband has taken her at times, a bit like The Upside-Down of you're a Stranger Things fan, called Booya Moon. I'm just not sentimental enough for this sort of self-indulgent story. At least there are beaucoup team points for this one. ⬇️ 5y
