December 15th
Of course as @Cupcake12 I had to post my favourite cupcakes…carrot cake cupcake! 🧁
The book is also one of my cosy favourites
Wow! What a wonderful book! And she has my country's coffee on the Menu, such a small country, it's the first time I read about it in a book (fictionally speaking 😉) Totally reading all her books 📚💖📚
Hugs every one 💙
Sure, there‘s always a sweet romance in a Jenny Colgan story, but that‘s not what draws me back to her books. I like that her MCs find the intestinal fortitude to make the necessary changes in their lives, discover their own worth - and then settle into a relationship.
One to cross off the #BookSpinBingo card. It was only as I approached the end of the book that I realised I had read it‘s sequel back in December 2013. I wasn‘t too fond of that sequel - flat, stereotypical characters, annoying main character, implausible storyline. This one wasn‘t much better. I like a nice bit of escapism, but do we have to have it with such a drippy, annoying main character?

Today‘s Prompt: A PINK COVER
The book was as sweet as the icing on Issy‘s cupcakes. It will leave you with a cozy, warm feeling.

Also grabbed these about a month ago at Barnes and Noble. I am such a puzzle junkie and the book sounds so fun!
This is my second Jenny Colgan book and I love her. I listened to the audio and loved how the recipes were incorporated into the text and kept in the audio. Now I have to get the print version so I can try my have at one of the sponge cakes.
I am already a huge fan of Jenny Colgan's books. So I was delighted to be able to also add this book to my list of favourites of hers. A delightfully heartwarming book about Issy who loses her job in real estate and finds herself amongst baking cupcakes and other deliciousness at her cafe. Jenny has a way of writing where you just start falling in love with her characters and their lives from the first chapter until long after the last chapter.
So many books to read thanks to the library and @netgalley
Match the lyric to a book kinda thing. 😊

I really struggle with audiobooks and have never finished one, but I'm trying this one because I haven't tried something light and fun on audio yet. Hopefully I can manage to pay attention to it and finish!

Nobody does comfort reading like Jenny Colgan.
Can you really go wrong with a cute book that gives you wonderful cake recipes? When you are trying to be healthy, yes. Apart from me wanting every cake made in the book it was so lovely.
This is how the book opens. I'm going to love this one so much, that I'm kicking myself for starting it close to 10:00 pm! 🙄
1. Hoping for a light, charming read following my recent, heavier books.
2. Hmm...either the police chase in our rural 4,000 person town, or the cattle truck overturning, closing the interstate.
3. Please, Universe, let me squeeze in at least a mini-Readathon this weekend! 🤞
4. What do you get when you cross an elephant and a rhino?
....elephino!
5. Fun! I'm a big fan of corny/Dad jokes. 😉

#manicmonday on Tuesday!
1. I fell in love with the tagged book last November.
2. Pad Thai or makhani prawns.
3. Onions, unless they're COMPLETELY MELTED DOWN (as in makhani anything).
4. Does my birthday count? I always eat great stuff on my birthday.
5. So, so many. Huang Po River! Shandhar Hut! Pagliacci's! East India Company! El Piano! Tacofino! Sun Fortune! Ichiban (RIP)! Etc etc. I don't eat out often, though, because it gets expensive.
This was a cute chick-lit book. I loved how Izzy was so down to earth and felt like your best friend. And the problems she faced throughout are normal girl issues that we all face at some point. But I love how she went from a shy girl to a strong businesswoman. This was just such a cute story! I wanna visit the Cupcake Cafe!!

A lil disappointed in my time today, not as good as the last few days BUT my total at the moment is 21hours and 20minutes...sooo I don‘t feel to bad! I should easily be able to complete the #25inFive challenge tomorrow (technically today, since it‘s after midnight)
#SassyBookworm😏 #Readathon #snailreader 🐌
Just barely made it over 5hrs today! Mostly I was listening to my audiobook! But pretty proud of my progress so far for this #25inFive #Readathon
#SassyBookworm😏
Well I‘ve hit midnight for day one and I‘ve read 6h & 17min I‘m pretty proud of my progress!! Especially given I went to see Ready Player One (again) at the movies!!! Love it!!!

I picked this from the audible romance package. It‘s cute but cliched. When she keeps going back to the jerk ex, for the third time, I just couldn‘t listen anymore. This literally had every rom-com trope. I would pass on this one. #couldnotfinish #romanticcomedy #glorytotheguild
Absolutely loved this - it‘s darling. She‘s great at writing these really atmospheric, precious books. 💜
I finally managed to read for 30 minutes & finish a book last night without falling asleep! 🎉📚Hopefully on my way out of the reading slump my January brought. This is a typical Colgan--sweet, mostly light, a bit predictable...but a great feel-good palate cleanser that will make you want to open a bakery in a quirky London neighborhood, have a flat with a pink kitchen & definitely make you crave cupcakes.😋Lots of recipes included. #foodiebooks
Since many of you expressed missing this sweet face, this is from Max's 🐱pet nanny today. Not the greatest shot (🐱Max says that his mom captures his best side better 😽❤️) but boy do I miss my baby. #catsoflitsy Tonight's reading, as long as I stay awake anyway, is something sweet and light. Hope everyone is well. Again thank you so much for all the kind comments & #litsylove 💜💜💜Littens are the best.
"I have a head for business and a body for sin," said Issy. Then she glanced down at the popcorn on her lap. "Unfortunately, the sin appears to be gluttony." #scenesfromabook #ThatWasFunny ?The humor Jenny Colgan adds to her stories & the food descriptions & recipes make them a nice escape. After errands & chores, I'm finally sitting down with a book, apple hand pie, & apple-cinnamon tea. My sin is gluttony too...when it comes to apple pies.?❤️
A little Jenny Colgan to brighten up the morning before digging into some work projects. The pic is a bit dark because it was early when I hit the coffeeshop this morning. My 'winter' Friday breakfast of a sun-dried tomato bagel with lox & lots of capers & a press of local coffee. Happy Aloha Friday. 🌺🍍
"...he had pointed out (sadly, she sometimes thought); she didn't want to be getting up at sparrow's fart and doing hard manual labor for the rest of her life."-From the tagged book. When I read a foodie novel or cozy mystery set in a cute bakery, cafe, or chocolate shop, I long to own one-then I remember how much I dislike waking up at 'sparrow's fart' ?especially to bake or make confections-I'd rather just eat them.? #scenesfromabook #wakingup
This was delightful! Colgan's characters are beautifully rendered, and they face dramatic yet everyday challenges within a realistically diverse London. The story isn't as fluffy as I expected, either; in places, it deals with issues like poverty and caring for grandparents with dementia. Despite those darker threads, the book warmed my heart and left me glad Colgan has written so many other novels for me to explore.
Alas, I couldn't concentrate on THE STONE SKY no matter how hard I tried, so I put it aside to return to at a later date and started MEET ME AT THE CUPCAKE CAFE. I've read almost 90 pages since breakfast, even though today was pretty busy, so I think I made the right choice.
Having the day off and paying a visit to my best friend's cupcake cafe and bakery. What do you think? Love this place and I'm so proud of her. 😍 It's also a great place to read (when I don't have the kid in tow at least 😂). @Sarah83 If you're ever in Gelsenkirchen-Horst, this is highly recommended! 😊
Back from the nephews wedding, now some me time.
So cute and the recipes are a definite bonus. This book gave me a nice little break from the other books I typically read.
