Camping Trip | Catherine Hapka

When Meg goes camping for the first time, she doesn't know what to expect. Unprepared for lots of bugs, long walks to the bathroom, and spooky, scary stories, Meg learns that camping is far more than just a slumber party outdoors. . . it's a true Pony Scouts adventure! This series is full of all the rich details young horse lovers devour, from pony-centric plots to a "Pony Pointers" vocabulary page at the end of each book. Go camping with the Pony Scouts! This is a Level Two I Can Read book, geared for kids who read on their own but still need a little help.

#camplitsy23

Thank you all for your wonderful contributions to this weekend‘s discussions.

Now is you time to vote for your favourite book from August. Will Romantic Comedy or The Memory of Animals go through to the final to compete against The Bandit Queens and Yellowface?

Voting will close on Wednesday, when we‘ll announce our August winner. After that we‘ll post about the vote for our ultimate #camplitsy23 winner.

See All 47 Comments
Laughterhp Romantic Comedy is my vote 1y
Leniverse I would never have guessed it at the start of the month, but my vote goes to 1y
CBee I liked Memory, but I liked Romantic Comedy better, so that‘s my choice! 1y
ImperfectCJ I'm going to surprise myself by voting for 1y
TrishB No vote from me- didn‘t read Romantic Comedy and dnf Animals! 1y
Oryx Animals for me please 1y
peaKnit Romantic Comedy, I bailed on The Memory of Animals :( I‘m not proud but I think I‘ve had it with pandemic reads lol. 1y
Megabooks 💯💯💯💯 1y
AmyG Romantic Comedy. I bailed on the other one, too. ☹️ 1y
Julsmarshall Romantic Comedy for me! 1y
julesG Romantic Comedy 1y
batsy I gave RM a so-so and a pan for Animals, but my vote is for Animals since I think I do like that Fuller was trying to do something different (though didn't succeed!) Sittenfeld and I don't get on, unfortunately 😆 1y
RebelReader Romantic Comedy for me. Bailed on the Fuller 1y
Suet624 A half hearted vote for RC. (edited) 1y
Cinfhen this one for me 1y
Read4life Definitely this one for me 1y
Ruthiella I only read one, therefore my vote goes to 1y
Meshell1313 I gave them both 3.5 stars but I‘m going with the one I keep thinking about: 1y
Christine I couldn't choose so consulted my StoryGraph ratings and they were identical. 😆 I think I'll go with 1y
SamAnne Romantic Comedy. But admit I didn‘t read Memory of Animals. 1y
ChaoticMissAdventures I was set to vote for the more creative Animals until that ending. Surprise babies for "reasons" always put me in a rage ?. So I am going with the one that was more fun 1y
ChaoticMissAdventures And a huge thank you to all of our counselors!!! This was my first Camp Listy and it was so much fun! 1y
DebinHawaii I did like both, but I‘m going with the more fun, less weighty summer read: 1y
JamieArc Romantic Comedy for me. Massive storms and being without power for days left me unable to participate in yesterdays discussion but it was fun reading the comments. Glad to have read the books we did! 1y
squirrelbrain Oh dear @JamieArc - hope all is OK now with you. 1y
squirrelbrain @ChaoticMissAdventures - we‘ve enjoyed having you along - hopefully you‘ll join again next year! 1y
Hooked_on_books The Memory of Animals for me! I wasn‘t a fan of RC and think Fuller had the better book. 1y
CSeydel Tough choice. Both were very good, but they‘re hard to compare - they were so extremely different from each other! I thought Animals was an interesting premise but the execution was ultimately too flawed - so I‘ll vote 1y
JoyBlue I only read Romantic Comedy, so I'll vote for that. 1y
Chelsea.Poole These books are so so different! I enjoyed both for very different reasons. Romantic Comedy was a fun and engaging read but for me the more impactful (so I‘m voting for) was 1y
julieclair My vote goes to Romantic Comedy. 1y

So many amazing sounding books, so hard to choose! I‘ve added loads to the tbr. I couldn‘t join in with most of #camplitsy last year as I had Naomi in the June (can‘t believe she‘s going to be 1 soon 😭) but hoping to read all or most of the selections this time ❤️

sarahbarnes Ooh, a new Deborah Levy! 😍 2y
BarbaraBB We share two! I am very interested in Now You See Us, it is quite popular in today's nominations. Happy you're joining Camp! 2y
squirrelbrain Great choices! And I can‘t believe Naomi is nearly one! Hope you are all doing Ok. 2y

Day 3- Arts and Crafts

I found my copy of the merit badge handbook for grown up girls! Chose the knitting badge, and plan to follow the steps!
Also remembered that I was very proud of my painted plaster creations that I did when I was just a girl. 💗

Woke up to a crisp morning at Camp Mother Nature with the birds singing and a gorgeous blue sky! The morning temperature, in the late 50‘s, put a pep in my step as I went out for my audio walk. The beauty of nature around every corner! At the very top of the tree in the upper right corner sits a large crow whose loud voice caught my attention! #litsysummercamp @ImperfectCJ

I. I haven‘t actually camped for many, many, many years! But I have been following glamping sites on Instagram, and have chosen a fabulous dome!
2. Camp Mother Nature- being in nature nourishes my soul.
3. Reading a good one now. Main character is a forest ranger in the mountains of Appalachia. Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver
4. Goals: daily audio walks, buddy reads: Persuasion, Four Hundred Souls
#LitsySummerCampReadathon @ImperfectCJ

ImperfectCJ Prodigal Summer is amazing! One of those books with an atmosphere that has stuck with me well over the years. And Instagram and Pinterest are excellent for imaginary camping! Great to have you at camp this week! 3y
DivineDiana @ImperfectCJ Thank you! I am already feeling the atmosphere in Prodigal Summer. I love Barbara Kingsolver. Glad to be here! Thank you for arranging this fun trip! 🏕 (edited) 3y
