Starry Night: A Christmas Novel | Debbie Macomber
43 posts | 48 read | 20 to read
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER Dont miss Debbie Macombers short story Lost and Found in Cedar Cove and an excerpt of her new novel Last One Home, among other special features, in the back of the book. Tis the season for romance, second chances, and Christmas cheer with this new novel from Debbie Macomber. Carrie Slayton, a big-city society-page columnist, longs to write more serious news stories. So her editor hands her a challenge: She can cover any topic she wants, but only if she first scores the paper an interview with Finn Dalton, the notoriously reclusive author. Living in the remote Alaskan wilderness, Finn has written a megabestselling memoir about surviving in the wild. But he stubbornly declines to speak to anyone in the press, and no one even knows exactly where he lives. Digging deep into Finns past, Carrie develops a theory on his whereabouts. It is the holidays, but her career is at stake, so she forsakes her family celebrations and flies out to snowy Alaska. When she finally finds Finn, she discovers a man both more charismatic and more stubborn than she even expected. And soon she is torn between pursuing the story of a lifetime and following her heart. Filled with all the comforts and joys of Christmastime, Starry Night is a delightful novel of finding happiness in the most surprising places. Bk7 of the #WinterGames for #TeamNutcracker is done. A cute short story about a Chicago reporter, desperate to get off the society column agrees to track down a reclusive survivalist writer in Alaska‘s wilderness. When she finally tracks him down, she finds herself attracted to the hairy caveman who thinks women are a waste of time. 21pts + 5 #PointsTotal-524

It was a pretty cute holiday love story. I wasn‘t expecting too much out of it but I still thought it was a light, easy read. Some of the dialect seemed unnatural between the characters, which was hard to get through at times. But overall it was a cute, fun #HolidayRead #WinterGames #TeamFestivus

Carrie wants to report more serious stories, so her editor sends her to find the reclusive writer Finn Dalton. Her search takes her to Alaska during a snowstorm, and of course, the romance that follows is exactly what you would expect from Macomber and full of #holidaycheer. A fun reread. #deardecember #wintergames #merryreaders #holidayread

Why do I keep reading Debbie Macomber? They always seem to fall short of the mark for me. I listened to this on audio while running holiday errands over the last week or I likely would have bailed. Interesting premise, just a little too sanitized and predictable. #romantsy

I read this book today. It is your standard formulaic romance short story.

This was a pretty good book, predictable but still good. It was a quick read and recommended if you are looking for a light romance novel.

Merry Christmas! I'm so grateful I get to spend it with my mom. There's been many times throughout the years we almost lost her because of her health problems. But this year she's doing good. It's a quiet Christmas for the 2 of us and my pup. It's sad that my sisters can't be here but sadly there's family drama that the holidays can't fix. 😔 I'm trying to concentrate on just enjoying the time with my mom.
If you need to chat, I'm here #joinin

Been a bit of a rough holiday season so I picked up a romance. I'll definitely be picking up more romances for the rest of the holidays and in the coming year. Plan on finishing this up before tonight's festivities.

🌲 Disclaimer: I‘m not a #romance reader. I‘ve never read a Macomber novel. Take my opinion with a grain of salt... or five!🌲

I was craving an easy, fluffy read with a cool-weather theme. This Alaskan love story fit perfectly. Cheesy and innocent and all the tropes (opposites attract, manly man with girly girl, grand gestures, etc.)... and I liked it. 🙊

I had to sneak in a romance during Valentine‘s week. Mostly, I just enjoyed the snowed-in setting of a secluded cabin in the Alaska woods.

This was a very quick read. I listened to it on audiobook and really enjoyed it. I probably finished this in a day, which is quite fast for me. It‘s the perfect holiday love story to read next to a warm fire. I thought Finn was every clueless cave man just trying to express himself with grunts and odd presents and Carrie couldn‘t be more opposite of that as her email address stated she was a girly girl but she was the ying to his yang.

I finally got my new copy and chapters 12-15 were present and accounted for. This was a really cute holiday romance and a fun, easy read. The climax of the story was a bit anticlimactic and the end of the story resolved pretty quickly but overall it was a nice holiday getaway.

Another day, another cheesy holiday audio book. Overall I really enjoyed this one. Yes, the plot wad ridiculous, but the characters had development and the Alaska setting was great. My one real complaint is that I hate the phrase "a man's man". I know it means he is rugged and outdoorsy, but that phrase just rally irks me.

Andrea4 Why is there no female equivalent? You never hear "a woman's woman" or a "a girl's girl." Shower thoughts ? but yes, I agree -very irritating phrase. 2y
Jen_Reads I‘m reading this one now and I‘ve only gotten 20 pages in. 2y
