A graphic novel (comic) about a group of kick-butt girls at summer camp who spend their time fighting monsters and attempting to solve a mystery with friendship. This is a very quick read as it's only 128 pages. I love the incorporation of math, famous women, and the focus on the power of friendship. #graphicnovel #lumberjanes #girlpower

I'm loving the use of famous women as interjections when the girls get frustrated or when one would normally curse. The one pictured might be my favorite as it uses Juliette Gordon Low the founder of Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts was a huge influence in my life as I was a scout K-12 and then became an adult Girl Scout during my college years.

Fun. This group of girls are bold, brave and supportive of one another. Their motto is friendship to the max, which makes such a nice difference compared to the 'mean girl' culture that is so often prevalent and perpetuated through media.

I'm not sure what to start next. Maybe one of these.
Though I've just been sucked into Fortitude on Amazon Prime. This may take a while.

Free Comic Book Saturday is this Saturday, so I'm going to the comic book store to pick up my free ones and to get something for #ReadHarder - A comic by an LGBTQIA creator.
I think Lumberjanes would work, but are there any other suggestions?

Not much reading today, despite canceling the road trip for weather. Headache from last night + lots of kitchen time = pathetic.

Not sure how I feel about Lumberjanes. I didn‘t really get it, but I want to know what‘s going on, so I plan to get the next couple on the next library trip. I‘ll give it a tentative pick. Graphic novels still really aren‘t my thing.

Just picked this up and am adding it to my Spooktober TBR! It looks like so much fun!

Interesting concept, but I have no idea what's going on, so it's on to the next one.

This was the first time I read a comic on my kindle. I really enjoyed it and the art was well done.

I laughed out loud a lot and enjoyed the characters. Excited to read the others in the series.

Finally started #Lumberjanes over the weekend and it's super fun. Time to find the rest of the comic books!

I chose to read this to fill the #readharder comic not published by Marvel, DC or Image challenge. This was meh to me - disclaimer: I‘m not a comic/graphic novel reader. I was clearly not the target audience for this, but I did appreciate the brief references to historical figures. Not for me, but I can now at least say I read this! Book 5/7. #24in48 #readharder2018

Such a silly read. These girls were all over the place! I feel I can‘t say any bad things about comics, especially when they‘re so silly! That‘s the main word that comes to mind. #LetsGetGraphicWeekLongMarathon

It was so short. I kept dragging my finger on my Kindle screen because surely that wasn‘t the end. But alas, it was.

I was so skeptical, but this is an absolute joy to read, not to mention HILARIOUS!!
This is for all the color-outside-the-lines, adventurous, creative, smart women of all ages who have proven their whole lives that you CAN stay true to yourself and be an awesome friend! And have a ton of fun in the process!

We always do Christmas a week late with my dad's family. It was a great day hanging out with everyone. This is all of my nerdy, bookish gifts that I got yesterday. I've been looking forward to reading Lumberjanes for a while now.

"What the junk?" ?? I actually say this all the time then again my day job is a preschool teacher (night job library clerk) so I am constantly watching my mouth so I don't say something inappropriate. It is still nice to see someone else using this phrase ??

Meh, not my thing. I have learned that if I‘m going to read a comic, I much much prefer realistic ones. This one was too out there for me. I can see why other people would like it, though!

I enjoyed it so much that I signed up for comiXology so I can continue it. 30 days free trial wasn't a bad deal.

I've seen this posted on Litsy before, so I figured I'd give it a try since it is available on #KindleUnlimited. Because avoiding the other books I'm currently reading is what I'm good at. Lol

So I liked the story, but the art bothered me. Basic anatomy was completely ignored, people‘s hands looked so awful. Also, there was lots of typos in the Lumberjanes field guide parts. I hate typos in books, it‘s sloppy.

Graphic novel book club also snuck up on me this month.

Read this book after stealing it for a night from my niece. I had bought them for her since graphic novels are all she reads and I wanted to give her some strong females to her reading endeavors. So far, I'm in love. When can I go to camp? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Fellow Litten @DGRachel posted about loving these so I Googled, foundvolume 1 free for Amazon Prime members and thought, what the heck. We‘ll see how this goes. My first ever comic book read.

This was such a fun and strange graphic novel. Sort of Girl Scouts meets Gravity Falls meets Night Vale. I have no idea where the mystery is heading, but I can't wait to find out. Also, I love the diverse cast of girls- PoC, hints of LGBT, and tons of awesome girl power. Friendship to the MAX!

I fell asleep reading on the porch and when I woke up my fiance had bookmarked my page with this note. ❤

I missed the appeal of this. I fully understand the inclusion/feminist points but the story just didn't seem cohesive. It felt like a meh regurgitation of Girl Scouts to me, when GSUSA has made their own stories, back even to when I was a scout, that seemed more well put together. #unpopularopinion

So excited to check this one out! I'm hoping to find a good series for my niece.

Umm, this was not for me. I gave it a try to meet a reading challenge #allagescomic knowing full well that the only comic I ever really liked was Archie (and a friend introduced me to some Neil gaiman that were cool). This one did not change my mind. It's had great reviews here and the concept of empowered women in an empowered Girl Scout type camp is cool, but confirmed that I'm just not a comics person.

I was really excited to read this as it got such good reviews but I didn't really rate it. I didn't hate it at all but I didn't think it was that amazing

Loved this story of girl power and friendship! Bring on the second one!
