🎧 Kitchens of the Great Midwest- I really wanted to like this one because I absolutely enjoyed the two others of Stradal's that I listened to, but even after listening to 62% of this one I just wasn't invested in the story

These last two weeks were a terrible slog at school, since neither the students nor us teachers had any energy left, but it‘s done. Of course, I immediately got terrible sick this morning. Hopefully it‘s only a one day thing!

My #Jolabokaflod package with this cute sticker arrived on Thursday!! I‘m very much looking forward to opening it on Tuesday 🥰🥳🎄

What are the odds that #Finland is your country on my b-day month?! I love that.

I baked today Finnish cinnamon rolls (korvapuusti) and Finnish Archipelago Bread (saaristolaisleipä). Finnish cinnamon rolls are something that my grandmother always baked and when I was sick, she came and took care of me and she baked with me. They are THE buns to me, I love cinnamon so much.

I am ridiculously excited about this feature on the StoryGraph!

First, the narrator was wonderful. I was sucked into this story. It was a bit slow at first but it was worth it. What this world did to humans was horrendous. What white people did to slaves was deplorable. Owning another human will never set right with me. Harming another human for the benefit of having a slave is awful. It‘s sad what happened in this book. Good to hear the side of the slave. James was a good man.

So I‘ve made 15 holiday cookie varieties and eaten 1 or 2 of each kind! Pfefferneuse, orange cardamom molasses, cookie butter snickerdoodles, lemon wreaths, malted vanilla sugar cookies, red velvet, chocolate caramel, marzipan thumbprints, scotcheroos, cherry walnut balls, lemony hazelnut Yule logs, peanut butter blossoms, linzer cookies, chocolate oat biscuits, and grinch heart cookies!!!!

These Windmill cookies bring back such amazing memories. I would have tea with my nanny and share these cookies with her. She lived with us for many years and that was our daily routine. As the youngest grandchild, I had a special bond with my grandparents. She passed away on this date when I was in high school.
A nice cup of tea and these cookies always bring me back to those wonderful afternoons with her.

Huzzah! It is completed! It‘s a little shorter than I thought it was going to be, but it‘s very comfy and it comes with a footstool!

I can‘t wait to curl up with a blanket and a cup of hot chocolate after dinner. 💖
