Simon and Baz at a Renaissance Faire in Iowa fighting vampires in broad daylight with an audience is everything I needed this weekend.
Baz, Simon, and Penny travel to America to see Agatha. They fly into Chicago and get a convertible Mustang to drive to California. It doesn't go as planned, however, and they meet new people and have to save themselves and others along the way.

It's always great to have a story about things that happen after some big adventure.
This had a nice adventure and was light to read. I didn't really like how often POV changed. This had first person POV so it was sometimes hard to remember who was “I“ in some certain chapter.
The first 50 % was quite slow part and it felt like the story was going nowhere. Then there started to happen more and was more interesting to read.
This was definitely not what I was expecting but I really enjoyed it. Rowell did a great job of equally making fun of England and America (there really are a ton of hair plug adds in Chicago) without being overbearing. 5⭐️
This book was very different from the first book! The gang goes on a road trip through America. I like how they thought Chicago was near San Diego and they‘re like, but it‘s the same country!
This was interesting. They meet and fight a lot of different magical creatures. I don‘t think I liked it as much as the first one, but it was still enjoyable.
I like these on audio.
I really appreciate when I can reread something and give it a higher rating. I love Simon, Baz, Agatha, Penny, and Shepard with my whole heart, and I just want them to be okay. They desperately deserve to be happy, and I also really need them all to go to therapy. Like, immediately.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Second book in the Simon Snow trilogy takes us out of England to the U.S.! They travel to Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Nevada, and California hitting all states for #RoadTripUSA2022. I really love all these characters and loved watching them grow a little stronger after book one. Their encounter with magic and vampires in the U.S. was very intriguing. Another fun read! On to book 3!
Book number 2 in this trilogy. I can‘t say much without spoil the story. It was ok. I liked more the first book. However, at the time I read this book, I needed something light because the first books read this month where intense. So this book was silly, made me laugh and it was simple and light. I still love Baz but that Penny is so eccentric, and unique😂 3⭐️
What happens AFTER the big bad is defeated — and it‘s not all sunshine and roses. I really loved this exploration of what happens to the hero when heroics are no longer necessary, and the challenge of maintaining and building on relationships once their familiar circumstances have changed. More than coming of age, this is a story of meeting the wider world in all its harsh realities and it‘s beautifully told.
I filled a request for cranberry white chocolate scones while I finished rereading WAYWARD SON on audio. I‘m sad to report it didn‘t resonate with me as strongly as it did the first time, but I‘m pretty sure it‘s a mood thing. I felt the same way about CARRY ON when I recently read it for the third time, and that one WAS just as wonderful the second time through. #audiobaking
A fun side-quest. You could probably read Carry On and AWTWB with little confusion without reading this one, but it was definitely fun. Learned a lot about Baz and met a new character!
A little slow to pick up but still a great read

Another re-read before finally starting book 3. I really hope it's better than this one. I missed the connection between Simon and Baz, I'm hoping for a happy ending for them. 4*
What a fun read! The second book in the series is set in the United States, as the characters learn about themselves and their failures. Leaving school gives you a real sense of where you are in your life and the author does a great job of learning to wrestle with what you thought you knew about yourself and reality of the new chapter your life takes after secondary school.
Finishing up my reread of this one so I can move on to the last book in the trilogy! I'm not ready to say goodbye to Simon, Baz, and Penelope yet! 💕📚💕 Roxas has been loving this warm summer weather -we've been reading on the balcony together a lot recently! #catsoflitsy #littenkitten #roxas
I‘d give this three and a half stars or so. Great dialogue and fun to see these characters in America for a change of scenery. The adventure itself seemed a bit sluggish, and I started to lose patience with everyone‘s self-doubt and internal struggles. Middle book syndrome, basically.
But! I still enjoy the characters, and I‘m curious about where Rowell will take them in the finale.

I‘m enjoying the chance to get reacquainted with these characters as they trek across America. #waywardson #rainbowrowell #simonsnowtrilogy
God this is a good sequel. Shakes the characters and their confidence, but sets up for a really excellent, meaningful final chapter. Can't wait to get my hands on AWTWB! #yafantasy
I had a lot of fun re-reading this in anticipation of the final book.
It‘s a fun adventure in the US filled with magic and vampires. What‘s not to like?
My heart does kinda tear in two because the two idiots on the cover (Baz and Simon) don‘t know how to communicate in their relationship, but that‘s life (and YA drama, and I‘m here for it, lol)
Last night's storms brought cooler weather. Made it a perfect morning to set on the deck with morning tea and finish my Reread of Wayward Son.
1st Time Reading: I loved it until as my friend Claire would say 'Ending really boiled my piss'. Waited 4 years & CLIFFHANGER⁉️
2nd Time Reading: I've the joy Book 3 - Anyway the Wind Blows waiting for me in the house. All 579 Pages of it.

5/5 for the second in this series! This one was just as good as the first. I now need the next book immediately! I still love Simon and Baz! I also love Penny and Agatha so much! The story was awesome and full of action.
Alright Soooooo. Apart from the obvious reason of tension between a certain two characters, I liked this book.
The whole route 66 vibe, the exploration of what happens to hero when he doesn't feel like one and the complexity of relationships was amazing.
It's not AS good as Carry on but it's not bad either. I'd give it a solid 4.3/5.
I'm also really excited for the third one coming on July 6th and also very scared cause I hate endings ¯\(°_o)/¯
Our favourite cliqué returns to a story where trouble follows them everywhere and you're literally dying for more. I felt better connected to the characters because of the development of the story. Now that each one of the trio is coming into their own identities, the reader can find one they relate to and it makes for a much better story. I love to read their perspective on America and the plot was definitely page turning. 2/19/2021-2/25/2021
Simon‘s in a bit of a funk after the events of the last book, and Penelope gets the bright idea of an American vacation, check in on her boyfriend, stop in and visit Agatha who isn‘t returning her calls, and a road trip between the two... just what the gang needs! Watching the gang deal with America as tourists, and without the knowledge of the local magical rules was a fun, action filled joy ride.
Good question? 😂
I loved how realistically she handled this, the big battle ended, but that doesn‘t mean there aren‘t repercussions for everyone. Emotional fallout, depression. Simon lost a lot in the last book, mentors, parental figures, some powers... so I like that she tackled that head on, it makes for the best YA, how to “Carry On” when everything isn‘t what you thought it would be.
I read this in one day, almost in one sitting, I had to know what happened next! The gang travels to America and runs into trouble on their roadtrip. The story was more intense and action-packed and emotional than the last.
Also why did I not realize that the third book isn't released yet??! Now I have to wait until July to find out how everything ends 😭😭😭

There are many ups and downs with this book. This book was defined by the author as a “middle book,“ so the events of this story aren't exactly as satisfying as Carry On. Even though they flowed nicely, I felt less inclined with the events and more the characters. Yet Simon Snow, one of the main characters, didn't shine through enough in this book. Yes, he lost his magic, but his magic doesn't define him! I wanted to read about him more.

Fantasy fiction
“Wayward Son“ is a continuation of “Carry On,“ and both books are written by Rainbow Rowell. Because I have been so fascinated with the plot and the characters like Simon, Baz, and Penelope, I wanted to see what happened to them after Carry On. I'm extremely intrigued with their personalities and I'm wondering how they will “carry on“ with their lives as they grow older.
I‘ve read Rowell‘s other novels, but skipped this series because I thought it would be silly. I wound up really enjoying both published books and am now looking forward to the third, due out in 2021!
That‘s 2 for #AuthorAMonth in November
I think I enjoyed this more than the first one. Baz, Simon and Penelope head off on a road trip across America and of course that doesn't go smoothly 💜

I‘ve read this book before, but I just had to read it again. It‘s one of those books that you could reread a hundred times. Rainbow Rowell is definitely my favourite author-- I can‘t get enough of her writing. I‘m not much of a reader, but I waited impatiently for this book to be released and read it all in one sitting after I got my hands on it. The realistic characters, the different points of view… It‘s so good. (cont.)
I have to give this book a 4/5, I enjoyed the book, but it just wasn't as good as the first. The hidden romance in the first book was very cute, but this book it just seemed like they were screaming at each other all the time. And the adventure wasn't as magical as the first. I still enjoyed the book but just not as much.
I could disappear into stories about Simon and Baz all day long, and this was just what I needed at the moment 👌

Tbh, I‘d read a menu if 🌈 wrote it, and this is certainly better than a menu.
I am not usually a fan of YA fantasy, but 🌈 does it in such a fun way, sort of in the same way Grady Hendrix lovingly spoofs 80s horror, that I can‘t help but love Simon and Baz (and Penelope and Agatha). Sign me up for number three!
